  1. A thousand H.P. in a Z, we are looking at S/E racing, 7.90 index. This should be interesting. Time to change the timeslips order.
  2. i have slicks now on stock rims but they are very small What size are they, and what rear gear are you running? Stick or auto trans?
  3. Awh, come on Dr. Hunt, show me some love.LOL. We just scored another bullit for the altered with billet alen Johnson heads and its just a 440 inch motor. Was run in a nostalgia class till they out lawed it. Guess they didn't have hemi short blocks with AJ billet chevy heads in the good old days.Badges, we don't need no stinking badges, We just want to have some fun with it, don't care about classes. The old motor with the 6-71 should go hi 6's. This new one with a screw blower should be in the 5's. Just picked up a impact nitro helmet, going to have to see about a hans device now.
  4. Does this mean I will be able to list my 32 Bantam altered?
  5. A loose converter and a low rear gear always helps. My glide has a 1.89 first and with a 4.86 rear gear along with a 6100 rpm launch will get you 1.16 60ft. times.
  6. My Z with a TH350 went 10.90's. My Z with a TH400 went 9.40's. My Z with a glide went 8.40's. However they were 3 diffrent Z's with 3 diffrent engines and 3 diffrent chassis, but you get the idea.
  7. Just had to vote for a SBC, don't know why, it just seemed like the right thing to do.
  8. "80496 Holley huh? really think this 6 liter can make use of 950 CFM? I might cam it in the future, but still seems like a lot of carb. Plus I am a little nervous putting a carb with no choke at all on a street car. How well does something like that start in say 40 degree weather?" It doesn't flow 950, Don't worry about a cold start, give it a couple of pumps and it will light off.
  9. When my Z first went into the 10's , tech jumped my a$$ and thats when I did my back halfed Z
  10. I think he should put the biggest tire he can find under it and gear it for that tire. On the altered we have 16X16 double beadlocks with a 34.5 X 17 X 16 MT tire. Changing the gear to a 4.56 should put it just under 9 grand through the lights.
  11. Rust, what is rust? Living in California I have heard of this rust thing you are talking about but have never seen it.
  12. Spool with a 4.86 rear gear
  13. WHAT, no one else going give this poor guy some specs for a nine inch in his Z ???
  14. 9" specs on my rear end are 30" flange to flange. 24 1/2" housing end to end. centered pinion. 18" 4 link brackets outside to outside. This is with a 14.5 X 32 X 15 hoosier on a 15X 14 weld wheel with a 3 1/2" backspacing. Rear wheel wells streached but stock body width.
  15. Big pulley goes on the bottom, little pulley goes on the top.
  16. Oh yea, its all in fun.LOL Ya got to dangle that carrot in front of the horse to get it to move. Looking foward to the first 8.45 or quicker time slip on here. Should be soon knowing the guys on the board, a little more spray or boost and they will be there. Oh well, its getting near my bed time, you know how us old guys are LOL.
  17. WoW, all these young guys picking on some old guy with a old school sbc. I have had Z cars since 1970, got the second one in town. I have gone through street Z's semi street Z's and drag race Z's. Picking on some poor old guy that doesn't under stand turbo's nitrous and all that other go fast stuff. Hey, when I grew up aluminum and titanium were your friends, I think they still are. I think it is great that you guys have dailey driver Z cars in the 9's. A fast Z car is a good thing. The easy way to a fast car is to make it light and be able to hook up what power you have. I have spent a lot of time under cars sorting out 4 link and shock adjustments. How else do you think I can get my suckie little small block to run like it does with out the power adders. Time to read my AARP magazine and look at retirement homes. When you guys put the woop a$$ on me I guess I'll have to look for some better heads.
  18. Cylinder heads and cam choice there are the key. What rpm do you launch at and what do you shift at? 18X brodix heads 2.15 titanium intakes 1.60 titanium exhausts. A little back yard clean up on the heads. Cam is a custom grind comp cams roller, 282 @.050 on the intake, lobe rev 1844 290 @ .050 on the exhaust, lobe xcx 1962 . ground on a 108 lsa . .736 lift on the intake, .720 lift on the exhaust. .900 base circle. Launch at 6100 rpm, shift at 7800 rpm go through the lights at 8100 rpm. 4.86 rear gear 32X14.5 hoosier with a 1.89 first gear in the glide. Thats where the good 60 foot time come from.
  19. If you guys like 3000 pound cars I suggest you race camaros. My street Z with a iron small block and 4 speed is 2500 pounds with half a tank of gas.
  20. Getting more in the new timeslips section, up to 18 now.
  21. The time slip data base was just reinstated about a week ago. Everyone needs to repost their times on the new data base if they haven't done so already.
  22. Thanks for putting it back up Super Dan.. Hey Dr. Hunt, you need to up date your time now that you are a single digit E.T guy.
