  1. to do the same time as he has it would take upwards of over 700hp in a 3200 pound car(IE 300zx), because I guestimated that he has 540hp in a 2200 pound car(IE 240z). but there are z31s in the single digits but I dont think any are vg30et's
  2. rb's are inline 6's. the online v8 by nissan I can think of is in a infinity q45, vh45 I think, im not sure. but thats a good motor if u wanted to stick with the nissan name. I like fast cars but I dont care about looks all that much, I changed my bumper and found some free fenders but im not going to paint it just because that money will go into the engine.
  3. king of the hill . sounds like my town Rock Hill. to be the fastes in Rock Hill you need a car that can do like 8s or 7s in the quarter . but as far as ricers go I beat them all on 13PSI. the fastes one a built CRX with fuel management system, I beat him. I got beat by a WRX, he has 25PSi and runs 11s in the 1/4 but the fastes street racer is a red foxbody mustang that does like 8s or some crap like that. but my goal for my car is 12s and 13s in the 1/4, and my goal for my SR20 car, if I even get it, will be 11s in the 1/4. I want my 300zx to be highly street able, Im mainly giving that power so I can drift in it LOL. what color is your 86, have you driven to Rock Hill before, I see a lot of 300zx's
  4. thats the problem, its not the easiest engine to get your hands on, you could buy a 300hp v8 from a 1970 chevelle for 400 bucks, but its hard to find vg30et's. My cousin just bought a parts car for 600, and I know a guy that bought a parts car for 400, its not impossiible but not easy. If you have money there is a 86 300zx turbo for sale for $1000 with 70K original miles on zcar.com in the classifieds. Personally a v8 in my opinion would be fun, but... Im going to be doing a SR20 swap in another car hopefully so im kind of debating on whether to do any thing to my car.
  5. a vg30et is a good motor, personaly I would rather have a drop in than a v8, I like v8s but it takes money to get one of them fast, not that a high hp vg is cheap but I estimate 3 grand or so, I dont know. I have my stock engine at like 14psi and I keep up with a good bit of stuff. gut the intake plenum, t3/t4 turbo im not sure what PSI to run but 15 to 20 should be fine for around 450hp, fuel management system, bigger injectors, fuel pump, bypass valve, better maf, a transmission and half shafts that can handle the power, I am not sure if an open r200 can handle a lot of power as far as having radials or slicks on it HEHE, 3 inch downpipe and exhaust, high flow cat if you have inspections, we are in SC so no inspection. where do you live? I am in Rock Hill(near charlotte) but check out these peoples setups click on members http://www.vg30et.com when I get some funds I am going to do all the junk I said but I only want like 400hp just enough to own modded mustangs and evos
  6. I know where to get a 88 300zx turbo clutch LSD for 100 bucks but im buying that for my Z. Ill probaly try to put a 240 rear end in some how. Ill figure it out when I get there.
  7. Alright, thanks, max hp I want is around 400. the car comes with 80hp and weighs 2000 lbs it should run if rear end holds .
  8. Do you know what the strongest one is called? and is there any way to get a 6spd
  9. ive seen a sr run in a 240sx in my town. smoked my 300zx w/15lbs on stock t3 in the cold. not to change subject but is a sr20 easy to get 300+ to 450 hp on stock internals, with bigger turbo and fuel management. if i do an engine swap I want it to own my 300zx LOL I like the pulsar sr20, 1 throttle body for each cylinder and top mount intercooler LOL. but it comes with 4wd tranny, I want to know if stock sr20 rwd 5spd tranny will work. I can get a motor and all the crap for around 1500 shipped. here is a picture 1990 http://www.venus-auto.com/images/inventory/nissan/i-n14-2.jpg
  10. yea Ill have to see how big the engine bay actually is when I get one, I might go check one out next week. Sr20 is nice but im not big on inline 4's, but might just do that because its easier. people put v8s in opels but 1jz might be bigger with turbo and all
  11. people are made different im sure. ive read some people 6 foot cant fit into a el camino but I can and im 6'4. ive thought about taking the seats out and making them lower but Im starting to really like the Opel GT. i tried to sit into two 240z and had trouble sitting in it so... I fit in my 85 300zx really nicely though, I might put a 1jz or 2jz in a 300zx if one wont fit into a opel gt. Ill just put a rb20 or sr20 into an Opel GT. that car's light weight and aerodynamics deservers a good engine. but If I cant fit into an Opel ill just get my friend to help my weld in seats lower some how:D:D
  12. awesome awesome car. I wanted to do some kind of swap into a 240z but im 6'4 tall so I cant fit in a 240z so I want to do a 1jz twin turbo to single turbo into a 1972 Opel GT. to me its really close to a 240z and is made for tall people so... I just hope that a 1jz will fit. if not it will be my gas milage car with stock inline 4 .... keep up the good work!
  13. I was just wondering about the difference to see if a Weiand blower would work for a pontiac 350... Chevy it is! LOL more info about chevy much easier
  14. I know they are both made by GM, and GM owns chevy and pontiac. But I dont know if there are any differences... like a 1978 pontiac 350 vs 1970 nova 350... difference in mounting. size of block, ect......?
  15. eh, im not really looking for a daily drive with good handling, just want one of these small cars with a decent amount of power to play around with on these back roads(im in the sticks out here) "I had a buddy in high school with an early 70's corrolla with a hopped up 2-tc engine running a pair of dual side draft 45 webers. It was quick for the day running 14.0's in the quarter with one wheel burnouts." haha one wheel burn outs, open rear huh? that reminds me, I recently hopped into a 89 300zx to pull it up about 10 feet on my gravel drive way, and knowing me I had to floor it for about half a second so I did, and the gas pedal got stuck, so the left tire was just spinning out while I was like drifting threw my rocks and my yard till I got the thing unstuck(shoulda turned it off but paniced and started pumping the stuck gas pedal ! LOL) but yea, im not really looking for a good handling car to drive around town, I will have a 280zx turbo for that.
  16. Yea, I wasnt sure where I was supposed to post this(if on the website at all). I looks into the engine bay of a 1973 Toyota Corolla yesterday it looks big enough but Im not sure. Ive heard there are other engines to put in them other than 350s.
  17. What would be the best way to get the most power out of a 1970s Toyota Corolla, what a 350 small block? or are there other engines that would be easier to put in to the car to get a lot of power out of it, maybe 200 torque... I think it would be cool to have a good amount of power out of one of those
