  1. Here is a pic of Bad Dog frame rails and the Bad Dog sup frame connectors installed on my project. As you can see the sub frame connectors attach where the frame rails end and then attach to the rear sub assembly of the car behind the floor tub. Do they strengthen the car? I would imagine so. I will also be running a SCCA bolt in roll bar and strut tower braces. Ultimatly a cage would be the best for rigidity but this is not a race car.
  2. Sad day, Pontiac is going to be killed off. http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/24/autos/pontiac_obit/index.htm?postversion=2009042414
  3. My morning commute consists of about 5 miles of interstate driving with my 3 year old son in the back seat (G35 sedan 6 speed MT). The on ramp is a huge sweeper that allows great visibility to the traffic you’re going to have to merge with. That being said if there is a slower car that will be merging with me on the on ramp I normally let them get well in front of me so they can figure out how to drive on their own. This morning I was following a woman in a car prior to getting on the interstate. She was leaving the traffic lights in a lazy fashion, seemed to be in no big hurry. That’s fine with me because I was in no hurry either. Well as luck would have it she is going my way, I allow her to enter the interstate well ahead of me then I accelerate and merge into my lane. Seeing the left lane open I indicate and continue my acceleration to 70-75 mph (70 zone) as I’m approaching her/passing her on the left, with out warning she begins to cut me off, I’m at 75 now and she’s going all of 55, I lay on the horn and high beams and pass her. She gets all pi$$y and makes a run for me getting inches off my rear bumper, I don’t brake check her or anybody else for that matter, first and foremost I have my son in the car, second my car can stop a helluva lot quicker than what she’s driving and I just don’t care to go sliding off the road at 75mph. She did this twice in five miles, it didn’t really upset me but wtf, why tail gate like that? What if I did brake check her hard, that would be totally nuts. So do you brake check tailgaters?
  4. Check your rheostat (sp) under the dash if your car is equiped with one. It should be located under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. It allows you to dim your dash lights, it should have a knob on it that you twist to make the lights brighter and dimmer. Also rebuild the combo switch, take it apart very carefully sand down the contacts etc and put it back together.
  5. With KERS of course Second choice (do I get one? ha-ha) 2009 Ferrari F-70
  6. You could try to souce a 3.36 ring and pinion but they are hard to find. I'd ditch the tranny and switch to a manual gear box IMO.
  7. If you want to take a road trip down to Rogers, AR some time you can take a look at my original Scarab car. PM me sometime. Check out the link at the bottom of the page for the cardomain web page. David
  8. Yeah and I was "planning" on taking mine to ZCON in Sep. Possible yes, however funding it is sketchy at this moment. I still need some major parts. Transmission (G-force or A spec geared tranny), custom wiring, water/meth injection, body work on and on.
  9. Dude, what's the hurry? I've been building mine for NINE years now!!! Click the build thread at the bottom of this post to see where I am currently. I'm finally on track....I think Build it the way you envision it. If $$$ are not present at the time. Wait for a while until they become avaliable. Just my .02
  10. Z's would make good wheelie cars....the floor pans are usually so rusted out you could use them as windows:lmao:
  11. ^^^And both of you quit thread jacking please. There are valid questions on this thread that folks want answered, no need to muddy the waters, thanks. David The car was sprayed with POR15 White Coate (on the bottom) last week and the results were LESS than spectacular The first coat went laid down fine then the second coat went to hell in a hand basket. Runs, drips, orange peel, fish eyes. It's a loss. The shop is going to rough it all up and spray it with paint, which I guess we should have done in the first place but I wanted the protection of claims of the POR15. RSICARD Bad Dog rail go OVER you OEM rails and tie into the front frame rails, google BAD DOG FRAME RAILS and the company website with all the info will come up. Also so I'm going to have to throw you the "search" card on this site, you'll find exactally what you're looking for with pics. Wayne In KY I'll have to check with the shop on the primer. gdv 350SS Good question, I'll get closer pics of it. AK-Z Again the shop removed this area, looks like they removed the spot welds the took out the X member. I'll ask the guy that did the work next week.
  12. I'll have to follow up later on the questions. I'm having a shop do the structural work here. Don't think for a minute that I know how to run a welder like these guys do. This is turning into a "checkbook" build right now as I don't have the time to work on the car with family and work taking up all my time.
  13. Hey Bryan I'll loan it to you so you can put it back together for me All my Z are white, when I first got this one it was red and green and some of the other Z guys up here were like, "WHAT it's not white!!!" Those where the two guys I sold white Z's to. A 260 which you saw and then a nice clean 71 240 which I wish I could have kept but alas, no time for it.
  14. Joe, Thanks for coming through for me in the "nick of time" with this car for a very fair price. My wife asked me when I got home. "Why did you go all the way to Dallas just to get the same thing you've already got?" (shell car..the shell game, BTW I think it's a 72 according to my VIN calculations?) Again folks this is why you want as close to a rust free car as possible. I chose to replace the pans because I had them for my other car which had a severly bent front passenger frame rail so I skipped that car and picked up this one. I was going to media blast the car all along so we went ahead and replaced the floors with new metal, might as well start fresh when going down this far with a build. Can't wait till we get started on body work. Thanks for the positive comments guys! David
  15. Just had to share. Zeddfindings floorpans, Bad Dog frame rails, BD subframe connectors. Car has been media blasted. White primer for now, will be coated with POR15 White Coate on the bottom.
  16. In primer, metal work done. POR 15 White Coat will be sprayed on the bottom then we'll be off to body work!!!! Finally!!!!
  17. Ouch, hope nobody was injured. Back tire lookin' kind of bald. Guess we need to pass the plate for a new light pole?
  18. It would be a good idea to up grade to 280Z stub axels at this time too.
  19. Some suspension shots mocking it up for color contrast.
  20. Saw that a while back F/S around the Omaha area. Different. Here's one.
