  1. Personally, I never get involved in those types of subject discussions on this site (or almost anywhere). In fact, if the thread title suggests that the thread is political or religious in nature, I won't even open it up. That's not what I come here for. I only opened this thread becuase it suggested I'm not alone it my attitude. That being said, I'm not against those types of discussions on HybridZ. I know that there are some well educated and thoughtful people here who I have respect for. I know others feel the same and may want to debate these types of subjects with folks they respect. HybridZ is an automotive based forum, but like it or not, it has become an online family to many members, and families tend to want to discuss subjects that have impact on their lives. A little spirited debate can be pretty educational. As long as people converse in a respectful manner, and those subjects are contained in their own forum and don't clutter up the rest of the site, it's cool by me.
  2. Are you referring to your vacation??!! Nothing sucks worse than getting all geared up to relax and have a good time then having your parade rained on! Hope you had at least a decent time...
  3. Is it just me, or had response time from the HybridZ server gone waaayy up today?! It's like some incredible drain on the system has been fixed...

    Fuel Cells

I ran out to the garage to take a look under the VR. There is about 3 to 4 inches of clearance between the cell and the mustache bar. I took one other pic from the side to show the sump. I still need to finish up the cell frame and get it painted.

    Fuel Cells

You might be ok facing the sump forward, but even with the sump and the foam there could still be some risk of fuel starvation under hard accelleration on a low tank. On a street car I guess the risk is lower. EDIT: The other potential issue that occurs to me is that facing the sump forward may cause the mustache bar to interfere with the fuel lines. It would depend on the size of your cell and how you mount it. Hiding the fuel lines isn't a concern for me since the rear tub of the Velo Rossa body kit completely hides the sump and the lines when it's installed.
  6. Pete P. also has a nice write-up and wiring diagrams on his site for adding headlight relays to the system. See 'em here: http://alteredz.com/Headlight_Relay_pg1.htm
  7. Looks Sweet! I can't wait to buy the CCW's for my Velo Rossa!
  8. Heh, I did it in about 5 minutes. Figured it might be more effective than the standard "please use the search function..." I tried to upload it to the HybridZ gallery, but it wouldn't allow .gif files to be uploaded. (?)
  9. V8Dats beat me to it, but he's right on. The subject has been covered dozens of times. Hit the search function and welcome to HybridZ.
  10. Aux! It's pretty clever how you disguised the Briggs & Stratton logo on that thing!!
  11. You still got it? Damn, you stole that car from me!
  12. Wow! Sounds like a bunch of trouble!! I had read your posts about tools and parts being stolen and your Tomahawk being damaged, but I had no idea Nate was involved. That probably explains why I never heard from him again. He seemed like a pretty decent kid. Your right about him getting married. That's how I ended up with his V8Z. He wanted to buy an engagement ring and he knew I was interested in his car. He offered me a good deal and I snapped it up. He came back few months later asking if I would sell it back because his fiance really liked the car and wanted him to get it back. So, I sold it back for exactly what I paid. Last I knew he moved to the Beaverton area, then he just dropped off the radar... Too bad he was involved. I hope you're right that he temporarily lost control of his good sense. I'd hate to think he's the kind guy who would do that as a matter of course...
  13. There goes Tim showing off his nice a$$ again... Seriously though, I agree with Tim. If you can afford the extra layout of cash, get the best you can. If it doesn't include the infinite adjustability, you can adapt your welding technique. Not getting the infinite settings shouldn't stop you from buying a decent welder.
  14. Larry - Whatever happened to Nate (Nezzie76)? I bought his V8-Z from him not long after you went to Sheridan. Several months later he came back asking to buy the car back. I sold it to him and never heard from him again. He drove his VR when he came to buy the V8Z back. It was rough, but he had done a fair amount of work to it.
  15. Too bad you have to give up (temporarily?) on the Tomahawk. I'm glad to see you're moving on the GTO. You'll probably finish your GTO before I ever get my VR on the road.
  16. Personally, I think it is. The metal is so thin on our old Z cars that it can be difficult to get the right settings so you aren't burning through the material. Having the infinite adjustablity helps get you to the best possible setting for the job. I admit that I haven't used the units with the 4 or 5 pre-set settings, but I've heard people complain that, at times, none of the settings seem to be just right for the material they are welding. Just my $.02 ...
  17. 200lb front and 250lb rear. Primarily street use.
  18. Nice Job. That cowl hood is subtle. I didn't even notice it in the first few pictures. Maybe it was the stock paint scheme that hides it. Is that a complete after-market hood or did you blend a cowl into the stock hood? Gonna be a nice 'ol hauler.
  19. :icon14: I second that. I love my Millermatic 135. Buy a Miller 135, gas bottle, and auto-darkening helmet and get to welding.
  20. Sounds good! Next time I get to Kennewick, I'll call and ask you to start the car so I can just follow the sound to your garage.
  21. Whoever wins the auction will be throwing them away once they realize what a pile of crap those flat-tops are...
