  1. I wasn't planning on copy the above chassis. It was just a good example of a shortened torque tube along with the integration of the front and rear suspension into a car other then the corvette. I would likely do something a bit different. I would plan on taking the corvette suspension and all the the driveline, and then designing a tube chassis of sorts that would fit under the z car body. I do realize this is a huge project that would take a lot of design. I'll do some solidworks chassis models to show you guys later tonight. Regards, Justin
  2. I found that the c5 track width is 62.5". Whats a 240z? I dont have my car here to measure. Justin
  3. I've been considering taking a corvette c5 rolling chassis and putting it under a 240z. I've been seeing a lot of these on ebay for 5k-10k. I think this is a pretty good deal. You would need to shorten the torque tube. I'm not sure about the track width. I'd like to measure the track width and see how close the two are. Here is a good thread on LS1Tech of a C5 chassis under a cobra fiberglass body: http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=633359 Another rediculous chassis: http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569385 Justin
  4. I just posted those pictures from the ebay ad. Not mine.
  5. For the money, the EZ Wiring kits are just as good as painless but at half the cost. http://www.ezwiring.com
  6. That yellow Z car is what got me interested in datsuns back when it was featured in hot rod magazine pumpgas drags. I love it!!
  7. So I went to fire up my 280z today. I accidently grabbed my girlfriends spare ford probe key instead of the 280z key. I go to start the car up and it fires right up. I had no problem starting and driving my 280z with the ford probe key. This really scares me. Does anyone else have issues with worn out ignition locks that will turn over with any key? I need to rig up a hidden switch when I rewire this car. Justin
  8. WOW, thats pretty extreme. What flares are you planning? Justin
  9. I like the EZ wiring kit. A 12 circuit kit is plenty. http://www.ezwiring.com/minitwelve.htm
  10. Are you going to remove part of the roof to completely weld the halo bar in place? Why didn't you wait to weld in the main hoop in until you had the hallo bars done? That way you could have dropped the cage down and finished the welds completely. Also, why halo over the alternative of A pillar bars with a cross tube? Most of the cages I've seen with the halo bar have trouble fitting the halo up really tight against the roof. Anyway good job making progress! That bender is pretty interesting. I'm just concerned with the amount of effort to start bends. Justin
  11. After seeing this picture in the before and after thread, it kind opened my eyes to the downside of these little sports cars. I think it would be good for all of us if we saw what CAN happen to our Z if we dont drive responsibly. Anyway, please post pictures of wrecked Z cars. I think its for the good of the community to remind us what can happen. Regards, Justin Olson
  12. Anyone have a picture of the gold/bronze car with volk racing wheels on it? I really liked that one. Justin
  13. Please add some more pictures to the thread. I want to see some really nice stock fender S30's. Justin
  14. Sorry to bump this old thread, but how did you like using this pipe cutter for sectioning the struts? I have one at home and had never thought about using it.
  15. I like this one, but maybe a little darker:
  16. I'd probably use this audi paint code:
  17. I'm thinking of painting my 280z gunmetal grey. Does anyone have pictures of gunmetal grey 240z-280zs? I want to see how this color looks on these cars. This is the only picture I've been able to find so far: Regards, Justin
