LOL, I could never understand this either. PS3, halo whatever... I waited for ps3 and got it for a steal of a deal. I also have halo 3, got it yesterday. My gamertag is Racinjitter. Hit me up, I am on every few days or so.

I have heard a few bad things about fidanza also, I have seen the aftermath of one on a vg30et. Very similar to the skyline one going through the hood. As for clutches, my preference would be something that I know the reputation of, like dxd or whatever. My next clutch will be a dxd stage 5 rated for 690 lb/ft tq... Here is a link to what I will be installing this winter... http://www.z31parts.com/drivetrain.html. I have talked with Jason the owner of z31parts and he says that it would be no problem to switch out the pressure plates from a z31 to a z32 n/a (same as rb tranny's) at no additional cost. He also told me that even though the clampload has been increased, the pedal feel remains very close to stock. Personally I cannot justify the cost of an osgiken or excedy, considering that they dont have that great of torque ratings unless you get a double or tripple plate at ~$1500+.

I pulled the engine/tranny out of the parts car this past weekend. I decided to drop everything out the bottom, there was like 20 bolts total to get it out. With working on the ground it took me about a hour and a half to get it out. It is much harder to pull everything from the top from my experiences.

Not to rain on anyones parade, but I have heard of nothing but bad things about jgy flywheels. Like the ring gear slipping off of the flywheel. Look it up on nico or race bread.
-
LOL, Maybe this winter I can get ahold of some 280zx cv's and measure them up.
-
As of right now we are leaning twards either the 6th or 7th. We are waiting for a reply to see if some guys from the west side of the state are going to be able to come out.

About the r200 longnose output shafts, I havent seen any break personally but I know that some have been broken with 450whp/500wtq. JasonNA2T has done this. First things to break for z31's are usually the stub axles at the hub, then as the power goes up the stuff twards the diff starts breaking.
-
Yes it is a Z31 rearend. I can tell by the exhaust hanger mounted to the top of the diff/subframe bolts. If you can maesure your 280 cv's I wil measure a set of my z31 cv's and compare.

I hope everyone sees these new forums soon. Once I get a decent tune in for a rb25det I will post it up.

There is a power fc for sale on race bread. They want a LOT of money for it though.

What to look for when purchasing a Z31?
Racinjitter replied to wheelman's topic in Z31 Series - 300ZX
On my 88 before the swap I also had a draw I went through all of the fuses and noticed that it went down from 2.6A to 2.1A when I took out the fuse for the interior lights. My major draw was actually from the alternator once I unplugged it the draw was a respectable 0.15A. The reason that the alternator was drawing current is the internal diode was bad. -
Will you still have to run a MAF with the greddy emanage, safc and pro fc? If so dont forget to get a better one of those~$100.
-
Out of curiosity how much does a greddy emanage ultimate, powerfc and safc cost? Just wondering how much of a difference they are from a full standalone. You could always go with a used standalone, I am sure someone on the board has one.

Scotty got a few 1.8 60' times IIRC. I think I will be able to get a 1.9 no problem next time. This was the first time with this car, It should only get better.
-
Yea, I really need to get my 60' times down further. I started out the day pulling 2.5 60's. Once that solid disc grabs there is NO give in anything and tons of grip. I am kinda worried about my halfshafts though, I have 3 complete sets of turbo ones laying around but no n/a halfshafts. This winter I'll take care of that issue, then I'll have to worry about stub axles and the r200. LOL, So a few of us are standing around and both scotty and I have our hoods open and are discussing the differences between my stock rb25 and scotty's modded rb25 when this wrecker pulls up next to us and the toothelss driver says "sumebody need'n a tow?" Mike and I look at each other contemplating something smartass to say..... I say "nope I didnt break my car, you may want to drive around a little to find em'" Mike then adds quickly " What kind of cars do you think these are? These are Nissans they dont break! We drive them to the track, beat the snot out of em' and drive them home." . The toothless driver then mumbles, "Welp I guess I'll go look for someone who is need'n a tow den."

Great write up KTM! Couple Q's though, doesnt the wolf have a 2 bar internal map sensor? Where did you get your base map? I have been looking for a wolf tuning forum to no avail.

Or just go here... http://forums.hybridz.org/forumdisplay.php?f=87

I'd say bite the bullet and run another EMS all together. Scotty is running a haltec and I will be running a wolf(in the next few weeks). If you need to know just about anything about standalones, contact ron tyler. That is his screen name here. I am pretty sure that he will know a lot about the emanage, safc and the power fc. I am sure he can describe most of the differences.

Well I took the car to the strip today and the first 4 runs were under stock boost, the best was... 2.129 60' 5.839 330' 8.899 1/8 @ 79.963 11.454 1000' 13.720 1/4 @ 104.105 The best run I had at 13.5psi was a 2.066 60' 5.723 330' 8.754 1/8 @ 80.936 11.289 1000' 13.551 1/4 @ 104.121 About 150' from the 1/4 mark I was hitting the rev limiter in 3rd gear in all of the runs except for one. Didnt get to weigh the car, but I am pretty sure it is around 3000-3100lbs. Next time I will get the times down further. The first half of the runs I was spinning in 2nd, then the track was prepped and I didnt have any more traction problems. Any how here is a video of a high boost run that I botched the launch, I didnt slip the clutch I just side stepped it and bogged really badly.

my rb25det 280z's first run at the track

Good runs Scotty, We need to do it again before it gets too cold. I would like to get my 60' times down a little further also. I cant beleieve some of the posters on fresh alloy. I am glad that we have this community, and a real plethora of great information. Triple B come on out to the next Ubly day we have. I was trying to get a few people to go from the michigan nissans forums, but most were hung over. -
Looks like you want to run the same turbo as I will be running next year. I have it sitting in the basement waiting for the Wolf EMS. Also I found out that there is another rbZ31 running here in Mi. It is this car.... . The old owner from florida sold it on ebay and local detroiter bought it. Yep he is running A/C and PS. I wish I had A/C. I have been trying to contact the owner to join up on some forums to give a little more info about it. But from what I am told the engine/turbo is stock.

No More Clutch Type LSDs!!!!!! (Nismo, Power Brute, etc)
Racinjitter replied to Savage42's topic in Drivetrain
I was just saying that the Kaaz is more oriented twards a drift car, Doesnt have to be though. From my experience with detroit lockers they are no where near as loud as this Kaaz is. It seriously sounded like it was ripping the car apart. Also this car that I rode in is a purpose built drift car that hardly ever gets driven on the streets. -

Racinjitter replied to Savage42's topic in Drivetrain
I have been in a z31 with a kaaz lsd and every time he turned it went BANG BANG BANG BANG, not quietly might I add. It was very loud and definately set up for drift. -
Scotty, I know this is off topc, But what Kind of fuel mileage have you been getting? I took my car to and from work a few times not and seem to be getting around 25mpg with a little messing around. Oh and the speedo is dead nuts on right now with your gps, 75 at 3k rpm with a 3.90 diff. 3.70 going in this weekend. Unless you want to go to the track still.
