  1. Took my car to the dyno today to have a go at tuning the fuel and ignition tables. I didn't get as much time as I would have liked but the engine went well and felt really strong. The engine is a standard f54/p90 NA with a 2mm headgasket. Standard NA manifold and turbo exhaust manifold. No porting just a Holset hy35 and megasquirt controlling fuel and spark. First run hit 256bhp@5,849rpm 279.2lb/ft@4,064rpm 8PSI boost then hit 304.4bhp@5752rpm 316.2lb/ft@4163rpm 12psi boost The mixture still needed tweaking after 4000rpm it was rich from that point on.
  2. Has anyone tried this kit before? http://store.autospeed.com/Items/14440?sck=16749305&caSKU=14440&caTitle=Independent%20Electronic%20Boost%20Controller program it with this http://store.autospeed.com/Items/14461?sck=5911623&caSKU=14461&caTitle=Hand%20Controller%20for%20Digital%20Adjusters looks like a great idea, I just ordered it and will be installing it as soon as it gets here. Will let you guys know how well it works.
  3. Car is running the best it ever has now....I have an profec A boost controller whic works really well but I want rpm based boost control so I'm going to use this : http://store.autospeed.com/Items/14440?sck=5911623&caSKU=14440&caTitle=Independent%20Electronic%20Boost%20Controller and this http://store.autospeed.com/Items/14461?sck=5911623&caSKU=14461&caTitle=Hand%20Controller%20for%20Digital%20Adjusters this way you can program boost levels at given duty cycles....looks like just what I've been looking for. I will do a write up once it's installed.
  4. I think it did cause a bit of noise on the ignition....I'm still getting the odd 11,000rpm spike but typically only 1 spike in 10mins of driving.... Yesterday I was watching the laptop screen as the car started to missfire you could clearly see the mixture was too rich....I turned off accell enrichment just to make sure it was the fuel table. Going to try power filters on the megasquirt supply to get rid of that random spike, although its not really much of a problem now. Cutting out coming out of every corner on a race track is much more annoying
  5. I had .5mm over size pistons, I did measure everything including the gasket and it worked out at 8.35:1. I'm running 14psi now with no knock and 18deg of timing...my FMIC works very well as my IAT doesn't move more than a few deg....on an 20deg day my temps are around 26deg. The car is very very responsive and has more power than you can put down on the road...looking at the logs I rarely use more than 50% throttle.
  6. Update on this.....I found the true cause of this today..it seems a few areas of my fuel map were causing a rich missfire .Only happend in 1st or 2nd at high revs....3rd and 4th never fell in the same cells. I lowered the numbers and now its fine.
  7. Yeah maybe a little more but its been driven hard! was on semi synth but now on full synth. Ihave the new compression tester now so will check it again later today.
  8. can you take a photo and show us where you are hitting it?
  9. I thought it was an anti surge ring to stop pre compressor turbulence.
  10. got a new tester, will try again and see what comes up.
  11. yes it does inline with the oil outlet. http://www.holset.co.uk/files/4_4_1-service%20repair%20manuals.php this may help
  12. I have a pretty much stock NA f54/p90 with flat tops and 2mm gasket. I run a Holset HE351CW and it's very quick @ 15psi boost. Responsive low down and bags of torque. Go for it!! you won't look back.
  13. I had the same problem, I ended up bonding them in. I put a few cable ties through the vents and used some metal bar to hold the vents tight while the stuff dried.
  14. I used all -6 on the pressure side of the pump and -8 on the low pressure side. That should be good for 500hp. FiveOmotorsport sell injectors for a great price...I use the 680cc rochester style low Imp 14mm and I hit around 52% duty at 15 psi, idles fine at 1.3ms.
  15. Hi Nick, mine does this too but not as bad, I think its about 0.4 out. Like Big P said it's probably a ground issue unless you don't have the wideband output set right or the setting in MS right. I power mine from the Cig socket so I'm guessing that's why it's out a little. My first sensor just died giving an 04 pump cell error...I always forget to switch the thing on when I'm driving, I should really finish tuning the top areas of my fuel tables and take out the wideband. Are you going to take it to RWYB anytime soon?
  16. I'll take it, do accept cash transfers from Zimbabwe?
  17. I like the idea though.....maybe a unit hidden in the car like a pc based system runing ignition, fuel, tv, radio, alarm etc
  18. Someone breaks into you car, steals your stereo...............
  19. I think I have found the problem. When I wired up the EDIS to the VR sensor I used a single core shielded cable using the core for 1 wire and the shield for the other..... It must have been a late one. Anyway I changed the wire to a 2 core shielded type, connected the shield at one end and the missfire has gone.
  20. That's what I thought, I will try another tester.
  21. I rebulit my engine an F54/p90 combo with a standard NA cam and 2mm head gasket. I tested my cylinders for the first time since doing around 2000 miles in it. All came up between 200 and 210 PSI.
  22. So is this what Mitsubishi were trying to do with the CBV on this turbo (TD04)
  23. Wow that does lok like fun, great cars...my brother has an s800 soft top and we had 2 N600's years ago, it had some odd 2 cylinder 4 stroke that fired both cylinders at the same time.
  24. Coming along.... I wonder why there are 2 typres of NA manifolds? and which one is better, Im think the type that you have is better as it tapers off near 5 and 6. Here's mine
