  1. Are both of you guys running the B/W t-5? I know Jersey is. I am getting ready to install my B/W t-5 and R200 with 3.54 gears. I don't have a driveshaft at all for this setup. What did you guys do in the driveshaft department. I was hoping not to have a complete shaft built up, but looks like I will have to.
  2. I just wanted to make sure my info was in line with other peoples, and it sounds like it is. If you want to run sequential it will be good for the group to have another different setup. Let us know if you get it running that way
  3. Maybe this isn't what you want to discuss on this thread, but since your asking about batch vs sequential.... Everything I have read comparing the two shows that from mid rpm up they perform the same. At lower rpm and idle the sequential has the edge because it delivers the fuel at the time it is needed, not letting it pile up at the back of the valve like batch(I suppose this helps atomization because as the valve is opening the air is more turbulent and the sequential only sprays at this time?). Once a certain rpm is reached the piling up of fuel doesn't matter because the time between opening valves is very small. For all practical purposes the valve is opening so fast and the injector duty cycle is so high, the sequential and batch perform the same.
  4. I looked on mine and I know what you are talking about. The little piping from the j-pipe goes to several things and one of them is what appears to be a check valve on fourth intake runner. I am also curious what the purpose of this is.
  5. gives a new meaning to "kick it in the a$$"
  6. Seems like a 50/50 balance of power and ugly. I'd send them a million and tell them to keep the car and just send me the engine.
  7. depends on who is welding. I have seen a lot of flux core welding that is fantastic, but yeah mine looks like crap too.
  8. Oh yes I do! Giving hay away, yeah that figures Thats too bad because we could have told her that it cost the same and then put the money into the z.
  9. So this weekend we are getting a semi load of hay for the wifes 5 horses. At around $3500 for the hay, I figure 400hp for the z car is not too exspensive. Considering the hay is an annual exspense. Now let her tell me how much money I am sinking into the z car
  10. moby the van of course.... 68 chevy van
  11. I got mine from a z junkyard, but they were going out of business. $300 for engine and BW 5spd. Not too shabby
  12. I was just looking for a estimated spool for those sizes and cubic inches. Not nissan related in any way. Just wondering if one would spool at 4K, one at 5K, 6K etc... or never
  13. I have the book maximum boost and have read through a lot of it, but I was wondering if there may be a rule of thumb for judging spool up by looking at just the turbine A/R and engine displacement. I realize this would be a rough estimation not including wheel trims and bearing differences, etc. But for example a T04B with turbine A/R of .80, .90, 1.00, 1.10 on a displacement of 180 cubic inches. Is there a estimate on the rpm that would spool each turbo?
  14. I will be using MS on my 240 turbo, but don't wait on me for results. I've got way too many projects going right now. Now I found a 3.54 diff so it looks like I will be swapping in my BW T-5 and R200 diff next. That will require new driveshaft and custom tranny mounts. And I am still trying to work on the V8 car so....
  15. I thought the consensus on LSD diffs was that you do not need one for straight line racing. BTW, I am also going to run BW T5 and 3.54 R200, I hope I can get into that range at the quarter.
  16. I weighed the R180 plus mustache bar plus driveshaft from my 72 240z and all three together weighed right at 80lbs. Weighed them all together because I dropped the whole thing together and didn't want to seperate just to weigh them. My R200 LSD with stub shafts(for u-jointed halfshafts) and nothing else weighed right about 80lbs.
  17. I agree, that car is a work of art. It is my inpiration.
  18. go back to twin turbos and do it like this: http://www.hwknights.com/davec_84porsche.html
  19. Just throwing out some things to get advice from you guys. For setting up a budget turbo sbc I was thinking(from looking around at part prices) that using a pre-87 tpi intake may be the best budget option. This engine will target 450hp and most likely use T3 turbos similar to the stock 280zxt. Edelbrock has the victor intake manifold for injectors at $250. Then add fuel rails, carb to throttle body adapter to help with turbo piping, throttle body and price is getting up there not inlcuding the rest of the EFI stuff, injectors, controller, fuel pump, etc. So it looks like it may be cheaper to pick up tpi with fuel rails already on it, throttle body already there as well. Throttle body may be optional, I suppose I could make a simple adapter to get a ford throttle body on the tpi setup. The problem on the victor type intake is that the adapter gets more complex because of the 90 degree bend required or some kind of box on top of a throttle body if the throttle body sits directly on the single plane intake. Is there anything inherent that may be a problem with the chevy tpi for turbo engine in this power range that I am overlooking?
  20. Here is some ford info I found, all these used T3 Exhaust Turbine Sizes: 83-84 GT Turbo .60 & .63 A/R 83-84 Capri RS Turbo .60 & .63 A/R 84-86 XR7 Cougars .60 & .63 A/R 84-85 SVO .60 & .63 A/R 85.5-86 SVOs .60 & .48 A/R 83-86 TC .60 & .63 A/R 87-88 TC IHI Turbos Early 85 XR4TI .60 & .63 A/R 85.5-89 XR4TI .60 & .48 A/R
  21. Searching around on the web for info and thought maybe you guys could help. I thought it would be helpful for pick and pull trips to put together a list of cars and the turbos that came on them, compressor trims and turbine ratios. Maybe you guys already have links to this info, that would be great. 81-83 280zx used garrett T3 with .60 a/r compressor and .63 a/r turbine (is that correct?) What about dodge turbo 2.2L lasers and daytonas Looks like 80's turbo fords may have used the same turbo as 280zx What other cars used the same T3 as the 280zx?
  22. You guys know already that I am putting the Megasquirt in my 240z turbo in the next month or so. Well, another guy that I have worked with for years (that is very sharp with cars and electronics) is also going to order MS parts with me and put it in his 60's corvette. So we should end up with a good working knowledge for putting Megasquirt on sbc or L6 engines. Stay tuned, no pun intended
  23. Damn, those free web servers make me mad, glad we can host pictures here, thanks SuperDan
