Waiting on a new AFM & coolant temp sensor that will hopefully get the old girl running smooth. Currently in the process of re designing the intercooler set up. I'll be using an IC with both end tanks mounted on one end so I can run very short pipes through the driver side frame holes. Should decrease turbo lag & heat soak. It will also look a hell of a lot cleaner and enable me to use the stock fan if I so desire.

Finally got the car running today! Apparently I had a bad coil igniter and fried ecu. Replaced them and fired right up. Just need to get it tuned up now and hopefully Ill have some videos and pictures up soon. Big thanks to winstonusmc for helping me with my wiring mess.

Yeah then once it hits the mark it will take 9-13 months to produce and send out. So could take up to 2016 haha.

So I was working on the Z today and had the rear hatch open with a box fan blowing inside the car. I was working in the engine bay and began smelling an extremely strong piss odor. I followed my nose and came to the conclusion that it was coming from behind the dash somewhere. I found a few mouse turds and chewed wires before this so I figured there must have been some nesting area I havn't found yet. I looked under the dash all over and didn't see anything that could produce such a hanus whiff of urine. I decided to remove the a/c condensor figuring that there was nastiness on the top of it. Plus I wasn't going to ever use a/c and weight reduction is beneficial and free.. Well I pulled it out, weighed about ten pounds. Oh wait whats this? Could this be where the horrible stench is coming from? Judging by evidence found at the crime scene the suspect moved in sometime in 2008. I'm really glad I found this instead of writing it off as old car smell.

I'm sure this is true. So it's not exactly period correct but I want my black on black action. This program will allow the 60's black and yellow on any year vehicle.

I always thought it would be cool to get some blue & yellow original style plates for my Z. Or even better black and yellow to match my black car. Well now you can! The HEI module upgrade had been done prior to this per the write up with the same problem. I currently have another ecu on the way.

The smaller wires you speak of are not present.

I appreciate the responses you guys have given me. I'm going to start with some basic stuff first before I start buying a new wiring harness or ecu. First thing I would like to clear up is the ground straps. I read that the body is the best area to ground on and not the starter. I currently have both battery ground straps attached to the starter.

Would it matter if my ecu is for an auto trans? a18-604 046

If I offer $100 to anyone who can help I'll get a bunch of guys who have basic knowledge trying to get some easy money and leave me with a car that sits in the garage. I would much rather get an experienced guy to come and spend some time and get the car running and I give him $500 bucks for finally getting my car back on the road. Basically If I'm offering someone beer and gas it's because I don't think they can handle it. Hopefully that clears things up for you. Yes a unmolested harness is probably a good idea..

Welcome to my nightmare.. This little guy has me confused.. its got audi & vw logos on it..not sure whats actually plugged into it but the thing looks like hell..

I take some detailed pictures today and post here that way anyone who wants to come give it a shot knows what to expect. I will pay for gas + beer. If someone could get it running I would give them some good money depending on how long it takes

I've opened up the dizzy and didn't see anything out of place. Not sure if there's a way to check it since the 82-83's are internal

Coil is getting power. It had a standard 240 coil at first, then I got a used 280zx turbo coil when all the new harness and ecu went in. The used 83 coil was leaking fluid so I bought a new one but haven't had a chance to try starting it with the new one wired up. I guess that would be worth doing ehh? My mechanic said he checked everything multiple times and his final prognosis was that it must be the ecu. I personally don't think this is the case since the car died with the old ecu in and hasn't started since. I'm sure it's something dumb..just a matter of tracking it down..

I'm in Murrieta 92562. I bought an 83 turbo coil w/ ignitor & 83 dizzy

Most connections are labeled, the wiring harness I bought was pre cut for a swap into a 240. The engine does turn over just no spark.

The story goes I bought a 73 240z with 280zx turbo pieces and a wiring harness & ecu from a 79 280z. While the car was in my mechanics possession the car suddenly died while he was testing it out. Instead of finding out why it died he decided to proceed to install an 83 turbo wiring harness & ecu. He couldn't get it running and says the car now has no spark and is causing it not to start. I had the car towed back to my house where I have been doing other things to it. I'm a dummy when it comes to wiring and would gladly pay someone who knows what he's doing to get this car back on the road. PM me if your interested and have the know how. Thanks alot

Got some cool weather to work in today so I decided to black out some more stuff Finally got around to putting the new seats in, I didn't think it would make much of a difference but danm are they looking good in there! Put the new rear interior pieces together, & installed the rear hatch seal. Changed valve covers, finally got rid of that nasty red thing. Under the cover looked extremely clean..

Looks really good. Some cool mods already on it too. Those small areas that will need attention will just make you get a closer bond to the old girl.
