  2. DAW - I agree with you 101% and I am not wanting this to get into a tug of war but I would like to make mention of a few things. Emissions yes is VERY important and yes we need to all do our part to help Mother Nature, Green Peace etc etc.... However the fact of the matter is that pretty much everyone on here has some sort of Z or ZX with a modified engine, and once the stock engine is messed tampered with you can pretty much kiss an emissions "Pass" goodbye and welcome the "FAIL". Even a bone stock engine with just the timing or the AFM adjusted will bring about a FAIL, muchless bigger injectors, headers, big turbos, etc etc - as you know. Emissions are helpful for the poorly maintained cars and especially commercial trucks out there that have 200,000+ miles on them and are bellowing smoke like a Diesel on its last legs. But the fact of the matter, is that for the Performance crowd, the Hot Rod Guys...emissions are the biggest joke and the number one choker of performance. I think that pretty much on this forum people do their our part by maintaining their vehicle to the highest degree and keeping it the highest state of tune possible, which is why we spend a king's ransom and fortunes on widebands, standalone EFI, gauges and the best aftermarket parts that money can buy BUT it does not mean that these once stock cars are now emissions friendly (in the eyes of the EPA anyway). Can you tell me the last time you went to a car show, the race track, the drag strip and saw the EGR, the charcoal canister or the catalytic converter under the hood of these cars? On the pre '75 cars that are now emissions exempt in CA, what is the first thing owners rejoice about?: 1) Removing all their emissions crap. What is the second thing that tbe owners rejoice about?: 2) Putting the biggest, nastiest, fiercest non-emissions compliant fire breathing monster under the hood of their vehicle AS they are now exempt. I personally think that emissions is important BUT it is definately a massive money maker and a huge income generator for the government. Rewind to 1975 (oil embargo era), the U.S government sactioned emissions on all cars sold in the U.S, in effort to try and reduce the sales of Japanese vehicles that was killing the sales of Domestic made vehicles, the plan backfired as the Japanese beat the Americans at their own game, and started producing (once again) great reliable affordable cars that ALSO met the emissions compliance. I firmly believe that exemptions should be made for the aftermarket crowd like us that have professionally modified our vehicles and we have the receipts and the knowledge to back that up and prove it. However sadly it will never happen. I made a remark stating that I threw my charcoal canister away, however it was an exaggeration, it does sit on my garage shelf with about 14" of dust on it and I can reinstall it in about 15minutes if I have to..... I can go on and on, but I hope you see my point and where I am coming from. Regards - Yasin

  7. I feel for you Dan....I waited months for my new $650 J-Blood front spoiler for my Corolla GT-S (it came from Japan). Once I got it, I spent 10hours hand making mounts and trimming it to fit my car, then had a good friend paint it meticulously....man it looked MINT A week (one DAMN week) later car accidently comes rolls off the blocks of wood I had under the front tires and the spoiler gets hung up my trolley jack, damaging the bottom of it and messing up my sweet one week old paint....I am still miffed (understatement!!)....   10. My '83 ZXT was crammed full of emissions crap (typical of '80s cars)....well its in the garbage...and I can get my hands into my engine bay now. Car run perfectly and has never skipped a beat. Yasin
  11. This is straight from the TRD rep who visited a Toyota dealership and let out some interesting tidbits. I got this info through a friend off Supra Forums, so nothing embellished or changed, this is straight from the TRD rep: a) It will be called "Supra". 2 models will be offered, base and GT version. c) Base = $30K-ish and will smoke a 350Z. d) GT = $50K-ish and will use a V8. e) It will be sexy, and worthy of the name Supra. f) When he sends me pictures (yes, real photos of the CA mystery car) you know I will piss off Toyota by posting them here. Maybes (rumors from TRD): a) F1 paddle shifters. Boost? He mentioned the words "turbo" and "blower'. c) May see it as a 2006 model offering. Interesting TRD info: a) They have stroker 4.7L V8 Tundra race engines on the shelf that now are like 5.4L and make 600hp N/A. They are for sale. MKV Supra swap? The Scion tC Vortech blower kit has an optional water-air intercooler for 220+fwhp. $3K suggested price. c) The "Volta" may be a reality, but only in Europe as a $100K offering. As an aside this is good news as MkIV Supras will now be affordable, hahahah maybe I might be able to pick up a mod'd TT for $5K, as the Supra owners ditch their current MkIVs to buy the new gen?   16. Hi Gang – Well the time has come to get rid of the stock pop off valve and install a BOV, 8psi is not cutting it anymore…..LOL! I am thinking the HKS Super Sequential is the way to go. For those of you who are running BOVs, do you recommend the HKS model? Also is the 50mm size the way to go? Any other reommendations? I see there is quite a few HKS’ on eBay anywhere in price from $150-$200+, so that is most likely where I will buy mine. Also is the best location about 8â€-10†from the Throttle body? Let me know your thoughts.

  20. Thanks for the compliments bro! Yes its really tough having two turbo cars, but thankfully the AE86 is mostely complete...mind you I had a thought of taking the 7AFE block out of the '90-'94 Corolla 4 door, which is a 1.8L and mating that to my 20V quad throttle body turbo set-up. I pick-up 200cc and lots of torque....things that make you go hmmmm...naturally a block like would cost bucccco $$$ - so its a dream for the time being! LOL, kind of crazy seeing that I just had my entire 20V rebuilt....projects I tell ya! I would recommend staying away from the 3TGTE, as parts are near impossible to find now even in Japan. They do make great power, but they are the unusual 8plug 4cylinder head. I say stick with the 4AG and turbocharge it - you will be happy as the day is long...or go with a 20V 4AG (which is 165hp in its last configuration!). Regards - Yasin
  21. Thanks John! Much appreciated. Yes the headlight covers are carbon fiber, I was very fortunate to get some super rare parts for this car from a friend who was in Japan. Is the car quick? Well lets just say that it has no problem keeping up with traffic or maintaining its speed. Regards - Yasin
  22. Well I am a HUGE Toyota guy and since I could drive I have always owned a RWD 2door Toyota... My favorite is the '85-'87 Corolla GT-S (AE86) and yes the 4AG is a great engine back in the day and even now in the last 20V variation. I strongly recommend going the route of the 4AGZE which is the 165hp supercharged version (stock is 8psi) or the 20V like you mentioned. The 20V is rated at 160hp-165hp depending on if you get the earlier AFM silver top or the later black top which is MAP. The ones you have seen for $650 are the early Silver Top models, which are awesome engines and have slightly larger stronger rods than the later black tops. I have done the Supercharged conversion in previously owned AE86s and I now have a 20V Turbo, which I believe is one of the only ones in U.S. I am supposed to have a full magazine feature on this car hopefully soon. The power potential of the Turbo 20V is incredible, I pulled 217whp at 7psi from a 1.6L - not too shabby. I am looking for 300whp as a final goal. Turbocharging the 16V 4AG will also yield fantastic benefits, as these engines take very well to force induction...but this is Hybridz...you knew that. I recommend looking online at club4ag.com for good Toyota Tech talk on the 4AG or doing a search in google for "KP61" as that is the more common name for the Starlet.
