OTM vs. Veritech-Z: Loudmouth_Z vs. Camo Zzzap

Bschiltz is more than welcome to join up. B_sosick's backing me up with the Magnum Z.I.! OTM, you're going down for sure! Mike, I kind of got run over by the Lucky train when I was turbo shopping. I got the turbo from one guy, and the intercooler from that same guy's brother. If you know what you need, and have long enough to wait, you can find good deals. As for complete...I still need oil lines and plumbing, but I do have a split housing t4 flange (that is another ebay special, and doesn't exactly line up to EITHER of the t4 housings I've got...) so when it comes time to put my manifolding together it shouldn't be too bad. I figure I can turn some shorty headers around or upside down or something, which would just leave me having to fabricate the cross tubes that will join them up to the turbo. I'm planning to mount the turbo between the engine and radiator, sideways. Then run the "downpipe" out the passenger side fender. As seen in this drawing: It's going to be and sound nasty, but that's all for the intimidation factor. Psych warfare baby! -
I'll see what I can do...you know...for the team so to speak.

You don't need pencils! My black and whites were straight into pen, no pre-sketching at all. Thanks for the compliments, I'll probably be sending my portfolio in via email as requested in the next few days.

Also I'm planning to use Megasquirt on a TPI setup. I think OTM is going with Wolf? seems like that's what I heard last. I really don't want much more than 350/400 hp (I know I'll be pushing my luck big time with a t-5), I'm not trying to win any dyno shootouts. I figure that if OTM can get his car together like he wants it, it *should* be a faster car. He's got coilovers, while I've got the tokiko 1" drop with matching blue inserts, and I've got almost all of a uerethane suspension kit (just need to do the rear LCA's) which will likely be as far as I take my suspension, short of the possible addition of strut tower braces. Any brake upgrades beyond stock will probably just be the 4X4 calipers on new rotors, I may or may not upgrade to discs in the rear. I've also got about 50-60 pounds less than he does due to "natures wieght reduction" (rust baby, yeah!), in addition to a nut and bolt reduction, stage III (leftover parts: where does that go? in the coffee can, that's where...). That said, I ain't skeered of a good run or two...even if his car IS built ford tuff... -
So here's how that last one turned out: And here's a different one that I finished today. Started it yesterday, and finished up after work today. Probably something close to 5 hours in this one, all told...It's a guy hunting feral tree crabs.

Oh I'm going crappy, don't you worry your pretty little head there, Mikey. I've got a leg up in that I've already got a real live Garret T-04 ($50), a factory top mount Nissan Sunny Pulsar GTi-R Intercooler ($40), and an SSautojunk wastgate ebay special ($100) ((that's right, my crappy wastgate cost more than the rest of my turbo stuff COMBINED)). I've got a buddy who's wedding I'm best man-ing who just happens to have a freshly rebuilt 350 from a 73-ish corvette in his closet, I'm just working on how much it's going to cost me to: a)get the engine and get a transmission to go behind it. Right now I'm thinking T-5, though I know RonTyler has something to say about it... I'm on the cheap to free plan, so if anyone is tired of OTM's trash talking and would like to invest in the smack-down of the millenium, post all donations to the "Veritech-z needs serious help" fund via PM. .....The gauntlet is thrown. Junkyard wars will now commence... -
Preparing for my turbo build, input is appreciated - parts list inside
veritech-z replied to ktm's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
Why not a Walbro 255 pump? They make them in both internal and external, and they're much cheaper than a lot of the alternatives. I had a buddy with an SR20det powered S13 that was using that pump with good results, and another guy with a turbo Civic that has had it in for about 50k miles now with no problems. -
240z compaired to 280z front spoiler..which one?
veritech-z replied to gearheadstik's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Why not run both signals? I've never seen anybody do that...Oh! but instead of 280 signals, mount some square driving lights there! -
The one saturn uses on the Ion and Vue was total garbage. I've railed on it's non-merits elswhere, but EVERY one that left the showroom ended up on the service drive at least once. From a gutless 2.2L...I've heard the one Nissan was using on the Murano is supposedly reliable, but the GM one is total junk. (I work in a Saturn parts department so I see them ALL the time)

I like it here too. I haven't had issues with too many members, and the one or two times I did, it resolved itself pretty quickly with no harm done. I'm a frequent lurker over at www.cryptozoology.com, and they actually have a forum dedicated to a creationism/evolution debate, and you want to talk about personal attacks! I don't know, that's the kind of place that's hard to take seriously, so I can understand people not acting like adults. But it's for that reason I'm not actually a member over there. I like bigfoot and nessie as much as the next guy, but who needs the headache of arguing with kids? I had a bunch of friends that were all into online forums for various models or interests, and I used to be dead set against joining up because all I ever saw was people arguing, or making one liner "nice ride, yo!" type comments...but then I stumbled across Hybridz, which was filled with reasonable, intelligent posts (for the most part), and it was actually the first forum I ever joined. I post a little bit over at classiczcars now too, but only because Hybridz is locked out at my job. They're nice there, but it's not quite the same. Also http://www.Japanesenostalgiccar.com, that's a new one that is pretty fun because they have all kinds of different models represented.

Mike's talking about those gearless rubber band boxes that have two pulleys with variable ratios (One of the pulleys is actually two cones with the tips facing each other that get closer and further apart so the belt rides higher or lower as necessary to constantly change the ratio). I've never heard of one that could handle that kind of HP...

I want to say that www.kodiakracingwheels.com might be able to get you a blank wheel, but I'm not sure. I've only tried to get the rim sections from them before, but they were very helpful on the phone.

Right on about it moving too fast, you never know who is talking to whom either...

Huh, worked for me...I had to confirm that I knew it might be for mature viewers though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh6fNmUINRk Just search for Anna Nichole Smurf if you really want to watch it.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to edit Kanye into saying "turn that Benz INTO a Datsun..." (I dj in case nobody knew that...)

Not nearly as bad as the "terry shciavo hospital gown" that turned up on ebay...That was the girl who lost all mental function in a car accident and her husband decided to pull the feeding tube recently if you didn't catch all the hype (I think they even made a south park about it). That was all going down here in Tampa is the only reason I heard about the gown showing up on ebay. I think they pulled the auction...

Do you have a straight on pic? I just wanted to see how much coverage the edges give to the front of the tire. Very nice fabrication!

Isn't somebody making an aftermarket paddle shift conversion for chevy automatics now? Let me see if I can get a link from the good ol' internet here, hang on... *edit* here you go, take it for what it's worth... http://www.twistmachine.com/

I thought I read somewhere that the Maxima had a mid sump? I'm pretty sure there are clearance issues on the L28et in some fashion, but I don't remember exactly what they were. What's the problem with just bolting on the turbo stuff though?

building a dream or wasting your cash?
veritech-z replied to grumpyvette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
My philosophy kind of goes like this: If it breaks, upgrade it. This usually causes something ELSE to break, allowing you to upgrade that. It's a lot easier to justify spending money on an upgrade if the old part is not perfectly fine. As for engine philosphy, I try to only get parts that will still be good regardless of my powerplant for my L series. I'm trying to get the bugs worked out of my megasquirt now so I can get the hang of tuning it on a V8. I've got a t4 turbo that I'm saving for my 350, and so on. I've kind of resigned myself to the low performance I've got now, kind of like skipping luch to have a big dinner. It took me a while to learn some of the lessons Grumpy is teaching, for instance: 1) Do NOT try to hot rod your daily driver, if you can't afford a toy, just wait for awhile 2)do it right the first time, it's SO much more expensive to reinvent the wheel when you can talk to people that have already done what you are thinking of I always tell people to plan a PERFORMANCE goal, and then take the most cost-effective, reliable way to achieve that. I used to be swimming in Honda guys when I worked at the Acura dealership, and all they know is brand name this, and high dollar that, I think they just get caught up in the "scene" more than they actually want a fast car. I always heard "I'm going to get cams and do it NA, I can always go turbo later..." I actually saw a guy try to do this once, his car would stall out at idle because his cams were so radical (and not adjusted correctly) BEFORE the turbo, I was like "that thing isn't even going to start..." Sure enough, back to stock cams. There's something to be said for learning as you go, but that supposes you are even interested in learning I guess...
