  1. Cool. Two things: First, am I seeing your exhaust pumping out the side of your driver side lower quarter panel? That's how I've been wanting to do a S30 but my current body is too nice and original to cut. I wonder how well it might help with fumes in the passenger cabin. Second, please DO NOT post any videos on Photobucket - they are the worst quality and the sound is usually very tinny, like it's coming through a coffee can and a sea shell. I only say this because I noticed you're posting with Photobucket. Wouldn't want a good video to be lamed because of the sound and video quality of Photobucket.
  2. Thanks, fellers. We're celebrating 6 birthdays tonight at my parents' house and it's suppose to go late. I think I will make 6 Mud Slides at about 6 oz. each. I love those!
  3. Mr. Unoriginal... today anyways. I've just stepped into the third decade and it... is... weird. I'm 10 days younger than my wife and our combined age is now 60 years old and I found it strange to be staring into my 6 month old daughter's eyes this morning as I thought about it. My wife says I may no longer be able to eat hot dogs, corn dogs, or pizza right before going to bed around midnight without repercussions upon my lean, manly physique... then she took it back. Wish me a better year (and decade) than the past two years I've had. POI - My dad will be 60 in a month and that will be the first and last time he's twice my age!
  4. A guy on SupraForums.com is sticking a 2JZ-GTE in his 4Runner and will also be using Megasquirt. Actually he's already got video of it up and running, though not driving. He's using LS2/truck coils and he has modified his stock crank sensor wheel so it's a 12-1 wheel for the stock 2JZ crank sensor to read. I was planning on using the stock crank sensor and the rear cam sensor for TDC per Speeder's note in another thread. Apparently the 12-1 is accurate enough for this guy and I think he's shooting for ~500HP, though I don't recall. I haven't gone headfirst into Megasquirt or standalones in general yet, but I do seem to recall a 12-1 not providing very good "resolution." My post here has a two-fold purpose: 1.) to show others this can be done and 2.) to get some thoughts from the HybridZ perspective. I'll probably go the same route as this guy because it's simple, it works, and I can hit him up for some fuel/ignition maps. I was planning to use the LS2/Truck coils, as well. http://supraforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6660578&postcount=103
  5. Ditto... but I hope it never ends! (isn't that funny... I'm so funny)
  6. Two mufflers: one under the driveshaft and another 3-chambered muffler as big as you can fit in the stock location. That'll be pretty dang quiet.
  7. Too true... very noice! What's worse is that all these excuses are for "roll-on" street racing rather than real, "legitimate" drag racing on the street, which is all there is these days.
  8. Looks like I win! So does this mean I win a GT45 turbo bought with HybridZ donations?
  9. Huh? Why did you post a link to ZGad's video here? You know it's posted all over the place here, right?
  10. Ha! Looks like some type of Borg Warner box - perhaps a 280ZX Turbo (T5's?) but I don't know my trannies. I DO know it's no transmission from a 280Z or earlier.
  11. Black cars are the only cars that should have black engine bays. I think engine bays should match the rest of the body or compliment it. Black is the wussy way out. Or you can do safety pink... I approve.
  12. It's high time you get some decent video for us: car running, exhaust, passing at 60mph. I NEED it. While I'm going with the newer Toyota L6, I still love to pay attention to the 7M... if not just to know that the engine I'm using has even more potential.
  13. If you watch the video, I believe he said he does and even takes a few seconds in the video to show it.
  14. [threadjack]I just got my 1JZ R154 bellhousing from Toyota for $315 shipped. They're still making them. It's about $375 shipped from Driftmotion.com[/threadjack]
  15. 2 more cents from me: I'm mostly tired of the guys who think they need 1000cc injectors to make 500HP at the flywheel and have no intent of going higher. Same thing happens with turbochargers. Correct sizing is what it's all about.
  16. It's all very similar to the standard "how much power does [this] give you." It doesn't really make sense to ask that question for various reasons I have trouble putting into words.
  17. In Texas, I believe they have to be the same year. Our old plates had the vehicle model year listed on them, I believe. I could be mistaken. Regardless, I have antique plates for my car right now and will be keeping my eyes peeled for '77 Texas plates. eBay is actually a good place to find old plates, FYI.
  18. Is it the staggeringly acerbic wit that makes one a moderator?:
  19. http://jalopnik.com/5185062/google-street-view-laps-laguna-seca-with-alms-race-cars Pretty neato, that Google. Follow link for more images.
  20. It can be done and there are a few Megasquirted JZ engines on the internet. Standalone engine managements don't care what they're running as long as they know how many cylinders you're running, the type of ignition you're using, give it a few sensor signals, and can tune it. My 2JZGTE will be run by MS once I have some money to spend on it. Here's a fairly detailed, in-progress project write-up by a guy on Supra Forums putting a 2JZ in his 4 Runner. http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6665824
  21. Funny stuff... now how about you just direct everyone to Digg.com instead?
  22. Those are my ideal wheels, Bert! Who, what, where, how much, please? Actually, I'd prefer them in 16's if I could find tires that fit the width well for a decent price. Also, I might prefer 8's in front. I would love to see full-car pictures!
