  1. Yeah, I asked him some questions also and his answers were very vague. Doesnt seem to really care if he sells the parts or not
  2. Great! Thats two for sure (including me.) Lets get the word out to anyone else you know. Thanks!
  3. The armrest should be no problem b/c it can be made off the door and put on if you want it. Also, I made a set of panels a while back and just mounted my original armrest back on the new panel. Follow this link and scroll down about halfway to see what the 280 z panel with armrest and without looked like. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105320&page=7
  4. As far as I can tell so far the price would be in the same range as the ones he made for the 280z crowd. (about 230) He does make arm rests for the panels but what other options are you refering too? Like extra speakers? I'm sure that any option could be explored but remember that making a mold takes alot of time to do right and if you want to change something you have to make another mold. Once you change the original you cant just change it back. So lets say you want two speakers for example. Now another set of door panels has to be prepared, speaker mount formed onto surface and covered with glass/resin, finished to perfection then a mold taken from that pc. Only then can you produce useable pcs. from that mold. So what did you have in mind (options?)
  5. Ok, here's the deal. I know someone from this forum who will build custom door panels for our beloved 130's!! What we are looking for is interest from all you ZX owners as well as a commitment. There was a thread started a while back about 280z interior door panels with speaker provisions and a lot of people seemed interested. Yet, when the time came to actually purchase the item, many people backed out. The price was awesome as well as the quality of craftsmanship. But for some reason the finished product didn’t move very well. I noticed that there was some interest in getting these made for the ZX. I am one who would love to own a set. If we can gather 10 (at least) people who are interested in having a set of these made and are willing to put up a small deposit for the work and materials involved in the project then we will move ahead. If anyone here is interested please IM me or post here.
  6. Tell 'em to hurry!! You've got abunch a fella's waiting to see the finished product here
  7. Didnt know there was going to be one. When is it so I can make plans?
  8. Try painting the foam with ordinary cheap latex paint before you lay the glass down. It works great! Also you can get foam board 2lb or 4lb density very cheap and it wont melt at all. I buy it from a local fiberglass shop in 4x8 sheets 2inches thick for 18 bucks. It shaves alot easier also. you can sand and contour the stuff like bondo, only easier. Its just like the pour foam that you buy in two parts and mix together, only it comes in block form. I believe its called "closed cell foam". I've sprayed thinner directly on the stuff and it had no effect.
  9. I got an alarm the next day. Theres always someone out there who isnt willing to work for what they have:fmad: I stopped working on the Z for a while after that. (broken heart) But now I'm back at it like never before. Just so I'm clear, are you talking zx panels here? If so,get ready to ship me a set. I'll add more to it but it'll save me the time of making new ones myself.
  10. Here are the ones I made for my zx. They had another set of speakers above and a little further back. But someone broke into my car and tore up the whole interior ripping them out. (Along with 1,200.00 worth of other audio equipment!) The crack across the top is from the pressure of them pulling the other speakers off. The color is just tinted primer. The other pic is of a consol from a suburban that I mounted to the roof. I also relocated my power window switches to it.
  11. I made a set of custom fiberglass door panels for my 83 zx using he original panels as a starting point. I love the way they look but I keep kicking the damn speaker every time I get in and out of the car!
  12. Thanks!! I feel really worthless now! I've had my Z (83 zx) since 2000. I do custom paint and body for a living and I'm no where near that far along with mine! I gotta go. I've got work to do on someone elses car!!!
  13. Where in florida do you live? I'm in Ocala.
  14. Thats b/c if he tells you, you can just by pass him and he doesnt make any money..lol I'm making one for my 83 zx right now. ALOT OF WORK!!
  15. I know a guy here in florida looking for a good body for his engine. What do you want for the whole car? (minus your already listed items of course)
  16. I need both front fenders (and that rear diff. if you ever wanna sell it?)
  17. 8 quarts?! Are you painting a whole fleet of cars? I use Diamont (RM Brand) base coats and I can paint a whole full size car (jambs and all) with three quarts. You have to remember that you are giong to reduce the paint so you end up with almost twice the sprayable material than you buy. Most base paints are reduced by anywhere from 2 to 1 thru 1 to1 ratio. If you buy 8 quarts (two gallon) of base and then reduce it 2/1 you end up with three gallons of color! Thats ALOT of paint. Even if they require no reducer as in the case of some lacquer paints, you still shouldnt need two gallons to paint any car.
  18. Now there is a first car to remember!! Dont ever let it go man. Simply a clean and beautiful car:mrgreen:
  19. There are about 6 different steps to this spray job. Starting with the sealer coat then the black (three coats),then the flames are done in white and transparent white. After wich you highlight the flames with whatever color candy you want the flames to be. (I chose blue but you can make them any color.) Then you put a couple of coats of the blue candy over the whole thing, let it tack up and start in with the clear. Start to finish took about three hours, not including prep. If you have about $500.00 and some paitience you can learn to air brush pretty easily. Thanks for the compliment on the car. here are some more pics of the car after some clear was applied. I included one of me replacing the heater core and evaporator just to show how well I know my car...lol Almost forgot. There is also two coats of blue metal flake added in with the candy coats!
  20. OK, here's mine. I just did the paint this past christmas. I've owned it since 2000. I just couldnt find time to get the paint done because I was to busy painting everyone elses car! I'm making time now . I'm building a shop at my house right now and the first car I'm doing is my 130. It's an 83 with no real engine mods (YET) I've been making a one off body kit for it piece by piece for a long time now so it's time to put it on. I'm making my own because I havn't seen a body kit for the 130 that does it any justice. I'm sure all you 130 owners know what I mean. I have more pics but they need to be resized and its late so I'll put some more up tomorrow. Hope you all like it.
  21. Sorry to quote the whole thing with pictures and all but I cant figure out how to do a (partial quote). Any help on that would be great! I was wondering if those are 300 zx fenders and older 280 z headlight buckets?
  22. Any chance I could pay you to build me a set? lol Not joking though. I just dont have the time to do it myself.
  23. One thing I can tell you for sure is that all 928 parts are VERY expensive. I have been helping a friend repair a 928s for the last two yrs and my advice is only buy it if you plan on keeping it for yourself. If you plan on repairing and then reselling for profit the parts alone will cost more than you can get out of it. If you do decide to buy it I have alot of used and new parts suppliers that I've found and will share the info. Another thing is a 928 is not a daily driver. Not unless you just have more money than you know what to do with. They always have little funnny electric problems. On the up side when they are running right,DAMN WHAT A RIDE!
