  1. I used the harbor freight needle scaler on my 260 and worked great for me. I did not notice any dents when I did it. The instructions tell you to angle the scaler and not to use it perpendicular to your work surface. As long as the undercoating is fairly dry it should work, if it is soft it will not work too good. Good luck. Thanks
  2. So this was my first attempt at making one of these. I am not building this for any particular sanctioning race. Well I welded in the diagonal bar to the main hoop, then noticed how far away it was from the corner at the top. I got a bit carried away didn't realize it at the time. Do you guys think that I should cut it out and put in another one with the top part of the bar closer to the bend? This is 1.5", .120 wall 4130 tube by the way, if it will help with the decision. Thanks
  3. Yeah the chemical stripper is expensive. It is also very messy and smelly. I ended up using multiple methods to remove my paint, chemical stripper, sander, and sand blaster. I hopped back and forth with these three methods. I don't ever want to strip a car again.
  4. Yes, I believe it is the same, but you need the oil return.
  5. I sent them an email at the beginning of the month and have not received anything back.
  6. I plan to do that already, not exactly to the middle of the firewall, but as close to it as I can. I wanted to put one straight across also. I have not had a chance to work on it much, but hopefully I can figure something out. Thanks
  7. I am looking at that too, but I guess I should wait till I get more together.
  8. Well, I have the engine mounted with John's (Betamotorsports) mount. I made a bar before I mounted the engine, kind of got ahead of myself. I used 1" dom tubing with adjustable rod ends. The bar is straight but the hood will not close. I need bends on both ends. Here are some pics. I was looking for oval bar for more clearance, but it is kind of difficult to find. The other bar in the pics is from my Celica, and seems to contour better.
  9. Some people get excited and don't read, lol.
  10. Anyone here have a 2jzgte in there S30 that has a front strut tower bar? I'm talking about stock intake and exhaust manifolds. Looking at mine I don't think a straight bar would fit, and it seems even a bent bar would have problems clearing the hood. Any input? Thanks
  11. Yeah 1/8" its tight but it fits.
  12. Well, I am actually making progress on the car. Spent all day today making the tranny mount (2jzgte/ R154) for my 260z. It's pretty ugly, but I suppose it will work. Enjoy.
  13. Well, it seems that I got the engine/tranny angle same as the diff angle. Just have to make a tranny mount now to keep it where it is. Thanks for the help.
  14. I read on a post somewhere that you should have one plane parallel and the other plane can be up to 3 degrees off. This is the first time I have been this involved in a project. So, I'm taking all the advice I can get. Thanks for the replies.
  15. Yeah from eyeing it, its looks pretty close. Thanks
  16. How is everyone? This is my situation. I have a 74 260Z with the 2jzgte/ R154 mounted with John's (betamotorsports) mount, but I still have not made a tranny mount yet. I want to make sure all my angles are good. In the rear I have a R200 from a 96 Q45 mounted with MM kit. At this point the car is level, the diff is level, and the engine/ tranny are angled downward to the rear about 1-2 degrees. I can get the engine/ tranny level too, but it looks like I will have clearance issues with the e-brake part that goes through the tunnel. I found the thread on the laser tool for alignment, but have not got around to putting it together yet. Is there another way to find out if the center of the tranny output shaft and the center of the differential are parallel? I can still swing the tail of the tranny left to right a little, hopefully enough to have them parallel. Any advice. Thanks
  17. Hi, I'm trying to find out if all 240z, 260z, and 280zs have the same steering shaft? The one that goes from the steering column to the rack. I have a 260z and I have had the thing apart for 3 years and I can't seem to find my original one. Thanks
  18. No, I'm pretty sure it is a dealer specific item.
  19. I think the late model 97 supra have the narrowest profile. Check John's website (betamotorsports.com) he has the part numbers listed there. These are the engine mounts he uses for his crossmember.
  20. That is what I meant, the Aristo in general, not just the engine. Sorry for the confusion. I wanted to know because my 3sgte had stock bov that is recirculated. So, when you try to vent to the atmosphere the car runs rich and doesn't drive too well. Wondering if the Aristo is the same. Thanks
  21. Does anyone know if the Aristo's 2jzgte comes with a BOV from the factory? If it did was it a recirculating system? My 3sgte has a recirculating system and was wondering if the 2jzgte is the same. Thanks
  22. Hi, just got the Z back from the soda blaster. The guy told me that soapy water and scotch bright pad or even a pressure washer will do to remove the soda. Is there another way that does not involve so much water. I am really trying to avoid more rust as much as I can. thanks
