  1. ok so i had a question.... i know for serious light outout these probly arent the best lights to get BUT at advanced auto they sell a set of clear 7"round lamps similar to these but without the projector and my question was does a clear lens produce that much better light output then the conventional lense and if so... are there any of you guys that have these installed on your car with pics? i'm just curious to see what they look like.. i have the silvania silverstar lights on my car now and they pretty much suck a@# especially compared to my blazer anyways heres a pic of the lights
  2. see my noise isn't a squeeking noise its more of a loud poping noise i can tell that the spring is moving in the spring seat.. it seems like it keeps moving in and out of its groove
  3. b4 you guys get on me about it... yes my doors are a little darker then the rest of my car.. the guy that painted it did the worst possible job and i'm still heated about it.. unfortunatley i was in iraq when he finished it and when i got back it was too late to say anything..
  4. here is an after pic here is what the back looks like this is what it looked like picture of it from side busted old strut the back busted strut... they were all busted i guess being on the car for a million billion years doesn't help either.. the funny thing is it used to ride so smooth, i had no idea
  5. i saw that bearing.... it looked like a wheel bearing and i just thought that i might be something that someone riged up on the inside of my strut housing for some reason (let me tell you there was alot of stuff riged in there.. so do you really think that the bearing would have anything to do with it making noise when i turn the wheel all the way to one side? only one side had the bearing on it... and the side that didn't have it made no noise
  6. you know what yeah!!! i'll post them when i get off of work later on tonight
  7. see its not when i turn while driving its only if i'm backing out of my driveway and i happen to to turn my wheel all the way in either direction... i've heard this is pretty common with lowering springs but i wasn't sure if anyone hhas come up with a remedy for it... i called tokico today and talked to a service rep... he said that the stock shocks mounts should have a rubber spring cap but mine are metal.. besides the noise everyonce in a while the suspension rides Awsome!! i leave them in the highest setting all day and it doesn't seem to bother me at all its just that i was wondering about the occasional noise it makes
  8. i bought the matched set about two weeks ago and i'm very pleased with the results but my question is..... do any of you guys with lowering spings have problems with the springs making noise when you turn your steering wheels all the way to one side? i'm wondering if there is a rubber seat that needs to be installed inbetween the spring cap and the strut seat?
  9. man i love your car... its setup exactly how i would do mine (if it wasn't away getting painted for the past two years!!) ad then when i got it back nothing matched and it was all done half a@#sed.... so i guess i spent half of my desert money on a paint job that sucks.. it was 3grand also.. anyways ilike your headlights.. i wonder what they would looklike with some profectors int them and bixenon bulbs?
  10. yeah i've just wanted the illuminas.. it seems like thats the setup that alot of guys end up putting on their cars but with the eibach springs instead of the tokico springs... i guess i'll buy the ones off of ebay.. they are a little but cheaper then the ones from shox.com so i guess if they are still there i'll just go ahead and pick them up from there thanks for the reply's guys... oh yeah i was just wondering have you guys ever thought about a suspension faq with a list of reputable websites to buy from?
  11. ok so i'm starting to frustrate myself trying to figure out wher i want to buy my shocks/springs from.. i want tokico illuminas and i've heard many people say that the tokico springs are TERRIBLE but at the moment i don't really car about having a cadillac ride.. i kinda like to feel the road.. i mean i think my moms '01 corvette rides perfect and my friends evolution mr rides like a sports sedan should to me.. ok so let me get to the point.. if i was to buy my suspension from msa it would be somewhere around 600$ with the eibach springs... but if i can get the whole tokico set for less i think thats the way i'll go so the illumina set is 572$ from these guys http://www.performancecenter.com/product/Lowering+Kits+%26+Handling/Lowering+Kits/0/0/0/NISSAN/1976/280Z?brandname=Tokico 538$ http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/tokico/products?session_id=a207394446ce7dc49dc06c69a3b02d0b 513$ http://www.shox.com/appguide/shoxshop/productsdisplay.php 505$ on ebay so my question is... are any of these places reputable? (i know about ebay) but i don't currently have a credit card and i was going to use my debit (visa) to purchase the set and i just wasn't sure where to pick them up from
  12. thats cool... right now i'm in the process of saving all of my desert money to complete this swap... i want to have everything done at the same or around the same time.. i would just hate for my car to be off of the road for months and months.. i just went a whole year without driving it.. while it was getting the sh#$yest paint job in the world so now i'm at the point where i'm going to just do everything my self and start from scratch thanks for the input guys i'm trying to do all of my reasearch b4 i do the complete swap
  13. ok so i was kinda curious when i heard that you were going to swap in a skyline irs into an older z and i was wondering why i've never seen this done B4 BUT today while i was at work, instead of working on planes like i was supposed to.. i was surfing the net and came accross this so check it out..
  14. ok thats cool... i was just wondering b/c i've been reading up on some of these rb swaps but it doesn't seem like anyone has brought up anything about an a/c swap... what do you mean about finding a place to mount the compressor? would i have to move it from the stock location to make it work on the car? and if i was to get custom made lines for the a/c system could i get them to work with the stock 280z setup?
  15. i'm not sure if this topic has already been brought up or not yet but since i'm currently having problems with my heater and ac(which works fine if it wasn't for my leaking heater core) when i do my engine swap i want to have a fully functioning airconditioner and heater do any of you guys have heat and a/c.. this wouldn't be a problem if it didn't rain all the time down here in florida
  16. thanks man for the responses guys i'm sorry i didn't reply to you guys earlier but i've been really busy lately and had a recent death in the family not to mention i was driving my 280 the day b4 yesterday and my wheel bearing basically fell smooth the hell off when i was on the highway so things got pretty serious pretty quick!! anyways i'll def check out the links you guys posted and i'll definately check them out
  17. i don't know if this should be a sticky or if someone knows where to get this information from but i just did a search on this site for info on how to adjust the valves on a n/a 280z but i couldn't find a definate answer.... so my question is do any of you guys know how to do the adjustment and i would appreciate your help.... i'm pretty sure you guys know more about z's then i do..
  18. wow you basically just answered the question that i really should have asked "what parts are interchangeable" thats cool as hell knowing i can use parts from those cars.. i mean it makes sense!! i don't think nissan could afford to have totally original parts on all their motors
  19. thanks for the help guys i'm sorry i didn't reply earlier to your responses but i have this evil ass internet that sparatically works when it wants to!!! it pisses me off.. anyways the whole reason i decided to do the swap into my car was because i was reading about this guys who was thinking about doing the same think "I READ IT IN THE SPORT COMPACT CAR DECEMBER ISSUE" it has an nsx and some other cars on the front.. the editor at sport compact basically dogs the old z's then compliments them by saying they are sexy and some other stuff. BUT he was like there is no reason not to put in one of the rb motors because of the ease of the install and the sound would match the car.. you guys have to check out rob fullers rb powered z thats reason enough to do the swap.. i'm in the military so i basically don't have any extra money at all except for the money i'm saving and i don't beleive in spending money twice... i want to do it right the first time around..and that i only made like 13,000 dollars last year so yeah thats the real reason:icon55:.. anyways i just want to do the right swap the first time... and the l28 is getting harder and harder to get parts for so i figured it might not be such a bad idea for the rb25 since i guess so many people have been posting on this sight about the same topic i will def look around but i would appreciate more feedback and advice from you guys that have done it b4
  20. ok so i've been debating on whether or not i'm going to do an sr20 swap rb25/26 swap or if i'll just go ahead and do an l28 swap.... my biggest problem right now is that i don't know whether or not any of these swaps would be worth it in the long run... so what i'm trying to say is that i don't know how easy it would be to get parts (normal stuff) like belts alternators water pumps spark plug wires exectra.. because i'm looking for something that i COULD drive everyday not that i would but i would like to know that i COULD you know with a/c a stereo and so forth but yeah i just want to get some advice from the guys that have done it b4 and know what the deal is
  21. yeah man i think i like that msa kit also but there is just something about it....
  22. yeah 280zone.. you coulda just put a picure of what you want to show off up!!i just figured this forum needed a thread meant for just tight rides it gets really boring going through albums
