  1. Just got my wisdom teeth out too. Fun stuff. Hurray for Top gear marathons.
  2. Found one, thanks everyone!
  3. Howdy,

Sorry for the delay, I was out of town. Unfortunately I don't have any flanges left. I'm sorry to hear about the garage!

  4. ah any flanges for the l28 by anychance?? been scoaring and tried many different searches, this is a pretty old thread, and if you don't add header, alot of other stuff added in there.... and this wasn't on the first few pages... I can paypal $ imediately, also if you don't have these flanges availible, do you know where I can get them? I had 2, but my garage burned down, :(

  5. I'm looking to buy all 3 lower front valance panels, preferably in the 280z design. I have a Xenon urathane front air dam that I'll trade, or pay cash.
  6. Something that has probably never ever been done, a Z32 tranny on a Porsche 928 block. She fits like a dream. This weekend I finished the adapter plate as well as steel engine mounts. Next time I'll hang the engine in the bay and weld everything together.
  7. Yeah we could definitely share files. Are you working in Solidworks too? Mine are dimensionally accurate for the most part, but I wouldn't mind if someone added to them. Email me at andrewmccalip@gmail.com.
  8. Provided it clears the steering rack and I can relocate the alternator, I'll be able to simply bolt the headers on backwards and mount the turbo in front of the motor. The CAD is definitely a huge help. Solidworks is a dream to work in, especially 2009... I hope to go down to Houston this weekend and do about 20 hours of work on mounting the engine. The tranny adapter needs to be machined, motor mounts cut and welded, and the engine hung in the bay.
  9. The clamp idea makes me cringe for o-ring injectors. The proper way is to use a billet fuel rail that has 11mm bores for the orings to seat into.
  10. My thoughts exactly. Its a great car, but needs about 100hp more to be a real thrill. I was commenting to a buddy who was in the car that the exhaust doesn't really come in until about 5k rpm. A less restrictive and louder one would be great.
  11. Hey chris, we still need to get exhaust to you. I forgot about it when you had the trailer there. I'm assuming the engine made it back with you in one piece?
  12. Today I got to cruise around town in a childhood favorite car, the Acura NSX. The small engineering firm that I work at has a large collection of amazing cars, NSX, 996 twin turbo, 928, audi rs6 to name a few. Today I got permission to take this baby home. It drives spectacularly. The car is almost as light as a Datsun. The suspension is firm and very very planted. No power steering to take away from the driving experience. Manual 5spd of course. The torque is good from 3k-8k. The large powerband makes it so much fun in the city. The interior is fairly plush, and overall its a nice car to just cruise around in. Totally civilized and at no time did I get the feeling it was trying to kill me (like the 996). To quote Ferris Bueller. "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
  13. Made some progress this week! I pulled the L28 and now have an empty engine bay. Time to start designing the mounts and adapters. I'm wanting some sort of semi solid mount, but with decent vibration dampening. This initial design has a 1/2" thick rubber pad on the 2"x8" mounting plate.
  14. Looking good! That should be great fun. Yeah they are fairly heavy! Although I think getting rid of the power steering pump, compressor, and air pump will really help. Goldfish, don't feel too bad. The 928 is getting a brand new 5.5l stroked turbo'd engine put back into it.
  15. The plugs were fouling on 2 cylinders, looks like oil blowby. The turbo is in good condition, no oil leaks. Headgasket was replaced, as was the manifold gasket. L28et blocks are fairly difficult to find in this area. I checked every junkyard within 50 miles of Houston. This engine came all the way from ohio.
  16. I've been to visit the turbochargers.com store and they are a nice bunch of guys. Definitely a good place to do business with.
  17. Good eye. My engine is a 4.5l 16v single cam from a 1982 928. The other engine on the stand is my buddy's 5.5l stroked dual cam 32v which he is building at the same time as me. The reason for the complicated exploded diagrams was that I was highlighting the difficulty of adapting the Z32 transmission to the 928 block. I want to use the Z32 clutch and flywheel too, which need adapter plates to work. The bores are nikasil coated, which greatly helps any wear issues.
  18. I've started to model the problem of the transmission. From left to right approximately. Red is the engine block. Blue is the crankshaft. Yellow is the transmission adapter plate. Pink is the crank adapter plate. Green is the flywheel adapter plate. Beige is the flywheel. Orange is the clutch. Teal is the pressure plate. The grey shaft is the input shaft to the tranny. Some of the pieces have been simplified for mockup's sake. I've been modeling for about 12 hours this weekend. Its nice to be working inside on the computer instead of out in the heat. The reason I'm having to make this complicated adapter setup is because I'm wanting to use an existing 300zx flywheel/clutch with the porschecrankshaft, and obviously the two have quite different bolt patterns. If it becomes too much work, I may just cnc a custom billet flywheel.
  19. I weighed the dash before and after. I think the difference was about 4 pounds.
  20. Woah! That is weird! It doesn't for me. Its just an html page I made with a photo gallery. Very strange.
  21. We have something in common 1/8th scale custom brushless setup. Combined nitro Hyper 7 parts with a lot of cnc made things. http://s189256493.onlinehome.us/Truggy/
  22. You're right, they are slightly heavy. The total weight is 550lbs. However almost 100lbs of that is belt driven pumps on the front end. I'm eliminating the AC compressor, air pump, and power steering pump. With other changes, I can get the weight to a reasonable level. The horsepower goal is 500 to the wheels, which is something the Z32 tranny should hold up to.
  23. I'm working in Solidworks 07 right now. Does anyone else use it?
