  1. I thought fiberglass heats up pretty significantly as it cures. I've never played with fiberglass, but thats what I've heard. Obviously, I have no clue how warm it gets so, that stuff may work...
  2. Not disagreeing with your assessment, but my personal experience with worn TOBs is the opposite. The noise has gone away when I depress the clutch. In any case, I hope you find the problem and it isn't too expensive to correct. Good luck.
  3. I can't comment on the tranny fluid question, but I agree with Doug that, from your description, the whining noise is likely caused by the throw out bearing. If it is the TOB, changing fluid won't fix the whining problem.
  4. I went to Lowe's and found some larger o-rings in the plumbing department. I slid the sleeve over the strut with the o-ring in between. I works well in keeping the sleeves from rotating when you adjust the ride height.
  5. I'll second what J.P. said. Ross is a good guy to work with, his products are solid and he stands behind them. I don't know how well he's known outside the Z community so, if you're worried about getting a better known 'name' you can consider Ground Control. They do coil-overs for many vehicles and are known in the sports car racing community. I doubt you'll get any better product or service from them than you'll get from Ross.

    new posts?

It posted my reply first in a thread too. It also looks like either posts may have been lost or the 'accounting' for the number of posts members have submitted got hosed up too. I have far less posts than I used to. Looks like a few gremlins to work out. Its a good package though. The same one used over at the Classic ZCar site.
  7. Joel - If you can't find a good pair, I can get you halfway there. I've only got one. The other had munged splines. EDIT: Not sure why my reply is showing up as the first message in the thread ???
  8. I agree. Definitely 60's Italian influence. I thinks its cool. If the rails and pans aren't rotted out it would be a very cool project. If it were nearer to me, I'd take a look at it myself.
  9. It reminds me of this woman I saw in Cancun, Mexico. This gorgeous woman wearing a very skimpy bikini was standing waste deep in the hotel pool: beautiful face and she had obviously been for a visit to Silicone Boy. Very nice, perky set... From behind my sunglasses, I watched closely as she waded toward the pool steps and proceded to emerge from the pool. OMG!!! Her cottage cheese a$$ and enormous thighs were overflowing her bikini bottoms. I almost spit out my margarita in disgust Instead, I downed it in gulps trying to wipe the vision of her a$$ from my mind. Truely hideous! Moral: If your gonna have surgery finish the WHOLE product before you unveil it. Although, I doubt there is much that can be done on the a$$ end of that Cobra abortion. Too hard to hide the Rustang underneath. Hideous!
  10. I don't have working links for Ron's site' date=' but Pete has a good write-up and pictures: http://alteredz.com/drivelinemods.htm Here's a couple of pics: [img']http://alteredz.com/image/drivelinemods/front_diff_mount_topv.jpg[/img]
  11. Hey Scott, I just took a look on the server and saw that the full name of the movie has spaces in it (TNT by MIB low res.mov). I changed the name of the file to tnt.mov So, you should be able to get to it via: http://www.marcsgarage.net/zr8ed/tnt.mov EDIT: OOPS! Jeromio posted while I was changing the name of the vid. Sorry about that!! Please use the link I posted. Also: Not for Dial-up unless you have lots of time to kill. ~20Mb. Great vid, though!
  12. Scott - How many vids do you need hosted? I've got a fair amount of space available on my site. I can setup a directory for you if you still need it.
  13. Same for me. No 'Place and Ad' button. I don't think it's a browser setting. I get the same results if I'm at work using IE or at home using Firefox or Netscape.
  14. If you're blind, so am I. I can't figure it out either. Can someone clue us in?
  15. I second that. Location (state, at least) needs to be mandatory.
  16. Sweet. You've got a unique and very nice looking Spyder! Well done!
  17. An engine. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Like Magnum says, start checking for rust: - Frame rails - floor pans under the battery tray - rockers - hatch area I'd also check the wiring out as best you can and ensure the lights and other accessories are in working order. The stock fuse boxes on the 240's have a nasty habit of heating up and melting. Not certain what the seller means by he's "done everything from the mounts to the tranny." I assume this means the trans and the rest of the drive train are there and in good working order. Has he replaced all of the suspension bushings? What else has he "done?" Are you planning on putting a stock type L6 motor or converting to another engine?
  18. Welcome. As 72zcars hints: use the search function. Those questions have been answered in detail many times. There's tons of good information in the old posts. You will also want to buy the JTR (Jags Than Run) book on Z car V8 conversions. It'll end up being your bible during the swap. Good luck!
  19. Nope. Never. O.k. I can think of a couple. One ocurred when I was a young car stereo installer in the '80s. I sold a cassette deck to an older gentleman for his old Ford Courier. His truck had a rats nest of wiring where he had added extra lights for his canopy and other crap. I installed the deck, carefully (I thought) checking all of the wiring and making sure the radio was well grounded. The guy picks up his truck and is backing out of his parking place as I watch, turns on his headlights and... the cab of his truck suddenly fills with smoke. The truck lurches to a halt and he stumles out coughing. Turns out I didn't check the wiring well enough. Somehow I tapped into the headlight circuit. Fried some of his wiring, fried the tape deck. He was cool about it, but I ended up spending A LOT of time fixing everything and ate my commission on the whole deal. Once, when installing a small amp under the dash of a car I drilled some holes in the firewall to mount it. Stupidly, I didn't check what was on the other side and drilled a hole perfectly through the center of a hard brake line. (what an idiot... )
  20. For me it was: 1. Gut the interior (including dash & all glass). 2. Pull engine, trans, radiator, etc. 3. Up on jack stands to pull the suspension. 4. Removed doors and back hatch. 5. On to the rotisserie and pull all the little stuff you missed. Buy a box each of the large and small ziplock bags. A bunch of post-it notes to label and put in the bags with the parts and put bags of 'like' parts into cardboard boxes. I was anal about it, but I can generally find anything I'm looking for pretty quickly. I used my digital camera to 'photo document' everything just in case I needed a reference to put it all back.
  21. Awwww, man! I thought I was going to be original with those lights. I bought a pair of '70 Camaro taillight housings at a swap meet two years ago for my Velo Rossa project. Haven't installed 'em yet. Anyway, the lights look great on your Z. Nice work!
  22. Search for posts by Maichor. He did a non-hicas complete rear swap from a 240. Here is one of his write-ups: http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=37733
  23. and a chain link steering wheel too!
  24. Very cool! Congrats on the maiden voyage. I'm going to have to take some motivation from you getting your VR on the road. Mine's collected a whole lot more dust than yours and is nowhere near test ready. I haven't touched mine in 4-5 months until yesterday. Gonna hafta change that. Keep us posted on further developments.
