  1. havnt even seen the check button to be honest, hahah i guess i should take some time to learn the car before i start driving. my 240z is very simple so i figured the 280zx would be the same. but man it has power mirrors and windows its pretty deck out compared to the 240z. ill try to take a look over the whole car and learn everything tomorrow.

So i just started driving my 83 280zxt today (since i hydroplaned on bald rear tires and hit the wall on the 5 freeway with my rsx type s this morning) anyways there is this center light below the speedo and tach thats an orangish color but i cant seem to make out what the writing says? its really just an orange blur with some black dots... anyways its not a digital dash if that help. if anyone could tell me what its for that would be great. thanks in advance Matt

  4. rb swap into an s130 wouldnt be smog legal. the 3.1L strokers are very expensive to build even when doing your own machine work. search and youll find you need an ld28 crank l24 rods and Ka24 pistons for the bottom end.

I have that rust bucket! its an 1983 turbo, it looks pretty good till you see underneath the car or start jacking it up by the pinch seem and the car starts to crush itself. oh well its my new Daily Driver till i get my 240z on the road. dont expect pictures! im happy to say then the 280zx will become my parts car because im greedy and want to turbo my 3.1L after ive driven it for a couple years. just put in new injectors and had a clutch put in as well, and she runs like a top. if only some one would trade me a p90 for my p90a... i also had an 82 280zx but it went under the knife like a year ago for parts.
  7. So Im looking into ignition now for my 3.1L. Im aware mallory makes one, as well as kameari, and then theres the turbo dizzy no idea how its better then a regular one, and thats about all ive ever come across for distributors. Im not really interested in distributorless ignition. I actually called a place near me called EPWI where im able to get parts quite cheap and the fellow i talked to said the mallory unilite was $359.00 vs MSAs price of $600+ for the same unit. he also said he had another dual point distributor for the L6 but he couldnt remember the name of the part. since Im not in the market for buying one just yet i didnt make him go look it up. Im just curious if any of you know of any other distributors out there. thanks, Matt
  8. hows the timing, and or intake manifold gasket. otherwise id say your right on the carbs.
  9. buy her a vibrator! a really intense one. as much as you think she wont enjoy it she will... they all do!
  10. oh no i wont be skimping on the head, pocket porting, new valve train with possible oversized valves and a reground cam with specs from the MSA stage 2 cam (streetable power range) is what's in store for the head already have a 6 to 1 header and for fuel delivery thats up in the air for now and depends on how much money i have but plan on it being carb'd.
  11. gonna wait till i get my head built to see how thin a headgasket i can fit with the N42 i have thats decked and possibly 1mm oversized valves. the motor is NA with hyperutectic full floating pistons possibly later ill build a p90 and turbo it later on but for now the plan is carb'd NA
  12. yeah i called ITM and they wouldnt tell me for some odd reason. i measures all the pistons and they all came to 3.530 in give or take a thousanth got the info to add .002 in for ring clearance so thats what im going to go with. no i would never try to beadhone the block. Ive got two hones to choose from an older sunnen and a brand new rottler that is supposed to be ready for use next week. trying to hold off to use the rottler. thanks for the help!
  13. So I finally got my pistons actually a while ago they are from ITM Engine components and are full floating standard size with a slight dish. Part # RY6426-STD if anyone’s interested. My problem is that the stock bore on the ka24 is 89.002 mm and when I measure the piston about the middle of the skirt measures 89.4 mm also the pistons came with know information on what size to hone to or anything of the sort. So my question is what I should hone to since obviously it wont is a standard ka24de bore. Just curious on your guys input. I will be calling the company I got the pistons from later.

  15. hahha i make my girlfriend fetch the tools i need and take the bolts and nuts or w/e off my hands. its quite useful when your underneath the car. atleast shes willing to help right?

  17. i actually have an rsx type-s its a 2002 so the pattern is a little diffrent (cleaner looking in my opinon) and they are awsomely comfortable and really hold you in well. if you decide to go through with this and possibly make a new slider system for them so they are shorter in the car let me know im interested. but yeah they are very comfy i think about it all the time and think i could just live in them. and yes you could easily reduce weight by taking the side are bag out.
  18. i was thinking about this idea myself just a stock turbo manifold, 4 barrel intake and a holley carb. seems like it would be easier for myself to put together then all that efi crap. i have af ew extra blocks so when i have the money maybe ill experiment with the idea. keep us updated
  19. I must say i think youve lost about 25 horsepower with those FORD tail lights. but on the other hand you could get about 5 NOS stickers to get all your horse power back! just messing with you. i think it looks really clean keep up the good fab work!

  21. deff more expensive costal, i saw 3.33 for premium but that is at a gas station that is usually more expensive.
  22. yeah i knew that a machine shop would have to do that, my crank needs to be reground so when i have them do that ill take the rods in as well.
  23. woohoo! ok so lets see if you get this one. to make it a full floating piston and rod setup i would have to bore the l24 rod then press a bushing into the rod and then bore the bushing to the same diameter size on the small end of the ka24 rod then use the ka24 piston and then im full floating? i have no idea how but that would make the most sense in my mind.
  24. i think i get what yor saying, the pin is pressed into the rod as in stuck and wont move on the rod but the piston itself isnt pressed but floating and can move a little back and forth on the pin but cant move enough to cause damage because the pin is still stuck on the rod. let me know if i get what your saying.
