  2. oh okay yeah that makes sense thanks ill look into doing that! hopefully they are similar in diameter
  3. what 5 spoke caps are you talking about. do you have a picture of it with the panasports
  4. well i figured, almost anything is. but are there any kits especially for them, like a nitrous plate? or would i have to do some customized drilling into the manifold?
  5. i used to work at a tire shop and for a passanger car like a z it was usually just 80ftlbs you cant go wrong it wont snap a stud or anything. or atleast it shouldnt...
  6. not sure if this belongs here but i thought it might because it is a power-adder. has any one used juice on tripple webbers and is it possible for a reasonable price. i did a quick search with nothing to boot.
  7. yeah painting that grease cap does make a good diffrence ill probably do that as for the sportmax 006 i dont know they look to modern of a design for me.
  8. i dont know i really like the all black ones with the red stripe but thats because i hate polished and chromed things
  9. yeah, they just look clean im really debating buying them right now
  10. thought these wheels looked pretty clean and am considering them. anyone else have these wheels with color scheme on there Z. if i got these what size tires could i run with and without ZG flares that i plan on getting in the future. and was windering if anyones found a solution with the front center caps not fitting with the grease cap on the front bearings. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/16-8-XXR-513-Black-Rims-wheel-Datsun-240z-280z-Scion-Xb_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ43955QQihZ023QQitemZ360086435397
  11. hahah i actually have the crank already i got lucky and bought it a while ago but my mind runs in circles for what engine to build in my Z
  12. is it possible to have 300whp on a 3.1L N/A carburated z engine without going to robello or another engine builder. im going to be building the engine at saddle back college and so i will ahve a machine shop at my finger tips so thats not a problem. ive heard of a lot of estimated numbers for 3.1L's but no true dynoed numbers. has anyone on here done it? and what parts are needed (rods, pistons, head) i was thinking of the pauter T-beam rod http://www.atomicspeedware.com/rodnispaut.htm and im not sure what compression KA24 piston. and yes not to be a smart a$$, i have been looking for info. i know turbo is a good option and was planning on a 3.1l turbo but i dont have the funds. thanks Matt
  13. im talking about a head not a whole block. i was just gonna clean it up and throw it on my l24 just for a weekend project
  14. so yeah tomorrow morning im going to make a quick trip to the junkyard to get some parts for my friends trooper and thought if the oppurtunity is there why not get something for my self. what would be the best stock L series head and cam to put ontop of an l24 that has i think the e88 head with a header and exhuast just for a little added performance till i do my engine build
  15. yeah i know about the dohc, the thing is internally its going to be strong with new parts because i need an engine to build. that and building a 350hp motor and running it then knowing ill have to take it out later would just piss me off haha
  16. yeah ive actually been there and talked to you guys before when i was thinking of an sr20 swap. how late are you guys open because my shop closes at 6. maybe ill stop by on my lunch break one day.
  17. haha yeah im thinking about taking a trip to the junkyard soon to see what i can find.
  18. wow some real good info and i think that they help justify why im planning KA on a budget. he sad thing bout me is im constantly changing my mind on what engine to put into my z. the possibilities are endless thats why love my Z
  19. yeah i was thinking i would buy the cross member from mckinney, http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/products i havnt heard anything bad about them so i was gonna buy that crossmember. a ka24 i can pick up a whole lot cheaper then an sr20. that and i need the motor to build for a class and the sr20 internals just seemed more expensive as well. i like the top mount intercooler but im just curious as to how much airflow you'll actually get verses a FMIC. and amoung all other things im trying to do something that isnt done often, or atleast not that ive seen. i actually live right by vildini and ill probably swing by there some time to ask some questions and see what they think or any info they can give me to help me along the way. im a technician at a shop myself so i plan on doing alot of the work myself which will cut down on costs as well.
  20. ok so the ka trans would just be the way to go especially on a budget. so does anyone know if a KA would fit directly on sr20 motor mounts?
  21. ok long story short i have my 1972 240z in the garage. i go to college and am going to take an engine building class next fall. i was going to build a l31 and turbo or twin turbocharge it. i already have the l28 and the crank to stroke it. but i was thinking of other CHEAP unique options to make large power (between 400-500hp) and thought that since sr20s are constantly dropped into 240sx's couldnt i get sr20 mounts for my Z and drop a KA into it. I can pick one up super cheap. internals arnt bad price wise then i would turbo it. im sure someone has done this but i did a quick search and didnt find any pics. so would this be a good budget build or what? and are there any 6 speed transmissions that could be hooked up to a ka24? i love my 6 speed in my RSX-s (which im selling) that extra gear is just fun
  22. not to say your a liar but are you positive? wow, now im back to square one. so does anyone have a 280zx turbo manifold i can have ahah, ive seen one other aftermarket turbo manifold for the L series car i think by lonewolf. anyone know of any other companys that make them?
