ok guys the timng was only off like 3to 4 degrees so now it's 20 degrees btdc and it runs better and i can get more boost out of it.But it still doesn't explain the plugs.I'll just buy bosch plugs and call it good if it breaks those then it's definately an engine prob.Thanks guys

thanks for the help guys i really appreciate the comments.Now to the tech part ok i'm running ac delco plugs(i know not the best)they are for the zxt motor.I was also thinking maybe they could be too hot and when the turbo blows cooler air on them they might be breaking.Or it could be that it is detonating and i am not hearing it.I am gonna check the timing tonight to make sure it's right i could have timed it wrong too.The plugs are all black from running rich but the first time this happened they where all brownish except for the broken one it was black from all the gas not getting burned right.After it started running bad i drove alot on them that's why they are black.I think i'm gonna go with bosch plugs now and get rid of the ac delco ones.I just put them in cuz i needed somthing and they where there.Like i said as far as the plugs actually breaking into pieces they aren't you can't even see where they broke it's up so far into the plug.I wish i could show them to you guys it would be a little easier.Everyone i show them to is baffled too unless i got a bad batch of plugs.I dunno but i have the boost turned back and i am taking it easy until i figure out what it is.I do have a a/f gauge and it's an autometer one works great and it never goes lean it actually runs rich ad i just replaced the o2 sensor so i know it's good.I'll keep you guys posted my g-friend's dad who i get my parts from is gonna call ac delco and ask them.

see i thought of that too but the car didn't detonate at all.They didn't chip at all they just broke and slid down like they got hot and cooled too quick.I would have known if it had detonated i know what it sounds like and feels like.

hey guys i was driving my car and it felt sloooooooow so i figured well maybe the humidity but then i reved it up and it reved slow too so i took the plugs out and three had the ceramic around the electrode broken It just broke and slid over the gap of the plug this happened one time before but it only effected one plug and now i have three.Has anyone ever seen this happen?If so why?

well the what do i call old is a loaded question so i will have to say when you think you can beat a sports car with a family car that you just bought cuz you can't handle a sports car anymore then your old I have a 4" tip on my car but i also have 3" exhaust pipe going to the muffler and it came with the 4" tip.I'll just have to try the detroit area i'm sure i can find someone to race there win or lose.

well not really but i have reduced my self to racing old guys .They are the only ones who want to race anymore.I went to Grand Rapids this weekend and there is a lot there that all the rice and muscle and bikes hang out at.We show up and chill and get some people looking at the z.My friend dave had another friend who has an eclipse with a t3/t4 hybrid turbo(not too impressive to me)so he asks the guy and he says i'll think about it when just beofre he was saying he was looking to race someone.Then never seen the guy again he took off little after that.Then on the way to the lot there was a 70's camaro with hood scoop,slicks very loud going to the lot too and he pulled next to me reving his engine so i do a quick lunge forward letting the bov say a few things and then he backed off I dunno guys i can't even get races in another city i think it's just my luck tho I know my car isn't all that fast but i really want to see how it would do and i would do too.And i can't get andy out here to whoop him ok tho back to the old guy that i raced yesterday we have about 4-5 stop lights in our little city here and i was at the last one where it turns 4 lanes to 2 and i always go the out side lane to beat the traffic and to try to race So i pull up next to this guy in a new bonneville ssei the supercharged one.He looks at me like he was disgusted or something so i was like screw this guy.The light turned yellow on the other side of the light and i saw him pull forward so i knew he was gonna try to hold me off.So when it turned green i took off slowly and he took off fast so i stepped on itspooled up to about 13 psi the tires breaking loose and sliding i cought up quick and hit sceond breaking the tires loose again as it spooled up(you know those bonne's are quick little buggers)i went past him and let off and before i knew it he was on my butt again must have been mad or something.So a little down the road he passed me and i wasn't about to speed up or anything i just let him pass then he tried ot proove he could loose me in top end Well needless to say the old guy got a surprise i stuck to his bumper all the way to about 100mph then just let off not wanting a ticket for speeding.I must be getting board to pick on old people in new cars I need real races !!!!!

i got a blitz bov and it's pretty loud too.Everyone around here has never heard a bov before so they think i'm breaking stuff when i let off the throttle under boost hey ZR8ED are you still using the stock turbo or do you have a hybrid?What i are you using again?

well the car runs ok and for those of you who don't know i am still running the stock efi system.The problem i have is it'll run rich til it hits about 11or 12 psi do a quick spike of lean running then go rich again and pull like hell all the way to red line at 15 psi, like a studder then it's fine and only does it in first and second gear I was thinking maybe the fuel pump sound right or what?It's all stock still no upgrades yet.I plan to upgrade the wire to the fuel pump tomorrow like scottie did.Help....... someone..... and please don't tell me to get an aftermarket system if i could i would rememeber i'm poor.

you can put a turbo on just about anything.I turbocharged a mazda B2000 and it worked just fine.I'm gonna do it to my friend's 82zx and just run stock boost cuz the compression ratio is higher on the n/a models.Just don't get crazy with the boost and it should be ok.

it's ok andy i figured you where busy.Tara was bummed buti told her you had company.I prolly won't be out there for a bit either just cuz i need that ic mine sucks and i need drag slicks cuz these street tires don't hook too well.I can't wait to get it out there with a good ic and some slicks but knowing me i'll break much more.....Oh ya andy do you have an extra driveshaft?Mine is shot and it is dented from the diff going up and hitting the floor.It held up great the whole day but i don't think it'll hold much more.

ok guys i was thinking the track here and i think along with all the race tracks require a roll cage after you get into the 11's.So i was wondering where i could et one for the first gen zs?I see alot of people with them and do they have to meet a certain standard?Like could you get your own pipe and weld it in your self?

thanks guys and i have had better 60' times last year like in the 1.7's and 1.8's so a 2.0 is a kick in the butt.I weighed my car yesterday and it weighs in at a wopping 2700 lbs with out me and with a full tank of gas.I have a good feeling mak that i will get into the 11's very easily.Andy i'm comin for you and your vegatable engine oh ya sleeper i am running street tires with lots of wheel spin oh ya we have 110 octane here our premium is 94 here man i love Michigan no smog and hella octane ratings

good question shane i know the stock system is batch fire so it doesn't matter the order it might be the same with the sds but i dunno.Two of us will learn from this one:)

ok guys the first run i was scared to break something so i managed a 14.33@109mph So i had to try again and managed to burn the tires thru first and second and hit third squealing (Man that thing has power) So i tried again and got a 13.16@108mph i was getting better and could feel it more and how to launch.The new clutch is hard to get use to since i was so use to the stock clutch.I ran on street tires got a crappy 60' time and still pulled off some good runs.OK after that i knew i could do better so i tried one more time.Lined up with this camaro with a huge hood scoop and slicks and it was VERY loud.So we launch and i actually beat him off the line squealing and sliding and looked down to see what was going on with the engine and realized that it had only been running 10 psi of boost The volvo ic gave away again but it had done it way earlier in the day.I thought it was just cuz i was letting off that's why it read 10 psi before. I don't look down hardly at all so i didn't realize that i ran 10 psi of boost all day.The place where i epoxied it gave way cuz i didn't clean and rough it up enuf for it to hold good But it was my fault and it is still flexing the end caps Ok so you want the rest of the details well i got the jump on the camaro like i said and he started gaining very little down the rest of the track and he just barely crept by.So here it is drum roll please............... 60' time 2.003 220' 5.516 1/8 8.353 1/8 mph 86.753 1000' 10.738 and a grand finally of 12.865@109.339mph and with major wheel spin pump gas street tires and 10 psi of boost and a leaking ic.I thought it was very good for that and it's my personal best..... Andy please update my time

well guys they had one here for the homecoming for a town around here.I wasn't gonna enter it but they hwere all V8's So i figured to show them what a real engine would do Well at first they all laughed when i stalled it in second gear when i tried the first time to do the burn out.So i tached it up more and let her loose and man that got everyone's attention They just all stared like holy $hit as i totally covered the car is tire smoke i couldn't even see the flag guy who starts and stops you Then after i realzied he was waving the flag i let off and a big pshhhh and they all went ohhhhhh thinking i blew something it was great.And of course the only import But it was fun and i didn't break anything so i still plan to make my run saturday at the track to get some times up.

i use radiator pipe hoses and the only time mine blow off is when i forget to tighten them I plan to get better ones later but i dunno where to get them

well i'm still driving mine andy after breaking all that stuff I figured it would go sometime soon cuz it was all stock 76 parts.But i have cv's i just need the cash to get a set of adapters from ross.I plan to have this job i have been doing done soon so i can afford them.And that "other" turbo guy would have your V8 as a vegetable drink I'll prolly call you tonight to find out about your adpaters.

hey cody i just rebuilt mine and did it all stock and mine works fine well good enuf to break u joints I just went with new rings on the stock pistons had a valve job done and polished the intake ports.So if you don't have alot then just do it stock so far my stock pistons have held up very good.

i think andy was scared that he would get whooped. If i can break u joints and mounts then i must be making some good power I plan to run next weekend if my new diff mount comes and i have to plan on getting the cv adapters soon cuz i don't think the u joint ones will hold.The drive shaft is another problem i think i'll have next time so i plan to fix the problems before they become them.But i'll have a time slip next weekend cuz it's all test and tune all day long i plan to make some light runs with street tires and then strap on the slicks and see what she will do.I want to also put in some racing fuel and see what i can get out of her.Maybe also i'll have the ic from timz so it'll run even better.I have to say the car still scares me when i get into the boost and it's only at about 15 or so cuz the ic is leaking i think.Then maybe andy will have the guts to come and watch my fart pipe all the way doen the track I have to get my mount hopefully it'll be in thursday or sooner if not then maybe i'll weld mine so i can run it at the track.I wish someone made a nylon mount or something strong and quiet.I'd go with the solid one but i couldn't stand the noise it makes.I do have vid of me breaking the car it's really impressive seeing the burn out and even slipping the clutch slowly and it still spun and broke stuff.I also got the sound could hear the bov and turbo spool up it's nice to just hear that and the car looked nice while it broke Well i'll have a time sl;ip for you guys next saturday sorry.

nope the twice pipes sit sidde by side i had a set and i didn't have to cut up my 76z.I did have to make it fit my header but that was it and they do sound GREAT i put them on my friend's 280zx and they fit and sound great.I don't know how big the opening is for the 240z if that's what you have but mine fit perfect on my 76.

well guys i wish i could tell you that i got a good time.But first i have to ask does a no show on andy's part give me the victory? Well here is the story i get all ready and people are looking at me kinda funny cuz it was the budweiser shoot out and my car is the ONLY import.So i'm in the staging lanes and this nice guy comes up(he owns the car in front on mine)and says is that a 280z?I say yep and he says i have a 71 240 but it's in pieces right now.I say ohh and he says it runs 7's in the quarter So we talked a bit and i finally got up for my turn(there was alot of cars)so i put on my helmit and get up to the line do a really good burn out and stage the light turns yellow and then green and i rev up on yellow and green i'm off then about 1/2 a sec later BOOOOOM the car slows to a stop i try to move it more and just clunks .I get out and look under the car and see the half shaft broke.So i waved the track guys over and they helped push me out of the way.I got lucky and found a u joint only one but it was all i needed.So i work my butt off to get this u joint in and notice that the half shaft is bent on the part where the u joint goes in(must have did a good job breaking it).But i made it fit and put it back in the in hopes that i can run at least once since i payed to do it.So i get in to try and go around to get back to the staging lanes when i hear CLUNK so i get out again and look and see the diff mount really broken torn apart i just gave up didn't want to even try after that i didn't have enuf time.I saw what happend it broke the rubber strap and the cabled one i put on earlier it didn't break it but pulled all the cable coating off the aircraft cable i put on.So i fixed it so i could drive home and then tightend the cable up really good so i can drive it till the new mount comes in.So my day at the track really sucked
