Hi John, have you had any word on the compatibility of the 8610-1437RACE struts to the Z?
-
That is Bill Coffey's autocross and hillclimb Z in Florida.

240Z Camber Plate Sources?
zlalomz replied to 240Z2NV's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I just called Ground-Control. They are $299 for the front and $299 for the rear-not per corner. Arizona Z Car has weld on plates for $99 per corner. -
Tire compounds in the 70's were no where near as grippy as they are today. It would be interesting to see how skinny a modern day tire would be to equal those 14 inch wide 70's tires. Cheapa$$racing, Where did you find some that had not been painted? The front set I got from a 70's racer are poor fit too. The street version ones I have are a superb fit with fender backing like a stock front fender. So when are you going to fill all the extra acreage under those fenders?

I am sure that is why everyone stopped making them and Arizona Z won't ship, but climate control is called California and you have a pretty big market here so you might sell one or two sets. I would guess you would only recoup your mold costs but you would have spares when you crunch your own glass. That is my plan anyway with my set. Another market is autocrossers (all 2 or 3 of us Z folks since wheel width limits have been lifted in FP and E-mod and 12 inch wheels don't fit other available glass. But Mike is right, it would not be a business but rather a service for other Hybrid members. Keep your day job. el240z i have sent you a PM.

el240z, you might want to have some molds done of those flares before you paint them or modify them. They look like the original Datsun Comp IMSA flares. The history of the car seems to say so too. Many on this forum have tried to find these flares. The ones from Arizona Z look different. There were many versions, I have a nice street variation but I think you got some of the good ones. Some vintage racers might be interested too. Here is a picture taken by RacerX of the Frisselle car in the 70's.

When I was in Munich last March we went to the "Fifth Season Festival" where they serve stark bier (strong bier). It is a meal and a beverage!!!! While not my favorite German beer, it was my favorite time.....I think....well,I can't remember. http://www.toytownmunich.com/archive/001062.html

There is a great article and pictures in Grassroots Motorsports November issue on Ted Fisher's 280YZ.

There is also http://www.photobucket.com The same resizing deal.

Sorry if I was not clear but the blue car is Bill Coffey's, not mine. My car is the slow motion project in my avatar. I would contact John Washington at ztrix who sold him the YZ kit. Perhaps he could put you in contact with Bill.
-
I don't know of any kits for the ZX, but ask John Washington himself at http://www.ztrix.com and I also don't know what was involved in the modifications on Bill Coffey's car. His wheels are 16x12 and Ted Fisher's car below has 18x12 wheels with 5 1/2 inch backspacing with 1/2 inch spacers up front. A front shot of my 16x12 wheel with 5 inch backspacing is at http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10653&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 (I don't have my original anymore)

My car is not done yet. The SCCA is making 12 inch wheels legal for the first time in F Prepared this next year. The only person I have talked to running 16x12 wheels in autocross and hill climbs is Bill Coffey in Florida. He claims great success with handling and better tire wear than his 10 wheels and slicks. This blue car below is Bill Coffey's car.

Darius has YZ up front. They are very wide. I have 12 inch wheels under mine for autocross. That is just nuts for the street as well as the offset would give alot of kickback. I would suggest SubtleZ up front for a street driven car.
-
It would kind of look like J-Lo. You woud have a 7 inch max front tire with up to a 12 in the rear. For a more balanced car I would look at Dan Juday's use of the subtle Z front fender's with the YZ rear.
-
Is it my twisted imagination or is Dr.Crusher sportin' a package.
-
Judging from the rear panel that is not a 72. Make sure the V.I.N. #'s have not been messed with. I came across a 280 that had been turned into a 240 Z with the #'s swapped to get pass smog.

I have these flares too and am able to fit 12 inch wheels with coilovers and 5 inch backspacing. In Australia, the prettiest flares I have seen are done by Nixcars over on Classic Z. Here is a link to the rears, he has not done the fronts yet and just has a bubble flare for reference. Perhaps he will do a mold and make you some! http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5357&sort=1&cat=500&page=1

Awesome. I was going to ask if you had a full shot of the Sharp car, because I saw it in the corner of another one of your photos. These pictures are like gold. I think this car got a G-nose a little later.

A photo with a Z and your future wife on the first date! That is what I call Destiny. The aqua Z was serviced by Scott Performance, a friend of my brother's and the white one was at Pleasanton fairgrounds at an autocross and was for sale at that time too.

Here is some interesting information from Al Keller about IMSA flares and how the sizes changed because of rule changes. This is from a previous Hybrid Z thread: I started my project a while ago and came across a few companies that used to make fiberglass body panels that allowed you to duplicate the black car in question. It also came to light that there were at least 2 different width rear (and front?) body panels - the really wide ones (like the black car) would handle 15" wide rear wheels. Evedently, IMSA changed the rules to force the Zs to use narrower (12"?) wheels in the rear so the Porsches could keep up! I found my body panels used (the "narrower" ones) and filed all the other source information away - I'll see if I can find the info. One was a guy that had the body panels (YZ and 940Z) John Washington now sells - possibly John got those molds as well? Another was Arizona Z. There was another that just faded away over the last few years - I gave him an order for all of the body panels but he never did anything. More than a year later, I found the used panels and they were made by this guy originally! Another set of molds belong to the guy that bought Frassille's 197? IMSA GTU champion car. Another was a fiberglass panel company that may or may not be in business now. I talked to the guy who has Bob Sharp's cars, but he wasn't interested in making molds. Again, I'll see if I can find this info. The set I've got are useable with a lot of body work so I'm ok. I would like to have another set that won't take so much body work though! If some one like John was interested in making molds, I could make mine available as masters. The front fenders are slightly wider than the G-nose and I do not have the air dam. Pictures of the GTU cars are hard to come by but the cars are getting more track time now on the vintage race circuit. Maybe someone has photos that they could share. Al Keller Also here is a picture I have posted before from my brother's collection. The "aqua" one I photographed at the De Anza auto-x 11 years ago. And here is an early V8 Hybrid with IMSA flares but no G-nose.

You should send these over to http://www.racingsportscar.com They are filling up holes with pictures of cars entered from that era and I am sure there is a place for the pace cars too. Anyway the more Z's the better. I wonder what happened to that car? I could find nothing on the web about it's whereabouts.
