  1. Sweet set-up....imagine that set-up with a hard air box and a turbo supplying some swish! Congrats! Yasin
  2. Grayzee - Sorry if I came off sounding a little negative and pessimistic, sounds like you have the aptitude to successfully do this conversion. So good luck. Yes "WarrenP" was the member I was thinking and now that you mention it, I remember having to raise the truck 3" due to those conflicts. I hope he is able to sort out his EFI harness issues and get it up and running soon. That KA turbo manifold is beautiful!! Love it! Is it made in Canada, based on the URL? Regards - Yasin
  3. Wow...that is one ultra clean and beautiful ZX - congrats. The 92's are awesome. Consider yourself extremely lucky to have found a set of genuine Zero offset 16x7, that is as rare as they come, as mentioned before ytou can find 92s in 14x7 and even 15x7 all day long....16x7 forget it. The wheels look to be in excellent condition too, juding by the lips, the spoked and orginal center caps....again WOW! Your car has a great stance too, so I am thinking lowered springs? Keep up the great work. Yasin
  4. Wow....2grand abd climbing for that Maserati engine....very exotic stuff...too scarry and exotic to own (for me). I wonder how much power can be extracted from it and how reliable they actually are? I know there are some horror stories surrounding the Maserati Biturbos (where this engine originated from). Yasin
  5. Datsunlover - Care to share any pics of your V8 swap? The first gen esp. late '84 and '85 are my fav. of all generations RX7. Regards - Yasin
  6. there was a member on here, I have not seen him post in probably a year? He was doing the exact same conversion you are attempting. He used to update us regularly and then disappeared. He was having alot of issues, with the steering conflicts and downpipe routing and a whole host of things which I forget. I guess the swap is a little more complicated than you might think, which makes sense, when was the last time you heard of a VG30ET in any Pathfinder or that style pick-up. If it were simple there would be alot more people doing this conversion, unless the conversion has been successful and I have not heard of any??? I guess a check on the 'net would be the way to find out. I have seen more SR20DET conversions in the Pathfinder style pick-up more than anything. Not trying to disuade you but rather be the devil's advocate. If you have the confidence, the aptitude and fabrication skills. Go for it, I think it would be an awesome conversion. Good luck - Yasin
  7. Sweet....simple and matches the 240 perfectly. Yasin
  8. The money shot!! Crikey...you got my attention!! WOW! Not your average Friday night In'N'Out cruiser. Yasin
  9. Well I got my oil pump working....I am getting a solid 60psi of pressure. The trick was to pack the oil pump with grease, which is what I did, on the second set of cranks after packing the oil pump with grease..BAM!!!....10psi....20psi...30psi....onto 60psi. I just pulled the pick-up out and inserted my grease gun into the hole at the bottom of the oil pump (which fit perfectly), I did this until grease came out, then I cranked the engine over by hand using a breaker bar and 19mm socket and I could see the grease getting sucked in, meaning that it was between the oil pump gears. I then squeezed in a little more grease for good measure. After that I re-installed my pick-up, oil pan and plate and I was good to go. Wow...I worked another 12hours on the car today, that makes 36hours since Friday! I tell you this caris my equivalent to Eleanor in Gone in 60seconds!! Regards - Yasin
  10. cygnusx1 - Wow that looks fantastic. Nice and clean! Here are some not so clear pics of mine: Here is Afshin's set-up: When I went to MSA in 2002 I photographed every intercooled L28 and could post pics of each install but I do not want to put the pics up without permission? I know this is kind of a touch issue with certain owners. Regards - Yasin
  11. Thanks for the great help guys. I know now why, I am member on here, your quick help and assistance is a true life saver! I posted this same question on another forum and I am getting replies like...."did you add oil to the engine??"....UG! Anyway....I pulled the oil filter off the block and using my hand pump I forced oil back towards the pump, I also pulled off my oil cooler and all the lines, to reduce the complication of the situation and putting less stress on the pump as well. Well after I used my hand pump and squirted oil back towards the pump, I jumped in the car crossed all ten fingers and ten toes and started cranking...well....the first time in 3 days the oil gauge moved...very shakily but it got to just under 10psi and then fell down flat back on its face right on the peg and would not budge....DRAT!! So I am pulled the oil pan off again (a major ordeal!!) and the pickup and I am going to use my grease gun and pack some grease between the gears and maually crank the engine with a breaker bar and socket, that way the grease would be distributed between the gears and I think that should be the trick....wish me luck. Rick - I only thought about turning the engine backwards in collaboration with the hand pump after I had pulled the oil pan off, and I was kicking myself in the backside for not trying that at the same time - totally makes sense. The pick-up is perfectly sealed as well...I even put the lightest smear of silicone on it to ensure that as well. I drained out my oil and there are no bubbles so I know the pickup is not drawing any air. I have removed the spark plugs as well, trying to minimize wear. Hope to report with good news later tonight or tomorrow a.m! Wish me luck!! and thanks again - Yasin
  12. Just like me when I turned 30, my oil pump lost its PRIME. Seriously though, I removed my oil pan (this is on a 4AG engine on a 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S, with a oil pump driven off the crank) to weld in a new bung for my oil temp guage. I removed the oil pan with the engine still in the car and had to remove the oil pick-up to be able to slide the pan out from under the block. Well I got everything back together and made 101% sure that there was no excess silicone on the oil pan and also on the pick-up and everything was whistle clean as well and I kept cranking the engine (with the coil wire off) and the oil pump is not building any pressure whatsoever. I cranked for ages as well! I confirmed this by disconnecting one of the lines to my oil cooler and it was bone dry and as I cranked no oil came out of the open end. So I am stumped and figure that since I removed the pickup, and the car sat for over a week, that the oil pump lost its prime. I am unsure as how to "re-prime" the pump. The only thing I can think of doing is to buy an RV 12V pump (30-50psi) and assemble the outlet with fittings to feed into the oil gallery where the stock oil pressure sensor is threaded into. BTW my oil pump is new.. Can anyone help!!?? Please don't say I have to buy an Accsump!! Thanks In advance- Yasin
  13. WOW!!! That made my morning!! Some excellent fab. skills there! Yasin
  14. EvilRufusKay - Definately subscribe.....the new edition is the thickest ever and worthy of a great read cover to cover. Yasin
  15. Thanks Wigen. I have not updated my site in a while, I need to get back into it and do some updates, I have been absorbed working on my little Corolla. Its a shame that I did not know exactly when the article was being run as I could have sent some recent pics of quite a few upgrades I recently completed - oh well! David - I have my 300ZX Turbo seats adjusted all the way back as far as they can go. So they sit pretty close to the rear storage bins. I am 6ft tall, so I really like the leg room. I am sure that if I had a helmet on it would be VERY close to the T-Top. I am ordering new Corbeaus for the car really soon, so we will see how they fit and how much room they free up. Regards - Yasin
  16. Thanks Mike! I really appreciate it. The article caught me off guard to be honest. I got home late from work yesterday and went to work on my other project car right away (1985 Turbo Corolla) and did not realize that the magazine was sitting on the dining room table. I noticed it at 11pm just after I came in from the garage and flipped through it quickly and low and behold I was SHOCKED! Jeff P actually wrote the article and I was OK with his remarks and I resepct his opinions, as he has tried lots of parts on his car and who am I to judge Jeff!!! So far all the parts on my car have worked extremely well and I have been careful selecting what I install. All in all, I was happy with the 2page spread (okay that sounds a little too sexxy). LOL! Glad all the hard work is paying off!! Regards - Yasin
  17. Thanks bro....caught me off guard did not realize the car was going to be in this edition of SportZ. Good to see the hard work is paying off. So how was lunch......LOL!! I got to talk to you sooooon... Yasin
  18. Yeah....Stop babbling Afshin and go eat some lunch!! Yasin
  19. Great advice....I have to admit that I am guilty with applying thick coats of paint...so this is definately something to keep in mind. Sorry to hear that you have to go through the pain of scraping it all off...UG! Yasin
  20. Very cool.... VERYCOOL....you can see the similarity to this head to the Toyota Yamaha TG DOHC heads as mentioned earlier, I am sure the head off the Toyota 2000GT would look similar. I just put my kindey and a few other organs on eBay, so when it goes for sale let me know, I'm all over it, although I might be a little physically weak. Yasin
  21. Hi - You are asking alot of good questions. However...you are taking on an engine conversion that I have never seen in my 10+ years messing with Datsuns. I have seen LOTS of engine conversions but never a CA18DET into a 280ZX. The CA18 engine conversions are popular into the 510 and 1200 Datsuns. My thoughts is that it would be easier to take the CA18DET with its tranny and mount that in your car. -Or- Look at the back of the CA18 block and see if the bolt holes match your ZX tranny bellhousing. Nissan had (and still has) alot of compatibility, so don't be surprised if they do fit together. For example, I bolted up an FJ Turbo engine to a 280ZX tranny with no problems (sat at a slight angle) but the shifter still came through the hole in the tranny tunnel perfectly. If you do attempt the CA18 swap you will need the full EFI, ECU etc and engine harness for the CA and mate that to the 280ZX harness. You will need the full wiring diagrams for both cars to make life easier and I hope you have a good understanding and aptitude for electricals as this can be a the very frustrating part of an engine swap. Plus either way you will need to make fabricate new engine mounts to mount the CA engine into your ZX, which is a little tricky too, unless you are a good welder (or know someone). The CA18 will not upset the handling of the ZX and might infact improve it, as the ZX is nose heavy to begine with. I have seen CA18DET pumped up to 300hp, so there is alot of potential, espcially if they are built right and strong! Many people consider them the baby brother of the Skyline's RB26 As an aside you can get lots of performance CA parts from England Good luck! Yasin
  22. Awesome videos....loved them. Yasin
  23. Glad I could help! My Pleas! Yasin
  24. Those are the stock 280ZX NA (not turbo wheels). 14", great looking wheel and you can usually find them on eBay very cheaply. Yasin
