  1. Heh All i remember is there being TURBO in huge letters on the valve cover
  2. ? That post is really confusing. So your saying that theres two wires coming out of the starter wire. One that sends the 12v to the button and the other sends the 12v to the starter. How i want the wiring set up is the key most be on the on position to be able to hit the starter button to stop peeps from sitting and draining my battery. I really would like to figure this out for my self. How bout you tell me what wires go wear and then i think i can understand it. Sorry if im angering you guys with the noobish questions
  3. Ill buy one if i can get a z emblem on it besides that i have enough keys heh
  4. Just to double chechk are you sure the red and white is the ign and the yellow and black is the starter on a datsun 280z 76
  5. I have to say your lucky to have 2 z's i would love to have 2 but i plan on putting alot of money into the one i have. Right now im sure chicks would laugh at the interior of my car the carpets nearly gone. Seats are destroyed. Door panels are ripped to hell but hey Do i have fun working on it hell yes.
  6. Theres a few people who have two zs one with for daily driving and such and another as the project car. Me i like to balance good driving and Some project car into one package. My 76 has custom a/c wich has a seperate controller and its freaking awesome. As for being bumpy you can get new shocks etc and litteraly rebuild the whole thing. Me myself since my seats are torn to hell im getting some nice new seats along with lumbar support and a 5 point harness. Now thats what i call balance between comfort and having a fast car. Btw this is the seat i plan to buy http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-4004&Category_Code=PIC05 Expensive YES!! Awesome Definetly I love the nice z emblem and the 5 point harness for safety
  7. Remember this if the car is made before 76 you will most likely have to have stuff updated here in sunny ca thats how it is guess what my cars a 76 so i barely made the cut along with the crappy 4 speed Either way since its a fairlady i would go for it and how much is it.
  8. 280z 76 but the wires seem very similar. thats what i was going todo i just wanted to make sure the black yellow wire is the starter wire white red is the power. Since im baseing the wiring off the old wiring i dont think ill need a relay
  9. Switch is rated to 60 amps What i need to know is what wire from the ignition i need tot ap into to hook the switch up the swithc has two poles starter and ingition. Seems simple
  10. Since im rather new I need to know howto wire this thing upto my ign. And rather should i use the old wire coming of the starter or wire up something new. Most likely i would rather use the old wiring and simply hook up the button. But can someone tell me what to wire up. So far i know the starter wire is black and yellow but i dont know what the other wire should be. Edit S2000 guide wont work since the button in that guide has three prongs the one i have only has two ignition switch and starter
  11. Bump Old topic yes but better than making a new thread anyone up for a little chatting today
  12. Would be a good parts car. thats actually possible to rebuild aswell.
  13. Is there a way to test my starter wire. Btw thanx for the post. I was thinking one of the wires in the ign bundle is a power as i said in my post im just not sure which one.
  14. Ive been searching through four or five threads and it seems this is a rtaher common problems with 280z. Normally i wouldnt care but alass it has happened to me. Everything goes good until i get to the start area. After looking at lots of ways people have fixed it (slacking off key,Trying to turn it more,Wobbling it around) I figured that should attempt to find a fix for The peeps that have the problem. This fix i want to have functionalty out of the actual start switch. Instead of one of those push button start mods. After realising im not one to wire through the car and arent in the mood todo that. I moved onto the zcars forums and found a post (unfortanetly forgot the posters name) It seems this is caused by the ignition switch going out of sync over time and generally breaking. What i want todo is find a way to fix this without getting a new ign (mainly becuase i have enough to worry about cash wise) First thing i would like to know is how to test the starter wire off of the ign. I know which cable it is im just not sure what todo. Im guessing one of the wires on the ign bundle is a power cord so that it powers the others. Heh i realise i got a bit ahead of myself but hopefully if i figure this out it can help the z peeps who have similar problems More info to come as i attempt to figure out the mechanics of the ign switch etc etc
  15. Okay Thankyou so much kc it works fine it seems theres some fubered wiring What todo now hehe
  16. MayOlives - I dont think i want to mess with the wiring considering this is a new wiring harness Oh yeah sorry but its a datsun 280z Kcelectronics - Yeah that small wire is still connected i thought that was the ground and by the two connwectors do you mean the two directly next to eachother or the one with the wire leading off and the other thats bolted to the tranny
  17. Currently my starter isnt doing anything i turn the key i dont here a click a turn anything if tried smacking the solenoid to no avail. Before i put in my new battery starter seemed fine and turned the engine (slowly Probally becuase it has been sitting for 3 years) And seemed fine. The battery that was in it was quite fubered. I bought a new one. So got in tested lights blinkers etc everything seems fine. I turn the key ....Nothing. Anyways i took out the starter and im probally going to put it back in and try wobbling the key and see if that works. Besides that all fuses etc seem good. Any ideas?
