  1. I mentioned it once to somebody because they said their gallery was full already, so I brought up photobucket because it was free and they let you upload a TON of pictures.
  2. Ah-HA! I am familiar with this product, just not by name! My friend had that done on his Cooper S when he bought it. Not a bad idea at all..too bad I already drilled mine out.
  3. Wow, it has a trunk? I've never seen one in person, I always thought it would be a hatch back...Best of luck getting it together, I really like those cars a lot! Anything going on in that neck of the woods in early December? I'm going to Las Vegas with my wife, and I would love to be able to do some guy stuff in addition to all shows (which I like too, don't get me wrong).
  4. That is a great song! I got inspired by big phil to make a video, and I was thinking of trying to organize a Hybridz talent show using Youtube to host the video. Good idea, bad idea? (by the way, this is one of my favorite videos ever made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmMln54lt9A)
  5. Hey Brian, how is the new skyline you got coming, the hatchback one? I assume that's what all these parts are going on?
  6. I hate when stuff like this happens, it really brings me down.
  7. So are we talking about something like 3m double stick mounting tape? I'm not familiar with stone guard tape...
  8. Don't worry about it, I was just curious, but if it's spoken for, I'll pass.
  9. Chewie, you want to paint it like the ZZZap! ?
  10. I don't have much to add, except that my headlight covers came with the L-brackets. I'm not happy with the way they mount, because it was difficult to get them to line up exactly right, and the rubber sealing strip doesn't always like to stay in properly.
  11. Trouble, I like that tomohawk body kit, are those pics from before, or after the fiberglass incident? I want to say that Eric from www.zparts.com was looking for pictures of that bodykit at one time.
  12. I bet you could find a Roadmaster wagon with one for less if you look hard enough. Nobody wants wagons anymore.
  13. I wanna play this game too! Not as pretty as some of the others, but that's what wrinkle finish paint is for!
  14. Yeah, it definitely took some sack to make that decision! I noticed they kept the silly wire spoke wheels though...Value or not, that would be the first thing to go if I ever bought a 2000gt. Don't get me wrong, they would be stacked up in my garage against the day somebody offered me a rediculous sum for the car, but I wouldn't be caught driving around on them.
  15. I've seen that claim about the crank wobble discovery in print before as well. I think you see those kinds of things because legends build up around these certain moments in history, and there are larger than life things happening to larger than life persons. People tend to attribute anything that was above average to someone they already know, becaue it seems probable to them that it happened that way. It sort of reminds me of this cult of Leonardo DaVinci that has sprung up since the DaVinci Code came out: people are trying so hard to link things to him that may or may not have anything to do with him. Yeah the guy was great, but he wasn't the only non-caveman alive at the time. I'd say Edison or Tesla is another one of those historical figures, but I digress a little bit...The BRE legends feel the same way to me. I've heard one also that I don't know if it's possible to verify, that they invented the front spook, or at least coined the term "spook" as a contraction/bastardization of "spoiler" and "duct" as a way through a loophole in the race rules that didn't allow brake ducts, but did allow spoilers (something to that effect anyway, the specifics elude me). I think it's great to have resources on Hybridz and other places that are able to cut through the nonsense and give some real impressions of these things. As for how you would do a real comparison, I'd say take a complete "as intended" LY engine assembly and put it next to whatever was current in the lineup at the time of its release. I'm assuming it was a race only works type option, right? At this point in time, I don't know how you would set that test up, but I'd bet that Nissan had to have done it back then. How do you think an LY head would rate next to that non-crossflow "safari" head you posted awhile back?
  16. So a lot of people reference the "how to modify" claim of 4-6% hp gain that this head made, but obviously in a situation like this that wouldn't really apply. If nothing else, you just removed a huge heat source from your intake track, so in a turbo application, I would guess this would make a much more dramatic difference, right?
  17. http://www.self-preservation-society.co.uk/buses/other.htm that came from one of the links in Materchan's post.
  18. Wow, great pictures! I don't know why I always imagined the LY to have the exhaust on the right side (must be cultural biasing-my car is LHD, so everybody else's must be too?), I guess it would make more sense from a right hand drive point of view to keep it on the left. It's easy to look back now and notice things like the drier tube intake duct and the less than ideal wastegate placement (look at the size of that wastegate!), but I still love to see the pioneers, and how they solved the problems they came across with what was available. Thanks Alan! I'm still holding my breath for the LYTT! *edit* Would that engine have been laid over a little bit for clearance? I'm guessing that pump assembly driven off the crank is for a dry sump, but is that tube on the right a fabricated motor mount?
  19. www.hlj.com has some neat japanese models: http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/tanoue/freedompage.cgi?Code=TOM64331 http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/tanoue/freedompage.cgi?Code=TOM64489 http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/tanoue/freedompage.cgi?Code=EBR43454 http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/tanoue/freedompage.cgi?Code=KSH06002W And here's the rally car from a different web site: http://www.davidsdepot.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=418 Now THIS is a toy!: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00053 Also I like this one "Please do not terrorize the fish." http://www.hlj.com/product/mtw56109 *edit* I took the dead picture links out of this post, they worked when I first linked them, but I guess the website was on to my tricks and closed them...
  20. I've seen the safari rally 240z before, I'll have to try and dig it up...
  21. Honest! I didn't believe it either until I drove her around. She was giggling the whole time! It must have been the fumes getting to her...
  22. If you've reached your pic limit, open an account with www.photobucket.com. Once the pictures are uploaded, right click and copy the thumbnail, then paste it into the thread. That way the thumbnail copies, and when you click on it, it will open up to full size. Nice car, by the way.
  23. I know this thread is older than my niece, but I came across it while reading this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105972 here about the S20 engine. Anyway, I was intrigued by Alan's (HS30-H) mention of having a picture of an LY turbo engine, because it sounded like there was some good story to go along with it. I sent him a PM asking about it, and he suggested I post on this thread so he could put the picture up with some explanation, that way there would be some context to go along with the image. So, here it is. How 'bout it Alan?
  24. Opel GT is very similar, although all the cars you mentioned earlier (minus the e-type) came after the 2kGT. You could probably get an Opel for dirt, too.
  25. Microphone check, one two, one two.
