  1. Hey Gang - Well I decided since I have all this time, effort and a few bucks put into this dang car, I should have it professionally appraised for my insurance company. The Appraiser came over to my house and spent a solid hour or so examining the paint, suspension, engine, brakes, wheelstires and interior. He was pretty impressed and liked all the custom stuff. He was very honest and said that he had never done a S130 ZX but had done many 240-280Z and quite a few SBC conversions as well. He has been in the business about 22years. As I was talking about all the details on the car he was writing it all down on a note pad and also went through my 3+" stack of receipts as well!! Well it took him a full week to finally assess the value of the car and prepare a report based on the extensive modifications and the final price he came up with is (drum roll).......... $12,000 (even). My car is classified as "Special Customized and Modified Engine Suspension and Drivetrain". The best part is I qualify for the cheaper Haggerty Classic Car Insurance, which is cool, as this particlar Appraiser is recognized and honored by Haggerty. So I will save a few bucks on insurance, I will have to call them and see what the exact savings is per year and also the stipulations (for example only being able to drive XX miles per year etc etc). I was quite pleased with that number but was hoping for a smidge more. He told me that it would be hard to justify a higher number as the ZX has not officially made it to "Classic Collector Car" status like say a Datsun 240Z or RA Celica. The Appraiser was a very cool guy and very much a true gearhead, he was pretty impressed with some of the things I have done to my ZX and also my Turbo Corolla and even wanted to hire me to work on some of his own cars as he has a pretty big collection. It cost me $100 to have the car appraised and I full encourage you guys to have your cars appraised as well especially if you car is clean and modified, as if it ever gets smacked up or stolen, it would be a bitter pill to swallow if the insurance company writes you a check based on the Blue Book (approx $1800-$2000). So $100 is really piece of mind, crap you will spend that on a set of RCAs!! Well thought I would share. Regards - Yasin
  2. Thanks again gang for the feedback and comments. The SC430 actually is a pretty quick car, maybe not off the line, but as it has a fair bit of torque and where it shines is the midrange acceleration like between 60 to 100mp/h. To me that is where useful power lives, not only off the line, as we spend most of our time driving in the 60 to 100mp/h window. Either way, I was pleased. Regards - Yasin
  3. Chip Foose would be proud! http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=169382419&dealer_id=&car_year=1989&make=NISSAN&distance=200&max_price=&model=240SX&advcd_on=n&end_year=2005&min_price=&certified=n&address=90638&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1984&color=&cardist=30
  4. I agree with Tim those Toyota callipers weight a ton! Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you Mike! Yasin
  5. Sweet..can't wait till Good Guys make it over to Colorado in a couple of weeks. Yasin
  6. John, Cody, Frank and the Gang - Thanks for the compliments and kudos. Much appreciated. I love a good ole humbling session, especially when I am handing them out! Yes Boost is a VERY good thing...okay time to get moving on my Wilwood brake conversion and Z31 ECU swap!! Yasin
  7. Well on Friday my new HKS SSQ BOV arrived - pretty exciting! I bought the BOV, the 65mm steel flange with shipping for only $250 on eBay - great deal! I drove down to my friend Doug's place (who is installing the 500cu.in Caddy motor in his Corvair) and used his Lincoln wire feed mig welder. Everything went smooth...the stock OE pop off valve was a pain in the backside to remove, but after some wrestling came free. I installed a brass 1" pipe plug in its place. I also fiddled with my Turbo XS boost controller until I had my boost set at 10psi. On a quick test drive the car felt excellent....and very strong plus the sound of the BOV was a smile maker!! Here are the pics, you can see my Z31 Turbo coil, my NPR IC, Permacool oil cooler, 60mm KA24 TB, Removed EGR, Flex-A-Lite twin electric fans, JSK polished fuel rail plus my hand polished brass radiator! Coming home (a 45minute drive) driving on a great stretch of curvy sweeping black top along the Mountain side (don't forget this is Colorado), I was doing a brisk but comfortable 70ish mph. Then...I see this red sports car overtaking 2-3 cars at time, hustling at a good pace in my rearview. It was one of these: A new blood red Lexus SC430, 300hp and 325ft.lbs of torque. Driver was a middle aged guy with a much younger and very attractive passenger (of course!). Well he decided that he could not wait for me to politely get over to the right, so he decided to over take me on the right! I smiled like I just won the lottery, and I left the car in 5th and put the hammer down, he was shocked as I started pulling away from his pimp daddy wagon and I could tell he had that Lex. at full song, as hard as he tried he just could not catch the old Datsun and my 80mp/h speedo was buried, we were easily doing triple digit speeds. It was a nice steady strong pull away from his car, and the look on his face was priceless as my 22year old car just made his car get smaller and smaller in the distance. Try explaining that ish to your 25year old honey next to you! I figured Okay we're done and all is cool, next thing you know he is back on my tail (hwy becomes one lane instead of two) and he is riding my bumper hard, again I leave my ZX in 5th and just drop the hammer, only to hand him yet another humbling session. The sound of his jaw hitting the pavement was heard in Greece at the Olympics!! When I got off the hwy, I tooted my horn and gave him a friendly wave but the cloud of defeat was storming over him and his $65,000 baller wagon, so he did not reciprocate... HA it was great!!! LOL.... Here is the old gal after a good scrub, polish and manicure: Man did I mention I love my car at 10psi and I really love the sound of new HKS BOV...LOL Well more to come soon! Regards - Yasin
  8. I have only run mechanical Autometer Boost gauges and they run perfectly, I have one on my ZXT Turbo and one on my Turbo Corolla. Yasin
  9. I hear ya John.. nothin' like a Turbo Toyota (or Nissan Datsun) to go out and hand out some humbling sessions to the Domestic crowd...great video!! Yes engine in that IS300 is the same as the 2JZGTE in the Supra Twin Turbo. The IS300s come normally aspirated here in the US, but strapping a turbo on to them makes them freakishly fast as witnessed by the dropped jaws of all those 'Vette, Camaro, WS6 owners!! Nice! Yasin
  10. Frank - Looks fantastic....great work and can't wait to see more pics as you progress further. Congrats!! Yasin
  11. Cody - We must be on the same wavelength....as I have had my JSK Wilwood adapters from Juan since the beginning of summer and this week I am going to finally order everything for the install. I forget what calipers Afshin used on his Wilwood set-up, I think he is back from Vacation next week, I will have to bug him. Let's compare notes on this one, if you don't mind? Yasin
  12. See you guys are the best nothing but compliments! Is this site for true Datsun gearheads or what!! Keep your damn polished SUs, your damn original Datsun hubcaps and your damn original working clock....gimme powa! powa, powa! Bastaad go pick up that ZX bro...do it for love, do it for community, do it to put a smile on slownrusty's face (okay do it for love!!). Yasin
  13. Its funny those asses over at zcar.com are calling these cars "jacked-up" and "nothing special", as I made this same post over there too. Man I had to humble them! That black ZX Turbo on the flat bed is the truly intruiging one...I means its only at $1000! This is what I figure on it from what I see in the pics (under the hood): Billet Fuel Rail - $150 Aeromotive FPR - $150 BOV - $250 IC with piping - $500 Autometer Gauges - $300 Recaro Seats + harnesses - $500 Misc Earls fittings, Tbolt clamps, silicone connectors - $150 Total: $2000 (and that just under the hood and some interior stuff!!) let alone the body kit, wheels etc etc I wish AZ was closer, I would go for a drive this weekend with the wifey to go see it. Yasin

  16. Glad you guys loved the Video...I knoew you would...here is the scoop: Car with camera is a E39 BMW M5 - 400hp (has a few mods though, so prob. a hair over 400hp) Blue Car up front is a RS6 Avant Audi that dyno'd over 600wheel hp. 17. 4G63 is the twin cam 16V Turbo engine that came in the Evos, Eclipses and Talons and now of course in the EvoVIII - its Mitsubishi's best engine..IMO. Brent Rau is making 1100+whp on his 4G63 at 40psi Yasin
  18. Okay please sit down and brace yourself....its amazing. You will need Quicktime to view it as well, its worth it....trust me! http://www.wrxfanatics.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=200057 After getting some feedback I will give you some details. ENJOY!! Yasin
  19. Cool pics and links! Thanks for sharing. Yasin
  20. SeanyD300zxT makes some excellent points...and you can tell he has the hand of experience!! Datsunlover sounds like you have made up your mind to get the Pathfinder(s) so good luck...after living in Ontario and knowing the ass kicking winter does to vehicles, the salt, the moisture, I find that the best winter vehicle is just a plain jane older FWD Jap car...like a Tercel, Corolla, Civic, Sentra etc etc...these things are bears through any amount of snow and ice (esp. with just regular all season tires), reliable as the day is long, give out great heat, will start in 20below temps every time and will not leave you stranded AND gets 30+mpg!! Which you would be hard pressed to get 20mpg in a Pathfinder, and I don't have to remind you of the cost of gas in Midland!! I say save your $$ and put it towards your Z and just buy something practical for the winter, that has always been my philosophy. That's my 2cents. Yasin
  21. The best way to attach a picture is to hit the "Img" button at the top then copy and paste the link to your picture and then hit the "Img" button once again. In essence it will look like this: ---> Regards - Yasin
  22. When I bought my Holley packaged Walboro 255lph, this is the complete kit with the barbed brass fittings that it came with, I cannot remember the exact size BUT in a pinch Summit Racing selling these fittings from the kit separately, I would try your local hydraulic diesel shop first. Yasin
  23. I've got another pair of BFG Radial TAs that I will trade you for the roll, it will give you a set of four tires! (although the tire in front will be the odd one out!). Yasin
