s/b with the stock 5 peed transmission ?
dsommer replied to Gdemirchy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Be sure to run a decent clutch!!! I'm already smoking my cheap-o clutch with a full roller 350 running a WC T-5, and BFG Drag Radials out back. I need to step up to a Centerforce dual friction in the near future. (read this winter ) ds -
Why is the guy to (our) left smiling and his girl looking disgusted??? What's up with those socks too? Hey freak boy get a life!!! ds

When it rains it pours... And I work for Morton Salt Mike my heartfelt prayers go out to you and yours. After losing my wife last year and going through a hellish time I truly belive there is a God. There is a reason for everything on this earth, we are here for only a moment in time, a blink of Gods eye. I pray she finds peace, if she believes, I KNOW she will find it. I've seen a glimse of heven through what the Lord has shown me, it is a beautyful, peaceful place. I know where my former wife is, she is watching over me constantly and I am greatful for every moment we shared on this earth. I have felt the hurt of losing a loved one, but just keep this in the back of your mind... The destination is more wonderful, peaceful and fulfilling than this earth will EVER be. There is no hurt, nor are there tears in HIS kingdom. I pray, I too will have the prividlige of entering HIS kingdom one day, when I am called home. Amen. David

The pressure plat has been resurfaced already and the clutch is new. I don't want to yank the thing just yet, if I do I'll be going T-56 or 700R4 ds

OK Fire her up (240Z with full roller 350, T-5 tranny), roll on the gas some and then nail it in first. Off to the right side of the car and in to the passenger compartment dust/smoke stinky too. No hood on car and no cover for the shifter hole so I can see this happening. Car seems to be lacking power after this. Is the clutch slipping that bad? It's a brand new clutch (no name brand haha cheap me ) Tires have got to be hooking 225/45/17 Drag TA's (brand new) the car is not trying to fishtail on me. Comments? Sugguestions? ds

Good looking job by them!!! So throw out the $$$ amount. I just had mine done and feel that a lot of folks out there don't realize how much a full on custom job costs. I'll post pics of mine soon, my cost $428.00 which seemed pretty steep but this guy has to make a living too. ds

A ride in one of the BEST!!! ds

I guess when building a Z you have to take a total package approach. Sure we all fall into the "well since I'm here, I might as well..." syndrome. This is not a bad thing!!! The first item I replaced on my car were the brakes. Period, then moved on to the suspension (rear) suspension front engine in, exhaust, new wheels and now trying to begin tuning and wire routing for a clean engine bay. Cars with bad brakes, loose/worn suspension, leaky fuel lines (yeah I had that problem too.) are just an accident waiting to happen when you drop in more HP. One of the reasons my car is still so scarry is that I need an alingment WAY bad. It's not so bad just for darting around the streets of the neighborhood but I'm not going to take it above 45MPH till it's lined up right either, ah this week I'll try to take care of it. We'll see... ds

DavyZ you got me ROTFL'N SOOO BAD with your strory about the test ride and test drive in the mule car!!! Majik16, I've just gotten my car on the road (lot's of bugs to work out) and the thing is a monster. Personally the car scares the crap out of me, I built an engine the likes to rev and things start happening "real quick" when you mash the go peddal. The Z cars can be set up to perform great if you are willing to do your homework and ask the advice of others here at HybridZ. If you can, by all means try to drive one before you build one. Had I driven one first, I would have built a more "tame" engine and built a hotter engine while tuning the mechanicals and suspension. They are fast and can be built to do what ever you want them to do from drag to autox. Just my .02 ds

Will 225/45/17 tires rub on stock fendered 240z?
dsommer replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The tires right now are Michelins they will be switched to the front when the Drag radials show up later this week!!! Haha traction (or at least more traction) will be mine. ds -
Grade 5 bolts avaliable at your local hardware store. Take a measurment of the T spacer, setback plate and depth of the bolt hole. Add those measurements together viola. Remember to leave some room inside the block where the bolt screws in you only want it to go about 3/4's of the way into the block NOT 3/4" but 3/4 way into the hole. ds

Redline or the more readily avaliable Mobile 1. BTW the T-5 holds about 4 quarts +/- of the good stuff. Found that out the hard way I went 3 quarts Redline and the remainer (not by choice!!!) Mobile 1. Works all the same f'it I wanted to drive it getting tired of working on it... ds

dsommer replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
They WILL fit!!!!! Just yesterday I had my 225/45/17's mounted on my Aztecs and bolted them to the rear. My car also has MS lowering springs. The wheel tire combo fills up the wheel area pretty good and looks great. Will post pics soon check my profile pics. ds -
Terry, This will steam you... :flamedevil: Last month my girlfriend an I flew out of Little Rock to New Orleans to go on a cruise. We boarded in LR, (gate security) connected in Houston, got on a cruise ship,(more security), got back on the plane flying out of NO,(security) Houston, land in LR. As the plane was approching the gate I ask her for the car keys so I can get the car. She starts digging through her purse and whips out a SWISS ARMY KNIFE!!! One of those big ones. All those check point and they NEVER caught it!!! : Shezzzz!!! We also have something in common I too was a controller however in the Army. Chiefs haha go back to your hole buddy and let the real controllers do their job!!! ds

Fresh rebuild, I feel the oil pressure should be at least 30 psi at idle 20 at a min? Read grumpys old post lots-o-knowledge... Dropped the pan this evening, pulled the pump and took it apart, nothing seems out of the ordinary. I'm installing the new parts when they get here, if the OP is not higher then engine out, tear down for full inspection. I didn't build a $$$ engine just to gernade it due to an oversight. ds I'll keep ya'll posted

Well Sh*t... 5lbs at idle revs make it go no higher than 25. Confirmed with mechanical and electrical guages. Running Straight 30W. Ordered new oil pump and oil pan from Midwest motorsprots (Claimer pan) Good note got new exhaust in and it's badd ass IMHO. Pic of it later. ds

Anybody running the spin tech w/350 SBC, single 3" inlet/outlet? Which one fits the stock muffler location for a 240Z???? OR Which Dyno Max or Borla "round" muffler are you running? Guess it time for exhaust!!! ds

I'm going to chime in for just a sec I WANT ONE FOR MY BOAT!!! My boat weighs in around 4500lbs, 300HP big block through hull exhaust and a bravo 3 outdrive. It's torquey, responsive and runs (by the speedo NOT GPS) 62MPH (boat guys save it remember water "feels" faster haha ) Go for it but do the EFI route, the increases are MUCH greater in EFI applications than carbed apps. That is the reason I won't procharge my boat because I'm carbed see this link: http://procharger.com/marine.shtml Remember boats run at much higher RPM's for a duration of time than cars do, well er uh or we would all be in jail I spin the 454 in the boat at 4000 to 4800 RPMS for 10 to 20 minutes depending on water conditions. I luv boats and prochargers because there ain't no speed limit on my lake

2+2 is you BigWhyteDude Yeah clearance may be an issue... BTW There's been this guy picking on me could you swing by and... Just kidding. Have you driven a 280 2+2? I know somebody that may be willing to sell theirs in North West Arkansas. I could ask him. It's been sitting for a while and the guy is pulling his hair out as to why it won't run, he thinks it the cold start injector. He asked me the other day if I still had the twin SU carbs off my 240, Hell I offered hime the entire engine for $400 he passed, another local came and got it with a clean radiator electric fan, Crane ignition and a 280 dash and a few other goodies for $400. So ya want me to ask him how much? ds
