  1. I meant i work near Grand Turismo East, the Corvette shop, Buyavette.net
  2. GT? I might need to sneek a peek at your ride, if you don't mind. I work at a shop close by.
  3. One thing leads to another.... new 3" exhaust = remove bumper = pull gas tank and clean = service rear diff and so on and so fourth. LOL The outside of the gas tank was dirty. Inside of the gas tank was clean. So on the wiring. I'm trying to make it more serviceable. One example is the rear tail light harness connector. Instead of being behind the rear quarter panel interior trim. I moved the location to the rear tail light bulb access panel. Improving grounds through the whole system.
  4. Let me get the facts straight. While driving the car stalls and wont restart until cooling off for a while? You do not have to jump start to get it to turn over? I'm thinking IF the above is true, there is not a charging issue, look elsewhere. I would look at the ignition system. Possible coil?
  5. Three cheers to JTR for the great coolant bleed-sight glass. Great product and i give them two thumbs up. Makes me want to deal with those guys a little more....
  6. You might want to add this to your list also.... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRF-30202/ I did an engine swap and now i'm re-wiring the whole car. I wasn't planning on a complete re-wire but what pushed me to do it was the gauges. I could have adapted the 30 plus year old instruments to somewhat work but would not compare to the newer technology. Now i'm getting rid of a bunch of un-needed relays and wiring to save a little weight (280z).
  7. What engine are you going with? Keep up the good work.
  8. I never really gave the VQ engine much thought untill a couple of weeks ago. I saw a guy beating the heck out of one. Good choice, cool project. Post us plenty of pictures..
  9. Keep at it, it's gonna be sweet when you get done.
  10. Tonight was wild hair night. I removed the stock rear bumper and all associated parts. I'm not really certain when the "while i'm at it list" exceeded the original budget but that's long past. BTW the original budget was $3,500.00 for the SR s13 swap. What i didn't include in the original plan were: Nobody had a s13 red or black top when i was ready to pull the trigger so i had to get the s14 Kouki. SpeedHut Instrumentation Aluminum driveshaft Re-wiring the entire car, including weatherpack connectors, bulkhead connectors for the dash (so it still removes the same as OEM). 1k exhaust system, 3" ceramic coated. And a whole list of little nothings that add up. One thing that still stands out in my mind. When i took the marker lights apart to clean them, the metal sockets and reflectors look brand new, i mean brand new. I could package these up in plastic bags and sell them as new and everybody would be happy. It blows my mind that a 37 year old car's bulb sockets look friking new. I work on GM stuff everyday and would rate these as kicking their stupid butt's all over the place,, really. I see '04 models with rust and arching. Makes me really love the little car even more. I'm still chugging along and expect to fire it up in a few weeks....
  11. Yea i kinda like that one,, a little cluttered but nice. Notice the fitment of the hood at the back to vent heat. I want those mirrors!!! Where can i get them??? LOL
  12. I'm in the middle of a Speedhut install. I went with the 4" quad and gps tach combo. 2 5/8" wideband, fuel pressure, boost. Silver faces, bright green glow.
  13. I just bought the single most expensive part for my car, it's all down hill from here. Right now it's looking like the first of March for competition.
  14. I got a box of pure crap in the mail today..... I'm converting all of the bulbs in the car to LED's. I was planning on doing all of the conversion myself until i saw Keepitclean had a kit to do the rear tail lights. I decided to order the kit from them to save some time and effort. That seems to have been the wrong choice. The kit looks to be badly misrepresented. On the website their picture shows 4 jumpers, there are only 2 in the kit, furthermore i think there should be 6. The amount of led's on their picture looks great, i don't think they gave me even half of what's pictured. There are NO instructions. Most any fool could figure out how to wire the stupid things, the problem is layout of the led's. No mounting hardware is included so i'm assuming they want me to glue this crap to my car?? If anyone is thinking about getting this so called kit......beware. http://www.keepitcleanwiring.com/catalog/details/LEDU337578/NISSAN-1975-1978-280Z-LED-TAILIGHT-CONVERSION-KIT Oh yea and another thing their return process looks to be a nightmare.
  15. OMG Most everything in this thread applies to me Except the rust. Maybe i'll just leave it in the garage and work on it..........
  16. If i get a few key parts in this week i should be done with all of the mechanical items with the exception of radiator hoses. Then it's time to re-wire the car.
  17. Well Mark to tell you the truth i feel guilty at times for not putting this car back stock. But if i didn't i'd always wonder what if. I'm glad i had a parts car to strip. That way any part that needs to be modified i use one off the parts car. I'm gathering a pile of really good stock parts. I have the next few days off so there should be a lot of progress and pictures to come.
  18. Some of the Speed Hut goodies........More on the way.
  19. I got the radiator from AZC, shroud is from Summit.
  20. Moving at a snails pace.... Currently i'm dealing with trying to get everything plumbed up. If I find what i need it's out of stock or four times the price. I think the inter cooler, radiator and electric fan came out good, I still have room for an engine oil cooler. The ac condenser is sandwiched in there too. It's starting to get a little crowded on the passenger side so i'm thinking at this point the ac dryer will have to be mounted on the driver's side. Here are a few crappy pictures with my new junk camera.
  21. Did i mention how much weight savings there are with a re-wire?
  22. Whenever there is a project there are highs and lows. On this project there have been very few lows except my checking account. About three hours after setting the drive line in place i'm not really digging the fitment. Fast forward a few weeks and a few tweeks here and there things are shaping up rather nice. On the list of while i'm at it are a complete re-wire of the entire car,Speed Hut instruments, LED this and that, AND just a hint of CF. My only regret is i didn't get the starting weight of the car when i bought it.
  23. For street driving i prefer a little softer springs than most but still love the big massive sway bars. I think my car has a good compromise between body roll and the ability to soak up some bumps. Most race tracks are way better than public roads and you can run a very stiff suspension without it beating you to death. Run that race car on the street and you'll be needing a kidney belt to drive it.
  24. I would but everything is scattered everywhere.... LOL Yea let's see everyone's rides. I need some inter cooler ideas.
