  1. Once again, thanks John. Yes I have the bump stops, just didn't have it on when I took the picture.
  2. Hey guys, I am putting together the coilovers for my 260z. I am using Koni race shocks and hypercoil springs. I am using the stock rubber insulators for now, but I have a question about assembly. Here are some pictures. So, I put on the springs, aluminum spring perch that came with the threaded sleeves, then stock insulator. Does that sound right? The Konis also cam with the extra parts in one of the pics, nuts, metal ring, plastic washer, and some kind of bushing/ sleeve. Not sure where the bushing/ sleeve and plastic washer goes. If anyone can enlighten me it would be a great help.
  3. So, some people were askin to see more pics of the flares. I still need to put some rubber around the edges to fill the gaps. These are extended ZG flares that I got from a past member, zforce, most know who he is. Enjoy.
  4. Thanks I have been working on this as much as possible, then when winter came I had to hold off on painting, because it was not warm enough. A member on the forum here was having them made and was selling them. I think it was like $35 shipped or something like that. Try to do a search and see if he is still selling them, if you are interested in one.
  5. I decided to do the Betamotorsports route, I know it's expensive but saved me the headache. I believe some of the images show the mount, it is already welded in and painted. I fabed up a tranny mount on my own, R154 tranny.
  6. Thanks for the views and the kind words. Its been a long journey, and I still have a long way to go. I'm sure in the end it will all be worth it.
  7. Okay guys, those that are interested in my build can take a look the the "projects" section, titled " jkgts1's 260z project." enjoy.
  8. Okay the pics that I have from my build are on the large side and I guess I am limited on space on this forum. So I set up some links to my photo bucket album. Let me tell you a bit about the project. This is a 74 260z (early) that I bought 3 years ago for $1,700 in Moreno Valley CA. I started taking the car apart with no intension of doing a full restoration, but that is what ended up happening. Anyway long story short, found rust, had to fix it. I have so far done 100% of the work myself, never done it before, and I am still flying by the seat of my pants. All the knowledge I have gained from this project have been from the terrific people on this forum. Any questions feel free to ask and I will try to answer the best I can. Sorry some of the images are out of sequence, but you can still get the jist. original engine the beginning the beginning patch panel patch panel sub frame connectors patch panel patch panel patch panel patch panel patch panel patch panel rust rust another patch under coating on rotisserie new engine frame rails rotisserie engine frame rails My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link My link
  9. I have a bunch of pics since I started the project a few years ago. Just never put anything up because it is not really anything out of the norm. By that I mean the things I have done have already been done by others, but if you like I can put some images up
  10. Yes that is the stamped cut out that was for sale by one of the members here. Yeah I am doing the satin black with various CF pieces for contrast, and so far I am happy with it.
  11. I am in the process of painting my 260 satin black. I'm using Kirker Hot Rod satin black. I have not put it on yet, but it is supposed to hold up to the elements without a clear coat. The pics are just of the car primered, the inside is dark metalic grey with clear.
  12. Yeah, I've tried just about everything in my power to get this last pin out. I just have to take it to a shop and see what they can do. Empire, I have a set from MSA, 2 spindles, 4 nuts, 4 bushings, 4 washers. I paid about $110 + shipping for them. Are you interested in the set for $90 + shipping. I am just going with aftermarket control arms. Email me if you are interested. jkgts123@hotmail.com
  13. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep trying.
  14. So, I know there are plans for a puller, but I don't think it will help. Anyway I decided to use a saw and separated the spindle from the control arms. I then pressed the cut spindle out with a 12 ton press, no issues with the first one. The second one is a different story, the pin will not budge. I have soaked it with lube for the past three weeks, and no go. I have also tried pounding it with a 2.5 lb sledge hammer, hoping to brake the rust loose, but no go. So, I was going to take it to a shop to have them press it out, hopefully they have a much larger press than I do. Who would have such a press? All I can think of is machine shop, but the few that I have called said they don't do that. Any ideas? Thanks
  15. I'm not an expert, but as long as you keep the ratio the same, between paint and activator, I don't think there should be an issue. It is hard to mix the exact amount, because it depends on how thick you lay it down, how many coats, and how long the pot life is.
  16. Love that, I don't think I would have enough room under the hood.
  17. I remember seeing this on "Bill Nye the science guy" when I was in middle school, lol. Good stuff.
  18. Jon, you bent your halo with this bender, correct? Did you use .120 wall tube? I just noticed that the bender cannot bend .120 wall DOM or 4130, well that is what the description says. I am trying to bend .120 wall 1.5" DOM without spending an arm and a leg on a bender, but if I can get a complete bender for $399 I'll get it. Thanks
  19. I am looking for the Koni 8610-1437 and they are about $200 +/- for each shock. Now I found these, they are $350 for a pair. https://935motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=28&products_id=1115&osCsid=53247ef88199bef0a35522f57885ba4e Now they share the same part number. So I am assuming they will work with my 260z, with sectioning of course. Any concerns if I buy these? Or does anyone know a place that has them cheaper? Thanks
  20. Yeah, I finished cutting it out last night. I haven't welded the hoop to the car yet so taking it out was no problem.
  21. Yeah, I'm just going to move it in a few inches more. As far as being 5'10" or taller, that is where I am lucky, I'm only about 5' 6". One of the only times I'm glad i'm short. Nelson, As far as the tubing in the engine bay goes, nothing permanent yet, but it's nothing you haven't seen before. A lot of people have done great stuff with tubing, like Jon.
  22. That is what I figured. I was thinking "if I have to ask, I better just change it." Thanks
