  1. hellz yeah ^ i have the datsport cross member with 77 dodge dart mounts ($4 a peice woot!) those mounts are like a third of the thickness of stock ka mounts......with the coil overs though my oil pan is like 4 inches from the ground lol (not like the suspension moves any haha, it's like pushing on a brick wall) and i also made spacers to lower my 1" sway bar a tad to clear the pan. it's working out real well. everything except that 3" thick griffin radiator....now i have no room for my front mount.....rawwrrrr!!   2. has anyone heard that the eagle rods were made and spec'd THEN the arps were pressed in there thus leaving the circle where the rod-crank bearing sits a bid distorted. that's something i heard a machine shop say and was wondering if anyone else has seen/heard something similar. Dave
  3. well, i've been looking into the brian crower 2.6L stroker kit (that takes care of the bottom end, pistons/rods/crank) + stg 3 cams,springs,retainers,and oversized valves all from BC. it's not that bad of a build imo, but i know i can get 500-600 without stroking the thing. however the stroker crank is fully counterweighted which is in it's favor. and i'm looking into the borg warner s262 turbo as my weapon of choice. as it stands now, monday i'm dropping the 510 off to get the cage, z32 rear end, z32 tranny on the ka, welding up a good brace to have something solid to strap it to our dyno with, and getting the stock gas tank modified so there's a bowl + a sump at the bottom so i don't run into fuel starvation issues when it's on the road course. i also just got a b210 booster + bump steer spacers for it. it's coming together, i love that thing. the ka in it now has developed a MOTIVATIONAL rod knock from it's 240,000+ miles of wonderful service in 3 of my friend's 240sx's lol so once i sling the rod through the side of the block, i'll have a bigger reason to get the built motor up in there. i'll keep ya posted and i'll see if i can't take some pics of it's current set up to kind of log this journey of Datsun supremacy lol Dave @ Lethal Injection Motorsports http://www.lethalmotorsports.com
  4. should be fine for what you wanna do with it. rocker arm stoppers are your friend. doesn't really matter what u put in a 510, they're so light anything'll make it fun as hell to drive. i could put a 28/71 on the ka now, run 7-10psi on stock internals and probably make somewhere in the high 2's - 300 range and scare the ♥♥♥♥ outta myself. but with me it's either stock or 2000hp so i'd rather just do it right once and pray i can get a year outta the motor, beating it's ass everyday. lol Dave =]

  6. very sexy. i have to measure under the core support in front of the radiator and see how much room i have for a little front mount....if i don't have much room i may have to go water-air intercooler... Dave =]
  7. correct, the injectors have 12volts on one leg, and the ecu gives the ground pulses to the other wire on the injectors at it gets it's references of when to fire them from the cam angle sensor. that ground pulse from the ecu to the injector is called "noid" signal. Dave
  8. make sure the orange start signal wire is wired up. it's on the "dash plug." which is the little white plug that has a harness about 8" long right off of the ecu plug. that dash plug also has your tach signal Y/R, speed signal Y/G, coolant temp L/B (L=blue), park neutral sw G/O. gl, Dave

  10. lol i like how u said "it should be fast for another 8 months before i breaks again" = the story of my life >_< so far i've got 6 grand in the 510 walboro 255lph inline fuel pump, 1" front sway bar, rear quicker bar, 280z front suspension /w 4 piston toyota brakes, wilwood rear disc brakes, and old tired ass 240,000+ ka24de that i got from a friend for free front coil overs /w 225lb springs and camber/caster plates. i have a front strut bar off a 240sx, the bolt pattern is the same but i need to shorten the bar to make it work next on the list *rear coil overs 200lb springs /w 16 way adjustable dampening *300zx tt lsd (3.69 ratio) in the back and shortening the cv's *300zx na 5 speed tranny + uber driveshaft for it *9 second roll cage and possibly stitch welding the chassis up (i really don't wanna twist this chassis, it's too pretty lol) *sissy gas tank with a cheesy fuel pump so i don't run out of fuel when cornering.....(or doing wheelies ) that should take care of the suspension/brakes/drivetrain then after a couple sidework motor swaps *77 Rabbit 22x13" aluminum racing rad + FAL slim fans ($400 for all @ summit) *aem ems *i already have some gsxr1000 individual throttle bodies, i'll get a plenum made for it, and get those on the ka's intake runners *GT35R (i've decided to go with that *I already have a log manifold /w t3 flange and 38mm external wg flange in it *Tial 38mm i already have *i have 550cc injectors but i may go bigger *9:1 wiseco pistons *Eagle rods *Commetic HG *ARP head/main studs *Brian Crower stg 2 cams /w springs & retainers *Port the head *possibly a 50-125 shot of laughy gas *i can't afford another OS Geiken super single, so i'll probably go with a clutch master sprung 6 puck *3, maybe 3.5" exhaust *i'm indecisive about water-air or just all air fmic, i just don't have much room up in the front *Blitz Bov times 2 and that's my recipe for this Datsun go-kart, that thing's a blast to drive with ~110rwhp, i get beat by a 1-2 cars vs my friend's with stock sr'd 240's so with 500rwhp it's gonna be a blast. my goal is to have it all done and painted by the end of the year.... i'll keep you guy's posted....or just post some vids when my "talk" turns into a tangible street car thx manny =] any more ka-t guy's?   11. i sold my 280z and i'm in love with my 72 510. i have a ka24de in it at the moment. i have gsxr1000 itb's i plan on putting on it and making a plenum. but in the meantime i'm beefing up the suspension/drivetrain/brakes. my goal: 450-500rwhp my line of reasoning is that ka with 20 over pistons, rods, bearings, head gasket, arp studs (cams are a possibility but still indecisive) should be able to support that goal. and being oversized it should make the displacement comparable to an rb25....with that as my thought foundation. i will probably be going with a gt35r or a gt30/76r + nitrous (for the quicker spool to the 400 range then the extra shot for back up to reach my hp # goal. was just curious to hear from other ka-t people on what their set ups are with what kind of numbers they're making to give me an idea of what some been there done that options are, thx, Dave =]
  12. based on a friend's rb25 35r.... should be around 500rwhp@19psi on pump gas and should be able to get you close if not right at 600 with race gas and 24-26psi

Che works in parts @ Tacoma nissan in Texas. he has access to the japanese cars and can look up/order parts for them, and see if the part numbers cross reference with anything that came in usa so you can hit up any nissan dealer near you and pick up the piece you're looking for........ i also have a lot of rb parts....i have the 4 bolt oil filter bracket that bolts to the block that did not have an oil cooler with coolant lines going onto it, it's just the bracket and the filter. the oil filter screws right on that...can you screw your oil cooler spacer onto that, then screw your filter onto the spacer?   15. ^^ lol got the 510 driving, i just got back from my shop putting exhaust on it...lol it was fun in the neighborhood with just a down pipe i'm gonna put a power brake booster on it from a late 70's b210 i think it is, and rob the 4 piston toyota brakes and suspension off the 280z. the 510's got hella negative camber. the ka's front crank seal is leaking like a siv so i'll be addressing that after work but all in all she's a little peppy thing, i dunno bout a 13.5 but it's pretty fun to drive....nothing like 400rwhp LOL but it'll do for now. i sold the turbo, bov, wastegate and intercooler for 2 grand to my friend. i'll be taking it off the rb on saturday i kinda wanted to use that turbo for the ka......driving a "peppy" car and not having boost is a pecker tease but she'll be there soon enough. i think i'll have to transfer the Z U L8R tag to the 510 so it doesn't get taken by someone else. anywho, you guys are great and thank you for the replies. i'll pop in here and there. take it ez and God Bless, Dave =]
  16. got the 280z on the dyno with the new and improved z32 tranny, beefy driveshaft with serviceable ford u-joints, the 3.9 r200 of fury. 18psi on teh dyno, first pass 381, 2nd pass 392, 3rd pass 399, fourth pass @ 7200rpm BOOM!!! FLAME from the turbo side......oil on the ground.............. conclusion...if you use stock rods......replace stock rod bolts with arp rod bolts..... rod bolt snapped and slung cylinder 4 rod through the side of the block HAHAHAHHA. in all honesty...it was the coolest ♥♥♥♥ i've ever seen happen to a motor in person....just sucked when i realized...that was MY motor hahah. i have a spare block and head in the garage but i'm seriously tired of it..... i've worked something out with a body shop so my widebody 71 240z can finally get it's body work finished and in some paint. so i'm thinking of parting out the 78 280z... a friend offered me $1600 for the gt30/76r, my xs power manifold, tial 38mm wastegate, greddy type s bov, and ebay front mount ic....i don't know if that's enough $$ to persuade me cause i could pick up a long block, pop it in and get 9-10 grand for the car pretty easily around here. so i dunno... in any case....i think i'm gonna go 2jz in the 240z...i just want 600rwhp reliably and that shouldn't be a problem if i go that route. but it's going to be a while before that comes to fruition. so in the meantime i will be beefing up the new toy 1972 Datsun 510 4 door IRS I already dropped in a ka24de in it, 160hp should make the 510 hit mid 13's lol, the chassis is striaght as hell and before i tweak it i'm gonna get a roll cage in it and get an r200 in that puppy. then i shall build the bottom end of the KA, slap a turbo on it and crank it up. my goal for the 510 is an SCCA car that if provoked can run mid 11's to high 10's with good tires without breaking ♥♥♥♥ lol. i'm really excited about it cause my Z didn't handle that well and i have a back seat for the ladies hahahhaha. seriously though it should be a really fun car. all i have left till it's driveable is an inline fuel pump, the throttle cable, the wiring (i love wiring seriously, it's fun2me), and the radiator hoses. once i get the Z back at the house i'll rob all those goodies from it and go pwn some hondas with the n/a power hahaha. anywho, thanks to all of you for your help and compliments, here's some pics of the 510 i'm thinking ZOMG510 for the license plate or OMG-510 LOL shrug maybe HLRYSUX (hillary sux) lol , i'm open for suggestions as well. anyways, take care everyone, best of luck, hopefully i won't be a stranger too long Dave =] http://www.myspace.com/Z_U_L8R
  17. i got the same msa type 3 kit for my 71 240z...the front bumper fits pretty decently, but the side skirts are all hellafied twisted and stuff, the rear bumper's gonna take a little persuasion but it doesn't help that i have molded in fender flares that stick out far as hell heh. i liked the msa type 3 the best cause it had a gap for the fmic. all in all we gotta shoot the engine bay then finesse this body kit on there and prime the whole thing. it's a great looking kit.....i just wish it would have came out the mold or whatever they do to get the shape a little less distorted.... :/ Dave
  18. sounds good, i'll get more info, like where it's gonna be at etc etc i love big track events, but i don't do that well under pressure unfortunately lol hahaha, yeah boris aka boki (cf m3 guy), he's a funny guy =] he do any better at this track? he was having problems with his rear end at SDR import showdown i think his best was a 12.8@118mph at SDR Dave's a cool guy, he always tries to help. sorry all that went down the way it did. truely turbo dave's one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet, he's helped me out so much. it sux that what happened gave a bad impression, and i'm sure he'll rectify things. for the record, there's "turbo dave", "datsun dave" (me), and "big dave" big dave is the staulky bald headed guy that kind of looks like jim the anvil neidhardt from wwf hahaha. big dave is one of the nicest guys i have ever met. he's a true friend. he's seriously like an older brother, always helpful, generous as all get out, and he's definately a loyal friend you can count on to have your back. i hope you guys can give them another chance so you can get know them like i know them. that's all i can really say about the whole thing since i wasn't there. i just wanted to know wtf happened is all. i'm going to florida tomorrow to spend some time with my old man, so next weekend i should liven up the board with some more runs in mexico =] hopefully i can hook with DR's and another 100hp hahahha, i can't wait to get back Take it ez fellas, Dave =] here's another pic of your car JT

  22. ya, that's my tuner man i'm hearing different stories from everyone Dave said it was cause they said he didn't have a full exhaust, so he shows him his exhaust goes all the way back. then they said he doesn't have a muffler, yet he passed tech inspection and they put him in the category they put him in. it's not like he had a muffler in tech then took it off, or changed tire. the truck was the same the whole day. so he passes tech, beats the hell out of the truck 4 or 5 times, then right before the finals they disqualify him? it's just kinda shady. another guy told me he was standing right there by the wall and they said he leaked fluids on the track and that's why he got kicked out. and now you're saying that it was cause of his tires. he said there were a lot of other guys competing with slicks, but they broke their ♥♥♥♥ so..LOL all i know is if you were him, and they passed you in tech, and placed you where they placed you, then right before you kick everyone's ass in a monster truck you get booted.....i'd be pissed off too LOL. if nothing else they should've just said you can't compete and i'm sure he would've been fine just test and tuning lol. anyways, so far this is the 3rd story i've heard, and all are different. i left turbo dave's earlier and asked him about it lol. anywho, i wish i woulda been able to go. we've been tryin to get this other turbo on there, and once we did (wednesday) it ended up having shaftplay from the housing being wallowed out....we didn't have a plan b so that kinda screwed me from goin to import faceoff and bustin my first 10. i heard that track was pretty sticky too, grrrr oh wellz. i'll have my day in glory soon enough lol did you guy's get any video? i wanna c some vids take care Dave =]

  24. i saw what you were talking about and i got to see my knock log, it was like 1, 2, 3.... *shrug lol thx man *hug well the q trim pt67 .70 a/r cold , .70 a/r hot needs new bearings (shaft play) so back to the gt40r hybrid but we're gonna use a 1.0 a/r divided t3 frame, we're gonna put a t4 flange that has t3 stud holes also on the manifold and play around with different turbos till we find the billy badass. take care.
