  1. The seats I got for mine are made by a place called Dynamic Auto Design. Probably pretty close to the seats you are describing I would think. Kind of a race seat/fast and furious look? Mine were also 21" at the base, they fit in a 240Z no problem. The 280Z's have a little less room to work with because the transmission tunnel is wider, but the seats may still fit with a little work. Hope this helps a little. Mike
  2. Lol, for a minute there, that last picture had me fooled, thought you had a wicker airdam
  3. Currently building 2 of mine. 1: 72 240Z. 383 stroker w/ large valve aluminum heads and all other expensive crap I could find on Ebay, should be up near 500 horsepower. T-56, R-200 VLSD, Fuel cell, Huge brakes, coilover suspension, 17"X10.5" Cobra R rims, ZG flares, custom hood and front valance, Racing seats w/ semi stripped interior, JDM fender mirrors, shaved side markers, shaved drip rails, custom tail lights, Gunmetal paint. 2: 78 280Z. Toyota Supra/Cressida 7MGE NA motor converted to dual side draft carbs. Coilover suspension, 17"X7" ADR 8 spoke gunmetal wheels, Flat black bullet mirrors, satin black paint, big fart can exhaust. And another one I'd like to do, but am too much of a chicken to try. 3: LS1 powered 240/260/280 Ralley Z. Lifted 4-5" all terrain tires, full cage, to be chased by legions of angry datsun purists Mike
  4. Feh! You're all wrong. He was at his peak of tone and creativity on The Extremist Yngwie Malmsteen is also a pretty good listen if you're into shredding Mike
  5. What the hell kind of fetish is that? You have to wonder what kind of government testing and approval process that went through
  6. (Cartman voice)"Yeah.... It's pretty cool" Can't beat it for the price. Plus you don't have to deal with all the stupid stuff involved with Yahoo photo albums, and you get to help out a fellow Z guy in the process.
  7. Not sure if I'm spelling it right, but I think his name was Albecht Goertz. He had a lawsuit against Nissan for the Z, which wasn't really designed by him, but by Nissan engineers that had studied under him. They eventually settled out of court if I remember correctly, with Nissan still maintaining that they designed the Z, but that the german dude had showed them how to design it. I have a book with pictures of some of the original concepts for the Z, one of which was actually named the 2000 GT. Looks almost identical to the Toyota 2000 GT, and was made some time in 1964. So it actually looks as though the 2000GT is a spin off of a cancelled development project by Nissan. You'd think Toyota would have at least changed the name.....
  8. I really like the styling of my Z's, but if given a choice I would definitely trade it in on a 2000GT. The lines, while similar to the Z's, are different enough to give it a much more exotic look. The lower stance is nice too, much better for Darwin Award-esque speed runs on deserted roads. My next choice for a hybrid cantidate would be the Volvo P-1800. Very original looking cars as well. Mike
  9. Wow, thats pretty hideous. Makes the Knight Rider interior look uncluttered and ergonomic in comparison. Did they have Lockheed contracted for the interior work maybe?
  10. I have a flat top AR-15 with a 10X scope monted to it. For accuracy, I'd have to say it's just as accurate as most bolt actions I've shot. It will consistantly put 5 rounds into less than an inch at 100 yards, and is accurate out to about 500-600 yards. Past that, the lightweight bullet tends to lose a lot of energy and gets thrown around by the wind quite a bit. The 223 cartridge makes a lot of sense for police use because although it will defeat body armor, it loses most of it's energy doing so. There is a reduced risk of overpenetration and resulting injury to innocent bystanders. Having said that, personally I'd take a 308 over a 223 any day. I got the AR-15 so my girlfriend would have something to shoot that doesnt knock her backwards into the dirt Mike
  11. It would have been awsome if a private citizen with a bolt action hunting rifle had stopped those two clowns. That episode was probably what sealed the deal for Kalifornias ban on assault weapons. Arguably the dumbest legislation ever passed in this state. Typical knee jerk reaction. However I do agree with them adding AR-15's to patrol cars. A .223 will go through body armor, no problem. Small, high velocity round. Excellent penetrating power at ranges up to about 400 yards. Remember the FBI agents at Waco who were killed by AR-15's? I'm of the opinion that the money that is wasted towards banning guns for everybody would be much better spent on an improved background check system. Law abiding citizens should be allowed to own whatever they want. Transfers of firearms should be handled through dealers, helping to ensure that weapons legally purchased are not later transfered to criminals. You should also be held responsible for criminal actions that are commited with your gun, unless it has previously been reported stolen. This would also go a long way towards keeping guns away from criminals. I don't have a problem with doing the background check or transfer paperwork, but I do have a problem when the government decides which guns law abiding citizens can or cannot own. Bottom line, the 2nd amendment is the cornerstone upon which all of our rights are built upon. Removing the right to keep and bear arms would mean that we are no longer a free country. Mike
  12. We lit one of those in my shop one time. Probably one of the dumber things I've done in my life. On the plus side, it blew all the dust off of the pipes and cables in the overhead, made cleaning a lot faster.
  13. I think one of the old Godzilla movies (Godzilla vs Megalon?) had a 432 Z in it. Been a few years though so I can't say for sure, plus I get stupid sometimes. But for what its worth, I think thats what it was Mike
  14. The assault weapon ban will sunset in September, currently there is nothing up for a vote that would replace it or extend it. This will let you go out and put flash hiders and collapsable stocks on your post ban weapons. I think it will also allow the importation of foriegn made weapons again, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Either way, I'm still stuck owning the bolt action stuff out here in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. All my evil black guns are in Arizona Mike
  15. I wonder how they came up with an 11 day waiting period (as opposed to a 10 or 15 day, or some other rational number). Communists think funny.
  16. 30-06 would be a good choice, as it is about the same length as the 8mm Mauser round, and will feed from the mag with no modifications. 308 is a bit shorter, and normally needs a spacer inserted into the mag to make them feed correctly. These barrels are already threaded and chambered, and are pretty cheap to boot. http://www.gunsnstuff.net/FAC/016.asp They do require finish reaming to the correct headspace, and if done correctly will have your Yugo shooting into less than 1" at 100 yards. Probably overkill, but being able to hit a postage stamp at 100 yards makes for some serious bragging rights Mike
  17. Some pics of mine, can you see the Mauser receiver buried in there?
  18. Nice looking rifle. I bought a VZ-24 a lot like it about 2 years ago. With the exception of the bolt handle, and barrel length, the VZ-24, M48, and Mauser 98 are all the same. (There are severla varients of each of them, but nearly all retain the same receiver dimensions). There are a LOT of aftermarket accesories for the Mauser rifles. Just do a search on Ebay for "Mauser 98". FAC sells quite a few aftermarket mods for them as well, including heavy match barrels, target stocks, scope mounts, etc. Heres a link to their site: http://www.gunsnstuff.net/ Right now, mine looks nothing like a Mauser. It's pretty sick actually, but I can't shoot it yet because I still need to do some chamber work on the new barrel. Good luck finding an Enfield rifle. I haven't seen one in a gun store for a few years now. A company called Tristar is manufacturing completely new versions of these rifles in 308 caliber that use standard M-14 magazines. Kinda pricy thoughhttp://www.tristarsportingarms.com/m10rifles.htm Anyhoo, good luck with the Yugo. Mike
  19. Thats kinda cool. Not quite Daytona, not quite GTO either. Maybe the result of a Daytona humping the GTO?
  20. nah, right handed/left brained. Where I left my brain I can't quite remember...... I know that left handers tend to be more artistic, which is probably why drawing in perspective is so hard for me. We're talking brow wrinkled in thought, hunched over slide rule, sweating (and cursing) profusely kind of pain in the a$$. Drawing anything other than 2D is a chore. And I'm never happy until it's "just perfect". Feh. I can't even count how many decent drawings I've crumpled up into little balls and sent flying because they didn't make the cut. Even now I'm looking at mine and thinking "Whats wrong with that cars suspension?...." the front wheel is just a little off, like the strut has been torn from the tower or something. I definitely think we need to keep cranking out the sketches, maybe give the fiberglass guys on here a few ideas maybe. Keep the ideas coming guys. Mike
  21. Z-TARD

    Awesome mod!

Whoa! It's "Lord of the Bling!"
  22. Yeah, but everyone has the "Calvin peeing on _______" decals these days. They need to make a Calvin peeing on Calvin sticker Supposedly the guy that draws that cartoon never granted permission for that image to be used, he doesn't get a dime from those things I did enjoy seeing a Calvin peeing on Osama Bin Laden decal though Mike
  23. Crap. Now you got me doing it..... I think this one goes a long way towards fixing a lot of the areodynamics problems our Z's have. Minimized front grill opening. Large vent on hood to allow air from grill to escape over top of vehicle (Can't see it in the picture very well, but it IS there There are no hard edges on the hood, and it would have been difficult to get the angles and shading right to show its shape, so I didn't. Shrug..... ) Vents behind wheel wells, also for evacuating air from under the car. Shaved drip rails, flush mount fuel caps behind quarter windows. I'm still not sure about the side skirts, I may do another drawing with something different than those. Anyhoo, critique away guys, Mike
