nah i saw it but he said it was for local pickup only and i live in florida.... i looks nice but there where no pictures of the top of the dash so i wasn't too sure
-
yeah i'm thinking that i might just go ahead and put some silicone in there and let it sit.. hopefully when it dries, it wont rattle.. i purchased an autozone knob and yes i did try the ol electric tape/ doubling up the plastic inserts thing or whatever but it didn't work very well and feels very loose all of the time... it very annoying so i would rather have the screw on type that won't come off in spirited driving but i guess i'll either have to but another knob from msa or source a similar one that would fit from somewhere else
-
well the knob man the wooden knob... it sucks and i hate it... all i want is a knob that just works.. all of the "universal" knobs spin around b/c you can't tighten them enough around the actuall shifter.. and as i said earlier the wooden one is not lined up properly and it vibrates and rattles like crazy!!! its noisy ass hell and i don't have carpet or sound deadening, with a loud exhaust..
-
so i buy this shifter a couple weeks ago and i finally put it on and WOW does it suck, i ordered it from msa.. not that its their fault.. but damn!! it rattles just as bad as its 30 year old original what the @#$!!! anyways what is so hard about selling QUALITY parts for the POPULAR datsun z? i mean for the price that we pay for parts for our cars you would think that the quality would actually be SOMEWHAT decent.. i've had this problem with my urethane bushings, my suspension, my weatherstriping kit, and all types of other things.. the old nissan stuff wasn't that bad and if i had the choice i would buy it new.. everything is just either overpriced or just crappy... sorry for the rant but if your looking for an old z shifter DON"T buy the wooden one from msa.. the z doesn't line up it rattles like crazy and yeah it is a better design then the pistol grip or whatever but i'm sure there are better shifters out there just not this one man its frustrating that this shifter sucks:evil: this makes me so angry!! i hate spending money on the same thing twice i'm talking about the actuall knob

so i'm very interested BUT where will i be able to reroute my heater hose to?

okay so here we go..... all you need to get +20mm offset wheels to fit are 1/4 inch spacers and longer wheel studs so that you can tighten your lug nuts down all the way... BUT if your going to buy spacers anyways (i already had some on my car previously) then go with a bigger spacer so you can but more rubber on your rim the back -

okay so i finally test fitted one of the rims on my car.. yes i needed a spacer at the front so i ended up going with 1/4 spacer up there and none in the rear.. i have tokico illumina shocks/springs and energy suspension bushings.. the only issue that i'm having on the front is that it does rub on the bottom frame rail if i turn it all the way to lock left/or right.. i'm pretty sure if i had a bigger spacer up there i wouldn't have a problem the tires that i'm using are 215/45/17 kumo tires -

well my "RIM" and i say rim because thats all that came in the mail was one rim... they set it up pretty nice and it does look like good quality BUT don't go with a 20mm offset if your trying to get a set of rotas... they will prob fit on the back without rubbing but on the front, you will want to go with a little bit lower offset.. hopefully the rest of my wheels will come in on the 29th when they are scheduled to come in -
Frame rail decision.. Will I be ok?
DrEaM replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
personally being on the east coast and RIGHT next to the ocean (humid salty air) i would say if thats the only rust that that isn't that bad at all BUT $2000 dollars is kinda expensive for a car with rust spots that bad on it -

i'll keep you guys posted and i wouldn't have an issue with them about my wheels fitting if they didn't look in their "chart" and tell me that these wheels would def fit.. they made it seem as if they've sold these rims to other z car owners b4.. anyways i'll keep you guys informed on these wheels and i'll let you know if they fit or not -

man i am so F#@$ angry right now.. b/c now that the rims are supposedly in the mail AND these guys are so hard to work with i highly doubt they will be easy to deal with if the wheels don't fit.. one word of advice though, if you can deal with someone else with a better reputation then do it.. i've been messing around with these guys for almost 3 weeks now and i still don't have the wheels that i want -
Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels

DrEaM replied to DrEaM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
well yeah i got off of the phone with these guys today and 18racing told me that they could send me a set of 17x7.5in rims with a 20mm offset which i think should fit after talking to a couple of different people.. if i have any advice for anyone trying to deal with 18gracing...DON"T their customer service sucks and i was having the hardest time trying to get my money back.. HOPEFULLY i get the right rims and hopefully they fit.. they should be in, in 5 days so i'll keep you guys posted.. i really wanted a nice set of volks but they only came in 16's anyways i'll let ya'll know how things pan out -

DrEaM replied to DrEaM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
thanks for the feedback man!! i'm not planning on waiting on these guys any longer then i have to.. i mean i called them in advance to find out if they had the wheels and they told me yes.. when i go ahead and try to order them then they tell me that they are out of stock and that the rims should be in in a month.. yeah i'm going to contact paypal and see if i can get my money back -
i think a 16x8 will only fit with a +15 offset check out this website.. http://www.upgrademotoring.com/performance/240z.htm i think with a 7 inch wide wheel +22 offset will work

so its been over a week and i'm still waiting on getting my money so i'm pretty angry about this whole situation right now b/c i was planning on driving my car home 500mi to s.c. since my pops is back from overseas.. anyways i'll keep u guys posted -
okay so i know everyone here will tell you to do a search to look for answers to your question but i figure if i could take the time to at least reply to your post i might as well try and answer you questions.. whats the point of an open forum if all we do is search all the time since every question ever asked has been answered at some point in time on this board.. whether or not you'll find answers to your question is something different.. #1 i'll assume that your talking about "skinny bumpers" or bumpers so i'll just direct you to thezstore.com they have carbon fiber, fiberglass and replacement metal bumpers for your car #2 its just common sense that you could "in theory" fit any size wheel and tire under the fenders of a z car but i don't think thats what you meant.. i'm not sure about tires but as far as rims go i thing the biggest you could go without rubbing is 17x7.5 with a +4 offset, if you don't know your lug pattern is 4x114.3.. if i'm wrong i'm almost 100% sure someone will correct me #3 i'm not sure but the 350z motor takes a crap ton of work to install in your z and if your like me and want all the bells and whistles that came with your car like a/c its prol not worth it in the long run.. look for an l28et or swap in a supra or skyline motor.. you could also put in a ka24 turbo or sr20 #4 yes they do http://www.modern-motorsports.com/ca...products_id=59 also http://www.arizonazcar.com sells a pretty nice kit also #5 http://web.mac.com/markrolston/NewSite/Z-car.html yes that is mark's car and his car was featured in superstreet a couple of months ago.. its pure sex on wheels.. he has an rb26dett its pretty sick.. sorry for the negative feedback you got for posting earlier.. it is true you could have done a search and came up with the same answers but you did have a valid question and i know a little bit so i figured i would help you out.. i hate posting here sometimes b/c i know i'll get those words "did you do a search" pop up at least twice... and welcome to the club

heads up about buying rota's from pop site
DrEaM replied to DrEaM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
okay so i just got off of the phone with a customer service rep and i was told that they would put the money back into my account and to call them back at the end of the month to check and see if the 17x7.5 wheels would come in they do have 16x8's in stock and 17x8.5 if anyone is interested so anyways i'll keep you guys updated -
ok so i'm STARTING to build my turbo project or whatever and i was wondering about that intercooler.. i mean for 99$ how effective is it? anyways your setup is awsome and i'm thinking about doing the same with mine.. right now i'm jus trying to build a parts list so i'm curious about the intercooler
-
so i just went ahead and after a week of trying to get all of my paypal info set.. calling back and forth with my bank, sitting on hold with paypal for about 20 minutes.. whatever so anyways i was trying to buy some rota rb rims 17x7.5 +4 from 18racing.com but they apparently only have 17x8.5 with a +4 and it will be another month for the 7.5's to come in.. i'm not saying these guys aren't a good source for cheap rota rims, all i'm saying is that if your looking to purchase this size wheel from them wait a month and don't end up like me, as i've already paid for them and now i'm stuck waiting even longer for a set of wheels while my car sits and i can't drive it
-
yeah i live pretty far from you.. i stay in navarre florida all the way up in the panhandle
-
so ok what am i missing here?!! was there a live action video or something and if there was why can't i find it anywhere on any torrent sites? this is crazy.. anyways i've seen the first two eps translated and i kinda like it... hopefully this won't skyrocket parts and cars like initial d did for the ae86 and drifting.. it could be a good thing or a bad thing who knows anyways jus wondering
