  1. I went with a Lokar 6" shifter for the 4L60e. I built a U-shape cradle mount for the shifter which drops the height about 1-2." The plan is to use the stock inner and outer shift boot. I'm still in process of finishing the shifter install but so far it appears it will work nicely. I started out with a used B&M shifter and steered away from it because I wanted something more stock looking. The B&M has a cable. The Lokar has solid linkage.
  2. Excellent. Thanks for the advice. Poly it is... I eager to see how the 240 feels relative to my wife's Saturn Sky Redline - I keep telling her my old Z is going to walk all over her.
  3. I bought a full set of new energy suspension poly bushings on Craigslist last year for ~$30 - couldn't pass it up. I haven't installed them yet because I've been focused on the LS1 install. I'm closer to starting on the suspension so now I'm wondering if I should run 100% poly or a mix between rubber (for anything that goes "up and down") and poly for other locations. Do the poly bushings make the car ride harsh? I don't mind firm and tight but teeth jarring harsh is what I'm trying to avoid. I'm looking to make the 240 a daily driver when weather is good. Not trying to hijack the thread just wanted to get a few quick thoughts on the subject from someone experienced. Thanks...
  4. I used the John's Car mounts and found them easy to install and the quality to be good. I could have made my own but my labor to dry fit the motor multiple times, buy materials, weld, re-weld, fit, re-fit etc. made it a simple decision to simply buy from JCI. From start to finish it took me about ~3 hours to install my LS1 w/ 4L60e trans with the JCI setup. I also bought John's headers and all other associated accessories (once again good quality and all the "homework" is done). I happened to be in Dallas, TX last week so I stopped by JCI to meet John. John is a great guy who provides good support, willing make things right if there is a problem and willing to provide information if you have a question. The only caution I have is if you are installing an automatic transmission... I bought the JCI trans mount and found it not to work well with exhaust fitment using a 4L60e trans. It appears it would work great with a 6 speed because the 6 speed is much narrower in size but with the automatic it's not conducive for easy exhaust fitment. On the automatic I found the mount to be positioned too far forward not allowing sufficient room for the exhaust to pass by the rear of the trans pan and through the exhaust locations on the mount. As a result I modified the JCI mount to provide more room for the exhaust.
  5. Nice video! Thanks for sharing. Now I'm stoked to get my 240 running... Funny to see you want to build a C6. I had a 2006 C6 for 3 years - I upgraded it with CNC ported heads, cam etc. and finally a supercharger. Sold it to my bro-in-law and bought a C6 Z06. Still have the Z06 (stock) and now I'm building the 240. I'm interested to see how the 240 compares to the C6 base and Z06. Could you post a few photos of the turbo setup? I'd love to do the same once I get mine running.

  8. This looks really attractive - Better than the Subaru power steering rack I have sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. I'm not looking for specific cost but could you provide budgetary numbers for the EZ Power Steering? i.e... <$500 or <$1000 or <$1500 etc.
  9. Thanks for the info.! I went with a Livernois stage 2 setup (CNC ported stock heads, their stage 2 cam, kooks headers etc.) on an LS2 project a few years ago. I was super impressed with the way the motor ran - It made ~450HP at the wheels. Now I'm working on the 240Z LS1 project - I'll take your info. into consideration when I upgrade things - torque is where it's at.
  10. Sweet video of the Z06 and your Z! I tried a quick search to see the details of your 280z build (engine specific) with no luck. What are the specs. of your engine? Sounds pretty "tame" in the video. Is it pretty much stock? I'm doing LS swap in my 240z and would like the ability to blow away a few Z06s.
  11. KTM - Your exhaust looks sweet! Much like the way I want mine to look. I have the JTR headers too. How does this setup sound? Is it loud? I'm looking for something I can drive for hours on the highway with the wife without drone.
  12. Excellent post! Thanks for the explicit information. I will be copying h4's setup on my ls1 240z.
  13. Guys - I'm building a similar car to this and loved the Panasport wheels. I realize they are 16" wheels but could you provide the width and offset? Also what size tires. The tires seem to fit perfect on this car and I want to copy the wheel/tire combo. Thanks!
