Original IMSA flare build from"Advanced Race Car Suspension Development" by Steve Smith
  2. I found this picture of an IMSA Z under construction with the wooden buck for the rear flare. This is from "Advanced Race Car Suspension Development" by Steve Smith.
  3. Hi John, I would be glad to let someone take molds in Sacramento but 450 miles is a little far for me to haul stuff and leave in someones grubby resin covered fingers. Just to remind folks I don't have a g-nose, the red front flares are square cut, not how I have seen ones using a g-nose. The flares also have mudflaps, not IMSA correct like Frisselle flares. Also as I understand fiberglass molding, it needs to be on the car and finished for a smooth and dimensionally accurate mold to be taken. The rears I have are still molded to the quarter panel of the cut up car so that would work, but the fronts would need to mounted to a Z. el240z and hooversturbo have complete cars that are the correct flares and g-nose. They are both in the San Francisco bay area. I doubt Hoover would want his paint messed up but perhaps el240z has not painted his yet? Still 400 miles away from the shop Dudeboy found.
  4. It looks nice. Isn't the widebody kit you have there no longer being made? I am very interested in seeing a bigger picture of the front airdam.
  5. Here is what I want my autocross car to look like. The wheels I borrowed from a pic of Drivesideways car and drew an airdam/splitter on front. I share Oldestzguys affinity for a no g-nose look. Here are the rear flares from the white Primadonna Z.
  6. I have been trying to call up http://www.darius240z.com and "servin it up" websites for a couple of days with no luck. Anyone else having any luck? Sorry if this has been covered already. I did a search and saw Darius had new pictures of his car posted but no luck in calling them up. I saw an expose yesterday on Inside Edition cracking down on websites selling DVD's with illegal bike stunts on public streets. Coincidence or maybe it's a server problem. Just guessing now.
  7. How about keeping the original windshield and a couple of inches all around the frame of the window and lay that back. Then do metal work to match the body up rather than a custom windshield.
  8. If I only had the cash....... http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/75640438.html
  9. Wow 2 jobs. My wife only has one...hmmm honey I need more car parts. Nope that won't fly. The wheels I bought from http://www.midatlanticmotorsport.com/ are Panasport C8's. Any 3 piece wheel can be made to your offset, width and bolt circle. The Panasports max out at 12 inches wide. I am going to try to mold just the flare portion in fiberglass to attach to trimmed steel fenders. A complete fiberglass fender mold plus the inner liner which is a seperate mold is beyond my skills I am certain. If that works out I will let you know. Do keep looking though because these IMSA style cars pop up once in awhile.
  10. The red front fenders fit my 16x12 wheels with 5 inch backspacing. They came with the black 280z Ibought with the rear flares too. No G-nose. They are unique with the little mud flap like 70's Corvettes. My guess is they were a street version sold. The fit and finish is excellent. The white front fenders I bought from 70's endurance racer Bob Lapp and are a rougher fit. They will only allow 10 inch wide wheels with 5 inch backspacing. The width difference was discussed in an older thread. There was a rules change limiting wheel width on the Z's so the Porsches could catch up! I have tried to get people interested in making a mold with no luck. After reading Terry Oxendales posts on fiberglass I am going to give it a shot when the rain stops. The shipping costs would kill you though with us on opposite coasts plus the red flares do not have the front lip that matches the g-noses I have seen.
  11. I think these are the flares "Arizona Dan" has radiused to fit his big tires.

Here is a pic I took of your car in the late 80's or early 90's. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3411&size=big&cat=500&page=1
  13. I will bribe the IT guys here at work to copy the pictures. No charge from most likely the secondoldestzguy to the oldestzguy. And thanks El240z for the place in line for the wheels. I still say someone should make moulds and try and make a side business with these flares. Also, I heard ebay just bought craigslist....is this a bad thing?
  14. Hey el240z, put me on your list of folks who want to buy your wheels when you sell them. Here are some pics of your car when it was on Craigslist. I have a few cd's full of IMSA pics.
  15. I could not find anyone selling them new but sets and cars come up for sale if you keep your eyes peeled. I have found one and a half sets myself here in northern California. There are many variations I have seen in shape and width. Your son sounds very deserving and I wish you luck. Here are a few photos for motivation. This Frisselle Z picture at Laguna Seca is by Hybrid member RacerX This black one is owned by a Hybrid member and might be for sale. Can’t remember.
  16. I talked to Bill about 16x12 wheels and suggested the YZ kit to him awhile back. He did some interesting tweaks with the headlights, bumpers and different airdam. The CCW's should look very nice.
  17. I like your car mucho. I have the same flares, airdam and the same rear spoiler is on order for the open track car I am building. I won't steal your graphics idea though. Is Bill Coffey getting different 16x12's or is he switching wheel size?
  18. You need to cut the outer and inner fender in the rear and join them somehow. I welded mine and here is what I did. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7599&highlight=flares The picture is an orange car because I have two "73's and have done it on both of them. If you search there have been posts by Dan Juday and others on different methods.
  19. Here are the "street flares" riveted on my car.
