  2. Seriously, this looks wicked and is something I might try to do with some engine... probably a much smaller engine. I don't guess I could make it street legal http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/27/three-wheeled-death-wish-blown-hemi-powered-trike/
  3. No. The older narrow block 4G63's have a different pattern and other as compared to the newer EVO 4G63's. Try this for some info on early 4G63 tranny options, though: http://www.projectzerog.com/transmissions.shtml
  4. True, but there isn't a way to rear wheel drive it yet. Well, last time I looked a few months ago, there wasn't even anything to mount up an automatic RWD tranny. Also, the USDM EVO 4G63 engines (especially MIVEC) are retarded expensive. I was going with an old 1st Gen 4G63 because I nearly got it for free.
  5. (I meant "ratio" but I can't edit the title) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180323713545 I can't imagine a gear that size would even fit in there! Keep in mind, this is the same seller who recently listed a non-turbo 280ZX engine as a turbo engine and took pictures of the inject blower to prove it; I notified him of the error and he responded that he just took the wrong pictures and would replace them - the was removed but it hasn't gone back up, probably because he was embarrassed that he didn't know what he was selling.
  6. Understood, but there's a lot of stuff that gets machined or drilled and is trusted to spin very fast. Besides, flywheels are drilled from the factory - it's not a cast piece. I'll be paying a professional machinist to drill it the correct pattern and do it, well, professionally.
  7. I'm assuming I can find a 2JZ non-turbo flywheel for $0-$20 and the modifications to it should be under $100. Let's say my numbers are a bit off and it comes out to $150 - I'm still more than $100 LESS than the cost of a new, OEM 1JZ flywheel. I've been having to pinch pennies lately and this is one more way to do it.
  8. That's funny - most people say just the opposite. It's probably the case again where people who don't know what they're doing make it seem insurmountable for those who could or would... like me.
  9. Looks great, but I'm going to guess it's probably not as functional as it is pretty. I'm interested in understanding what the purpose of all this work is.
  10. Something more than "bump" would have indicated that.
  11. What the heck are you bumping this for?
  12. Philip!!! I KILL YOU!!!!! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=143710
  13. ProjecZeroG.com is a great source. The key to this all is two words: "Bill Hincher." I was going the RWD 4G63 route but wussed out and grabbed a 2JZ instead; I had already bought the engine, custom bellhousing and the R154 and had already figured out what all I was going to do. Sold everything 4G63 but kept the R154 to use for the 2J. Still, I'd love to see a 4G63'd Z. It's already been done in a 510. Do it. Do it.
  14. I say find a way to block of the BOV entirely to remove the variable. It's easier than recirculating, probably. I don't know what the flange is like on those valves, but it could be as easy as a piece of steel or aluminum (even wood) with holes drilled the correct distance apart and bolting it to the flange. You can even use the BOV flange itself as the template or template maker to be sure you get the holes drilled correctly. the end of my .02
  15. Actually, maybe not... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180323348508 The dude apparently thinks the injector blower motor is a turbo; or, perhaps he thinks he can fool people into thinking it is. Not a bad deal for a whole non-turbo engine, though. Possibly has a P79 head. I sent him a message to tell him it's naturally aspirated.
  16. Oooo... nice one. I think that's my vote, too. Get out a good sized screwdriver and use it as a stethoscope by sticking the pointed end against the valve cover and put your ear against the handle part and move the screwdriver to various points along the valve cover to find the loudest part. If it's really a dull sound no matter where you put it, try to get the screwdriver down to the block and do the same. NOTE: It is very important you don't stick the pointed end in your ear. If you can't figure out why, then do it and rid the world of you.
  17. Thanks. It's interesting and I have no doubt people appreciate another option.
  18. 7MGTE throw out bearing doesn't work? I thought it did. Speeder said he used the 7MGTE flywheel, but I believe he misspoke - the 7M's crank bolt-pattern is 6 holes, not the 8 of the 2JZ's. I imagine he did what I plan to do - get a non-turbo 2JZ flywheel and have the pressure-plate-to-flywheel bolt pattern matched to my 7M pressure plate I already have. 7M flywheel (aftermarket, I suppose) 2JZ flywheel (aftermarket, though) Regarding shifter extensions, some people are okay with how far forward the shifter is in the hole and some people don't want their engines all the way up against the firewall. There is/was a factory extension that cost $80 total to have your shifter come out about 1.5" further back than a stock Supra R154. I'll just wait and see where mine ends up and decide what to do. At most, I imagine I could be wanting 2" further back than what I'll end up with.
  19. Sorry, I don't get it. Perhaps, for starters, explaining what "SX" is; my only guess is "240SX." It's not free either if you have to get parts from another car. From what little I can gather, it seems like a neat trick.
  20. Nearly two years after the last post... Prox and others, did you ever figure it out?
  21. Soarer bell housing and Soarer flywheel. Actually, if you have a 5spd 1JZ tranny, then you already have what you need. Or you can use a MKIII Supra Turbo R154 and buy a 1JZ/Soarer bellhousing to mount it to the 2JZ. You can do a Google search or find all the answers to your 2JZ swap questions here; this is a hotly discussed topic on any 2JZ site. You're going to get a lot of your posts deleted or sent to the Tool Shed, fyi - more searching and reading.... less posting.
