  1. Anybody wanting to build a kit Cobra MUST see Factory Five Racing. IMHO they have the best set up going. I love Cobras but I've absolutly gone head over heels for their new spyder GT. I want to finish up the Z, drive it for a year or so and oder this kit... Oh the love... Yes Z's are nice but this car is the Schit to me. http://factoryfive.com/table/ffrkits/spyder/spyder.html ds
  2. jaime240Z So in conclusion the one Motosports sells is the exact same as one Summit sells for around $20 less? Do you have a part number? ds
  3. It's in their catalog (the yellow one), I've sent them an e-mail so we'll see. I REALLY questioning this part. Looks like rain tonight, time to work on the Z haha ds
  4. Auto Meter fuel guage from Motosport, I ordered one yesterday, here's what they said... Yes the calibration of the Auto Meter ultra lite guage is correct for a 240Z ie Full reads "F" and Empty reads "E". Has anybody out there used one? Comments?
  5. Bit of a stretch I'm in the NW corner of Arkansas. I've got a JTR and a guy down the street has an original Scarab. I'm not running right now though interior is well gutted. ds
  6. Cool idea!!! Although my hybrid is interior gutted at the time I might be able to help (form a distance). My neighbor has an original Scarab and I have a JTR setback. So if you need any "original" Scarab measurements I'd be happy to obtain them for you. Him 72 Z 350 iron head 300+ hp 4 speed Me 73 Z 350 full (solid) roller, TFS aluminum heads 400 hp(?) (I hope I'm close!!!) WC T-5 When I get my interior replaced (dash etc.) I'll see if he wants to do a little side by side comparison and I'll send you some notes/findings that you may or may not want to incorporate. David
  7. Yeah and I OWN my Z outright, I also own, well nothing come to think of it haha. DCarrow submit that list here of companies to boycott, I'd love to see it. ds (can I still eat at Shogun Japaneese steak house )
  8. Perry great idea. The problem with it is getting 10 persons to commit to it. I'm wondering how many of the members of this board are "dreamers" and how many are going to actually do the swap on a Z. Then how many are going to use a T-5 vs auto vs T-56. Just a reality check although I am running a T-5. Wish you would have come to bat earlier ds
  9. JustAFantaZ, Aldo Nova cool, 8) I remember that... Now where did I put that? Oh yeah
  10. I had a hydrolic (sp) hose shop do mine heres what they did. They used my parts from the Tilton unit off the slave then custom made the hose connector fitting at the bottom, the piece that is held in with the drift pin. So far so good. If you want pics PM me and I'll try to snap some. ds
  11. That's not a bad price!!! Seeing how I've got 3K+ in just my engine!!! ds
  12. Sooo tell us the cost, not that I'm not that interested but others have inquired about shop rates in the past. Post some pics too I'd love to see what a "shop" can do. I'll bet your're all grins too after waiting so long to get your car back, congrats ds
  13. Why not go supercharged? For the LT-1's and LS-1's they are avaliable, povide gobs of power, bolt on instalation and easier to tune. That's the route I'm going next time. ds
  14. I've got basically the same set up except 50 miles on it IN a 73 240 with Ok paint and body. PLUS solid roller cam Full poly bushings You didn't mention tranny (I'v got T-5)w/Hurst billet shifter R-200 rear swaped in w/ with brute force U-joints I've got about 10K in the car and swap +/- So what would I pay? I'd offer $2000+ for everything, the heads alone were over $1K. Make an offer on it see what happens. ds
  15. Pics up see page 2 of the link below. ds
  16. Well since I couldn't get another car I "upgraded" my daily driver 2002 4X4 Dodge Ram Quad cab sport. I added a 4" Rancho lift with an in cab air adjust shock system, 35-12.50-17" tire and wheel package. I couldn't help but be all grins as I drove it around tonight, I got my big truck again. The wife said don't EVEN try to BS her on how much $$$ I spent on it either, she is quite understanding mind you. First payoff was at the local grocery store, I just parked it in font of the store and as I was walking in I overheard somebody say "look at that RED truck it's sweeeet!!!" I've GOT to get the Z going again SOON!!! I'll post some pics of the truck next week, I'm on vacation for the next 5 days LATER--B SAFE!!! DS
  17. I'm running 225/40/17 BFG D/R's on Centerline Aztec's They grip decently but I can still spin them good with a rev and a dump of the clutch. But we wouldn't do that now would we That's how you destroy parts hehe. See my gallery for pics, every thing fits inside the wheel wheel. ds
  18. Sounds like he's got it well thought out guys!!! Bailout keep us posted, espically on that frame rail repair, a lot of guys have spent countless hours on rust repair. With the amount of power you'll be putting down I doubt a stock 200R dif is going to hold up long. I baby mine with a full roller 350 putting out around 400 +/- HP at the crank, so I don't break parts. ds
  19. That sux!!! OK here's what you need to do... (besides calling the seller out, because I'm almost positive you bought it AS IS) I feel for ya bro... After ya yank it spank it Get the block checked or trash it, go crate motor if you have to. If the block checks out OK,which I doubt at this point it comes down to $$$. Since the car was set up for the V-8 conversion it shouldn't be a problem to drop another one in but do it correctly. Most of the hard work has been done for you already. Follow the JTR manual and get it set up right. Make sure you check everything out twice. Hybridz are awsome cars but can be dangerous if everything isn't installed correctly. You can look at this 2 ways: 1. You got the shaft 2. You can build the car with the knowing of what it's made of. I took the 2nd approach, I brought my 73 home and cleaned her up was getting ready to drive to work the following morning and viloa brake fluid under the passenger rear wheel. That little puddle led to $500 of parts to repair it because the M/C went out when I was trying to bleed the system. Take your time do it right, you'll thank yourself in the end. I know I did. David
  20. Cool about 2.5 years ago I found #665 here in Rogers, AR with Kansas plates, tried to get more info on the car and she disappeard into the void, the shop that it was sitting in front of didn't have much to say about her either. Too bad. ds
  21. Nion, CONGRATS!!! Fastfob996 Ths being your first post please view the link listed below. BTW what are you going to build? http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24173
  22. Well I dropped the bomb Friday after work... It didn't help at all that she had out patient surgury(sp) that day. So she didn't think it was too good of an idea so I came up with plant two. Sink some $$ in to my 02 4X4 quadcab Dodge. I'm going with a nice stereo package (2-10's) and all new speakers and amp then get a 4" lift with some nice tires and wheels. I guess I'm just missing my Z because the move over to her house (I can barely see the Z because all my junk from my house is here now) So I gotta get on the cleaning of the garage and get it straightened out again so I can get the Z interior back in. I'm sure losing the T/A is a good thing, I'll check her again later on that issue. ds
  23. Hmmm portable lift, I could rent it out by the hour ds BTW she does have an older sister but married. Her husband has a shop in the bottom of the house chock full of wood working tools!!! NICE!!!
  24. Hell I’ll just drop it on her after I close on my house over the weekend. If it creates too much static I’ll drop the idea for now and take a wait and see stance. Part of this stems from having the Z’s interior gutted and not driving it for a few months. The engine is in runs great, but just kind of ran out of time here in the midst of summer. With the pending sale of my house, moving all the junk out of it, add to that two weeks National Guard training that I just got back from yesterday, PLUS it is summer so I’ve got to justify owning a boat by using it. Jim all the running cars are outside already the only car in the garage is the Z, like I said we’re consolidating 2 households so guess where all the “good extra stuff†goes yep, in the garage…anybody out there need a toaster oven? We've got darn near two of everything. Get a run down house and the “toys†may disappear overnight . Phil I like the carlift idea, but we’re planning on moving in a year or two so perhaps the next house… Tim240Z it’s not like “thatâ€. We’re not having a rocky start, come on she helped me pull the dash out of the Z for the sound deadener install and Autometer gauges, she's a real trooper. She had cable TV installed in the garage so I could watch TV while I work on the car or she could watch it while watching me work on the car or well what ever. She likes power tools and she trys to stay away from my tool box. I told her she could use what ever she wanted to just return it to its proper place, which she is kind of slacking on but no big deal because if it comes up missing I'll rant rave and go buy a new one just as long as it doesn't cost too much. ds
