240zV8, my brother has an 03 Mini Cooper S in that Dark silver color. Even in the sunlight it still maintains that dark shade. I think it can be a good candidate for a Z.

My Stanley contractor gloves are great, they have magnets built into the index fingers. Not made for automotive purposes, but they do the job, and were 8 bucks at WalMart.

Hey guys, I just got a 1971 240z on friday as a car to work on. So far I have fixed a broken front headlight, seatbelts, interior lights, door locks, and the windshield wipers. But yesterday I got pulled over for speeding and got lucky with a warning. I want to fix this speedometer next. I'm only 16 years old, I have ordered "How to Restore a Datsun 240z" and the Haynes service manual but I would like to know what to look for and troubleshoot to fix the speedometer. As for the Tachometer, I don't know if I can still use the factory gauge because the previous owner installed an MSD electronic ignition system. A local 240z mechanic told me that the stock tachometer cannot accept the new ignition system, and that the tach has to be electrical not mechanical. Is there any truth to this? Forgive my ignorance, I am only 16 and still learning. I plan on reading both books from start to finish as soon as I receive them, and as soon as I become a senior w/ half days, I plan on taking some automotive classes at the local community college. Hey guys, I did try and do a search about weight reduction but didn't find the info I wanted. I might buy a 1973 240z but the plate on the drivers side door says it's weight is 2900lb's. I'm wondering what is so drastically different between the 70-72 240z that it weighs almost 500lb's less. The car does have the stereo and air conditioner removed so it should have a little weight loss. Besides getting lighter seats, stripping the interior, and getting lighter wheels, is there anything that's specific on the 240z that would give a significant reduction in weight? The car is going to be a canyon carver so I want to keep it as light as possible. If there are any helpful threads about this topic that I didn't find it would be greatly appreciated if you post them. Thanks in advance, -Armand

If you were to downshift in a regular automatic wouldn't the torque converter just slip until the engine's rpm's matches with the cars speed? Is it really that bad?

Really noob question, never knew too much/had experience with body work. What would be the point of folding the inner lip and tacking it to the fender? Why not just cut the fender where you would end up tacking it and then just paint the bare metal area. Sorry, don't know squat about body work.
