Just read your converter choices, Coan, ATI, both very good. Don't even think about GER. You would be better off laying your balls on an anvil and pounding them flat with a hammer than getting a GER converter.
The 350 will go right in where the 283 was. Same mounts, driveshaft ect. As far as the distributor vacume advance can goes, you have to pull the dist. and turn the oil pump shaft to get the vacume advance moved around
50K + and it better run for that kind of money. I just got a deal on a new set of valve springs and they were $312.00 OUCH, that go fast stuff ain't cheap.
"Ok first of all is 448 ci possible from a smallblock¿" 4.155 bore with a 4.125 stroke will give you a 447.45 so yea its possible and has been done before. With a stock block your going to have a lot of grinding. With that much stroke you are better off to go to a aftermarket block with raised cam and spread pan rails. But for 900 bucks, what can you say. You can always sell off the parts and make a buck or two. Once you run it the price drops like a rock from new parts to once run parts. I would like to see something with that much stroke with some -12 Brodix heads.
Damm,I just saw this. Sorry to hear about your trouble. Not all women are that nasty but there are a bunch of them. I have been lucky so far, got married in 1976 and she still puts up with my sorry ass. The Z will be a good project for you and your son now that his step mom is out of the picture.

A little oil on the track will ruin your day in a hurry. I got the HV 1801 intake with the 18X heads. With a 94" wb things get out of hand pretty quick. Going to strip it back down to the frame, replace the top front cage bar and have the frame powdercoated and stick it back together. There is only 19" between the main loop and the top front bar so there is no room for a funny car cage and still getting into the car. I have the rest of the bars for the new cirt but The funny car cage will make it dam near impossable to get in and out so I am stuck at the 8.50 cut off. The thing that pisses me off about the whole thing is that a car in my lane before me was all over the lane and they didn't check out the track, if no one wrecks send down the next pair. The Goodguys were trying to beat the rain at the Fuel and Gas Finals and my little roof trip was the result of them hurrying up the event. Scrubed off 120mph by putting it on the shinney side, a wopping 38mph upside down.
I don't know how much HP or TQ its putting out. I have never had my junk on a dyno, just run it down at the track. I did a little clean up on the heads, cut a little off the deck and put in some 2.15 & 1.60 titanium valves. Cam is .736 .720 282 290 @ .050 108 lsa . Converter goes 6100, 2 step it at 5800 and shift at 7800 go through at 8100. It will run 8.50's at my home track and 8.40's at Sacramento.
Hey Dr Hunt, I don't run sb2.2 stuff, wish I did though. Just a set of 18X brodix heads here. There is a lot of used Nascar stuff around though. I just did a custom grind cam but didn't go for the 4 7 swap on my 414 sbc. Make my own headers, a straight 2" tube with a 3 1/2" collector.

Its not a 383 at .040 over but thats another story. Dr. Hunt, you don't need turbo's efi and alky to run 8's. One carb and gas will do it in a Z. Just playing around to get to 100 on the post deal. All you boy's have fun now.
Just checked the notes on my rear end specs. Running a 15X14 rim with 3 1/2" bs and a hoosier 32X14.5-15 housing is 24 1/2" flange to flange 30" 4 link brackets on 18". Tires are tucked in real nice.
Go to http://www.SEMAShow.com I registered early and it was only 10 bucks. It's like Disneyland for car guys. I plan on going every year. And like they say, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. There is a lot going on other than the show. Now I just need some help to stay up for 3 straight days.
Go for the glide. Less chance of a traction problem, lighter and simpler. They work fine on the street and strip. Don't worry about having enough gear to get out of the hole with a glide. I have run 60ft times as low as 1.15 in my glide equiped Z car.
Your right about the little dampners. I run the 6.325" ATI dampner on my sbc and have fooled a few people on the engine displacement. Wow, I didn't know a 283 could run that fast.
JE makes a extreme duty 23 degree inverted dome piston that are specially designed for forced induction and nitrous applications. They have a -22.0 cc dome volume, a 4.030 piston weighs 515 grams. They also have contact reduction groves and use spiro locks.
Any Hybridz people going to the SEMA show in November? I'll be there checking out the latest and greatest Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Got to get home for the Fuel and Gas Finals Friday, Saturday and Sunday to run B/Gas in my Z car.
