I think you are right, because MSA asks for cores back I believe.

boodlefoof, so you have any designs you could post for how that's going to work? Are you going to cut into the roof a little bit and make that a part of the door? Supposedly, the DeLorean mechanism for doing it is really good, but I've only read that on a DeLorean site that was comparing them to the method that Brickland's cars used.

Nice clean car, welcome back!

You could always do something like the car in this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114800

It's not about the Z32, but I'm pretty sure there are some dimensions for the v-12 on this thread here:http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111184&highlight=smoothness+bmw+v12 Welcome to the forums, and good luck with your project!

Strut bars....... Are they worth the money?
veritech-z replied to biohazard53188's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
The CAI for the z is kind of silly, because it puts the air filter in the same location as stock, just open element instead of in that super heavy metal air box. I would say it is probably worthwile from a weight reduction point of view, but I wouldn't expect to see much of a power improvement. -
No, this particular camera hasn't got a macro mode, it's just a digital point and shoot, but I do have a 35mm SLR with a macro lens, so I guess I'll have to break down and shoot some actual film, and scan the results. I agree, whatever this operation was, it seems completely pointless. I'm not familiar with an 05L head, what's the story with that one?

I posted this on another thread, and it got a little sidetracked from its original topic. I've got what appears to be a round port N42 head, and I'm being told this can't be. Speeder said he had a reman engine that had the ports ground out to round, and I'm inclined to agree that of the likely scenarios, this is the most probable. So far, at least BRAAP is stumped. It looks like the square port was welded up, and then cut out with some kind of valve seat cutter (or something similar), because the basic shape of the port seems roughly rectangle, but the opening is round. Whatever the situation, it looks extremely proffessional, and borderline factory. I took some pics with my digital camera, but they aren't especially clear since it wouldn't focus that close to the head. Any ideas? I swear this is like trying to photograph bigfoot...my stupid digital camera wouldn't focus close enough for me to show inside the port, but here's what I got: and here is the combustion chamber, in case anybody is interested: and before anybody says anything, I cleaned out number one cylinder's combustion chamber and exhaust port to aid in the clarity of the pictures. __________________

The tb from my pic is off a KA24 from a nissan Stanza. I didn't have to flip it over because the linkage was on the correct side, but it did require a spacer, which you can see there because I left it aluminum instead of painting it to match. I don't have a better picture than that. Big_phil has a weber on his car, send him a pm and ask him about it.

Whatever it is, it's proffessional. I have a 35mm slr camera with a macro lens, I could try taking some better pictures with that and scanning them after I get the film developed if you think better pics would help in a proper diagnosis. *edit*cylinder one is clean because I cleaned it, along with exhaust port number one to clarify the pictures.

I think instead of having parts related goals, maybe you should just have an overall performance goal in mind-then just do whatever will get you there the easiest. Garrett seems to be making pretty good power with his setup, I don't really know the specifics, but I heard something about 400hp on the turbo? I don't see why that setup you listed wouldn't be able to get you around where you want to be after tuning. I like the idea of nitrous, but it seems like rented HP a little bit. I would like to get my hands on a kit, if for no other reason than to paint the bottle. I've got some good ideas for what I would do to it... Is that crazy cam you got from BRAAP going to work with turbo, or is it more of an NA spec cam?

That could also be bad valve seals. If you were getting blowby from the rings, that should go down to the crankase, not up to the head, or so I imagine.

huh, must have missed this one when it came out. What a cool project! I took a theme studio course in college that dealt with incorporating sound into art (but pretty much turned out to be an electronic media course). What was cool about it is we went to visit a guy in Palm Harbor FL (30-45minutes from Tampa) that restores classic instruments (mostly guitars, but other guitar-ish instruments as well) and also builds his own from wood. It was extremely interesting to talk to him, and see his home and collection. He said that almost all of your sound quality in an acoustic comes from the fretboard and the top piece where your sound hole is. I don't remember which manufacturer it was set out to prove this, and made the back of an acoustic out of paper mache, and legend has it that it sounded great. An anecdote about the class: our final project was to build an instrument, so I went to the junkyard and got a bunch of different sized car horns and made a car horn piano. It was so loud I had to stuff foam in the horns to muffle them, but it was a big hit at my final critique.

For my SUs, that special something was hard starts and gas fumes all the time...

Well, that particular cover IS from antiquity, according to the thread. I imagine the metal frame would look better if it weren't 30 years old. I'd prefer a black frame though. Looks like you screw those in from OUTSIDE the bucket, instead of inside. I bet they would seal better, and be SO much easier to line up correctly...

Mine still has the webbing, but I cut off the egr and made a small plate that I JB Welded on to block off the hole. I debated on cutting the webbing out of mine, and then decided it would be WAY more trouble than it was worth. I then began to kick myself for not cleaning up the non-webbed intake manifold I had in my closet when I had this brilliant idea in the first place...I console myself by saying I'm going to use the bases of the runners that I cut off as the starting point for a totally custom intake manifold that can use my Q45 throttle body, but so far all I've done is cut the runners off the plenum...

I'm still holding out for "what's under the hood?"

Alright, I took some time to clean up one of the exhaust ports for its big photo shoot, and this is what I found: It looks like somebody welded it up, and then cut it out with a valve seat cutter or something similar. There is a lip about 1/4" deep all the way around, and looking down the port, you can see where it used to be square. I can't imagine what the point of this operation was, and it makes me glad I went to a P79. This lip seems very intrusive when you reach your finger in and touch it. I'll still post pictures later, just wanted to give an update. The outer holes are slightly larger than the intake ports, but they taper down for just over 1/8" at what looks like a 45 degree angle or so to the actual port diameter.

Mike, why don't you just take one apart, and bring the body to a concert?

HA-Ha! I was totally going to post the Darkness! I know I'm going against the grain here on the Hybridz Rock Show, but ever since my band moved away, I got really into turntablism. This guy is one of the best there ever was (although he's not dead or retired or anything, he's just that good): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKD0dJvaPOU I've also been really into these guys lately, and I've been after Terry (Corzette) to find me some cd's because they aren't available in the states as of right now. Kind of a J-rock garage band, but I like it a lot. Any anime fans out there would know them from the FLCL soundtrack: this video is kind of bootleg, I guess this came from some Dance Dance Revolution type game, but it's the studio version of one of their songs to give you an idea of what they sound like on the records. And speaking of 3-piece bands and a lot of transitions, check out Hi Standard, another one of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPZD8-poPMg

Until recently I had SU's on my 77, but that's just because the crappy fuel injection wouldn't inject anything but frustration into my driving experience...
