  1. I saw that nowwhat commercial tonight. I couldn't tell if it was a stripped 2+2 or possibly an MGB-GT, or maybe even a Volvo P1800...I wish it were posted on youtube somewhere so I could get a better look.
  2. Haven't had much time to do any non-school related Z drawing, but I HAVE managed to start a cartoony style S30 in Maya. I'm planning to animated it so that it transforms into the carbot I made for the Jada contest awhile back:
  3. You'll have to be a bit more specific about a "few modifications", but there are plenty of people that are relatively conversant in photoshop (and a few that are pros) that might be able to help out.
  4. What car are those rear louvers supposed to fit? they don't look like they were originally designed for the S30... Are you looking to replace the 1-piece gnose, or just add an airdam to it? I know if I had a gnose on mine, I'd go for the whale tail. Unfortunately those are made of unobtanium, which is getting more scarce by the day...
  5. Those are just begging to get some little trees hand painted on one spoke...What happened to the Magnum Z.I.?
  6. I've noticed a SIGNIFICANT miles per gallon reduction when i'm using the 10% mix in my 02 altima 2.5. I can usually milk it to 27 city and 32 highway on straight gasoline, but when using the ethanol mix, i lose about 5mpg on both numbers on average. I suspect the octane properties of ethanol are why we're seeing this 10% mix at all, and it's being used to spike what would otherwise be even lower grade gasoline than normal...
  7. I'm glad my stencil tutorial was of help to somebody somewhere
  8. Looks like that Suzuki Escudo Pike's Peak Hillclimb car almost. What a cool project that is...
  9. I paid a flat $100 bill for mine last year, and then my buddy offered to sell me his for $25 two days later...I wasn't too happy about that. Wish I'd bought it and flipped one of them now though.
  10. I'm almost positive that hood is the old MSA steel louvered hood (I have an older catalog somewhere that shows that hood in it, but all the new ones have a much less stylish hood in them), but the one they sell now is different. Last time i saw a hood like that for sale was on ebay, literally days before I got my current zcar back in '05. I used to watch for them all the time, but now I don't, so they may be easier to find these days, or harder, I don't really know.
  11. I've never seen the flares on that 2kGT before, what a prime candidate for the supra swap:
  12. Looks like a Tiburon with a bodykit...I don't like the body side scoops or the headlights...or the tusks on the fascia. Man I'm picky...
  13. Looks good Grim, nice drawing! Not too off-the-wall, but then again, it doesn't have to be. I say go with the flares, can't go wrong with a good set of flares.
  14. One of my professors at UCF went through that Building Virtual Worlds class with Randy Pausch. Very cool guy, I could only hope I would be so strong in the face of that kind of hardship.
  15. I've never owned a Z31, but I've been under the hood of a ton of them in the junkyard. The tightness of the engine bay would make me think twice about owning one that I would need to maintain. That being said, I love the Z31 body style, and prefer its looks to an S130 any day.
  16. Soon as you clowns are ready for some of this: and maybe a little of that (picture predates BOV install): have OTM give me a call.
  17. Did somebody say Rat Rod with Cherry Blossom accents? Been there, done that baby! 1978 280Z ($200) converted from auto to manual ($100 in parts, i did the work). Garrett T-04 ($50)with a Rajay on-center exhaust housing(free) (more for the 4-bolt flange it had, but also it was much smaller A/R than the one that came on the turbo), Sunny GTi-R top mount intercooler($40) that uses NA saturn SKY exhaust pipe(free, welded together by me) as IC piping. 280ZXT turbo manifold ($100), SS Autochrome t-3 to t-4 adapter, with welded on(by me) external wastegate flange ($60). SS Autochrome Tial-style 38mm wastegate($99) with a 6psi spring. DSM blowoff valve courtesy of OTM, in exchange for artwork (yet to be performed...i didn't forget about you brother!) Megasquirt fuel-only($99) (also camo, which added like 3hp), JSK barb-style fuel rail(honestly don't remember how much this cost...lets say it was $100 and came with the throttle body adapter) and KA throttle body($49). Saturn VUE redline fascia(free), modified to "fit". Impul Hoshino Racing RS-III($700) 17X7" front, 17X8" rear wheels both +38mm offset, with Falken Ziex 512 tires ($400). These required 1.5" hub adapters to clear ($250), and the wheels themselves required special lug nuts- a tuner style lug with a shank on the end. I've got about $100 in lug nuts alone... Fender mirrors are from a first gen Mazda RX-7 (free), and side skirts came off an early Acura RSX type S (also free).
  18. Ya lost me brother...there hasn't been a civic in this entire ancient thread?
  19. Well, my diff is shot, and I was just about to get one from Big-Phil...but then he blew his up and I told him to keep it as long he needed to. OTM actually parted his car out, i think he even went so far as to cut it up...so i guess I win?
  20. I read that article, and they claim that they followed up with 3M to see if the adhesive really would transmit heat. Supposedly that tape is made specifically to be thermally conductive, so at least the tried to make it legitimate...I'd looks like something I'd be tempted to use on IC piping, but I worry about it getting enough cool air across it under the hood to matter.
  21. I'm very impressed with the texture he/she got on those tires. Very cool. This is a super professional model (though it looks to have WAY more polygons than you probably need-but if you aren't modeling for games that doesn't really matter). Aesthetically, i don't like the Mustang II scoops on the side, the Z never had anything like that, and they don't go with the shape for me. I actually like the louvers a lot, I think it's a very fresh take on a retro styling cue. Every time I look at these, it makes me want to try and get a nice S30 rendering in my portfolio...if only i had the time!
  22. Take your time brother, I'm in no hurry! It won't become an issue for me for at least like two months, when I'll need to start thinking about how I'm going to get the car to another state (i'm leaning towards "under its own power" for now, but I guess we'll have to see...).
  23. Phil, you totally need it more than i do, and my car isn't going anywhere any time soon. I won't be sad if you keep it
  24. Started building my signature robot in Autodesk Maya2008 awhile ago. Don't know when i'll have time to finish it though:
