man, a VQ35DE in a 240Z would absolutely fly! that would be an amazing swap, i bet the motors are quite pricy.

my 280z definetly has the fumes problem, always have to keep the windows down.

man, those over fenders look serious. you can fit some wiiiiiiiiide rubber in those fender wells.and does anyone know the offset of those watanabes?

i bought an 81 L28ET a few months ago thinking it only needed a head gasket and new freeze plugs. i was planning on disassembling it, replacing all the wear parts, reassembling it, then installing it into my 76. i removed the cylinder head a few days ago and brought it into the shop to get a basic freshening up, valve job, and plane job, etc. well, the shop gave me a call before they started working on it and told me that the head is warped beyond planing and there is a water leak that needs to be welded up, the price for the work $300 when i removed the water pump from the water pump housing on the front cover of the motor, i found that part of the finned piece of the housing had broken off, i found those broken peices when i removed the oil pan... what does this mean? how would these pieces get into the oil pan? and do you think they have caused damage on thier way there? Basically what i'm wondering is, is it even worth trying to rebuild this motor? if there is damage to the head there will most likely be some damage to the internals of the block...correct? Thanks for any help you can give. -Domenic

honda s2000 seats are very nice, i think you could get them to work in a z, i don't think they are much bigger than the oem seats. i put miata seats in my s30 and love them, a pretty straight forward install, i just bolted the stock seat rails to the mazda seats.

clean engine bay, but the fake stone look is not my bag...

I run this setup on my 76z. i have full stock exhaust with a dummy cat and a universal Apex'i N1 N/A muffler (2 1/4 inlet). it runs great, not too loud, infact i bought the optional silencer just incase it was too loud but i run it without the silencer because it isn't. it has a very deep rumble to it at idle, roars great uptop and it's never buzzy or raspy, and the build quality is great. If you are thinking of this setup go for it, you won't be dissapointed.

it's pretty simple to attach 240z front and rear bumpers to a 280z, i replaced both of mine myself. for the front bumper you are going to need some aluminum stock to make brackets that will hold the bumper in place to the inside of the grill, there are plenty of places to bolt the brackets and i'm sure you can figure it out, it's quite simple. i'll try to get some pictures of my brackets. as for the back, i removed the stock bumper and released the pressure in the shocks by drilling a hole in them, pushed in the shocks so they sit close to the body and used them to mount the 240z bumper. it's an easy project, the hardest part is finding 240z bumpers in good shape.

i'm also doing a L28T swap on my 76. i know that if you decide to use the T5 you'll need to get your diveshaft shortened a bit. i plan on using a ZX 5-speed. if you are planning on high hp the cv conversion would be a smart investment because the u-joints tend to snap quite easliy from what i hear.

i'll have to check that out. not for the scantily clad supermodels, for the z's.

i put a pair of cloth miata seats in the z almost a year ago now, and have absolutely no regrets. they are great alternative to expensive aftermarket seats.

the car pictured above is actually a scale model of the Wangan Midnight S30. i remember seeing the article in some Japanese model building magazine, they also has a model of Blackbird, the Porsche from Wangan Midnight

well, i'm rebuilding aa 81 zx turbo motor that i eventually plan on swapping into my 76 280z. well, unbolted the water pump today from the block and i found about an inch of the metal that makes up the "snail" design was rusted off, i was wondering if this may be a sign of the motor being abused and how do you recomend i fix it? thanks.

i don't think they made a gold and black special edition 280Z only a gold and black special edition 280ZX...
