  2. Removed the stock heater, installed the Vintage Air mini and placed the LS1 PCM behind the glove box.

  4. Nice looking car. Like the orange paint!
  5. I used the JCI engine mounts, trans cross member (LS1, 4L60E), JCI drive shaft etc. No driveline alignment issues and no howling rear diff. Can you put the car on a lift, run the car in drive and use a stethoscope to pinpoint the location?
  6. Yes, emissions... I'm sure the test would drive me crazy if I left the straight 6 w/ SU carbs in the car. I've had to deal with emissions since the 90's in this state. The only vehicles I've had problems with all had carburetors.
  7. Phantom - That's about what mine does... basically 0 at idle and good readings at higher RPMs. The gauge is slow to react to RPM changes. I'll swap the sending unit out this winter. Having too much fun driving it while the weather is good. I've racked 700 trouble free miles so far. Passed emissions with no problem. Cam and a few other mods are next - needs a little more power.
  8. I used the JCI kit - works good and fits well with JCI headers. Met John in person while I was in Dallas last - nice guy...
  9. Installed the mechanical gauge. 45 - 55 psi at cold idle. Looks like my Datsun sending unit is suspect. Put about 80 miles on the car this weekend - what a blast to drive. Still need to shake a few bugs out but overall no major issues. A big shout out to all of those who helped me and posted their experiences over the past two years while I was planning and working on my conversion.
  10. Compared my OEM oil pressure gauge readings with Rebekha's. Mine appears significantly lower. Bought a $25 mechanical pressure gage to verify actual values. Hopefully I'll have time to work on it this weekend. Thanks for the photos/assistance.
  11. Anyone running the OEM oil gauge and sending unit on an LS?
  12. Hello- Fired my LS1 240z for the first time last night. Removed the VATS using HP Tuners and it fired up. I'm using the factory 240 gauges and the oil pressure reading using the Datsun sending unit appears low on the face of the gauge at idle once fully warm. I would say the indicator is at the lower 1/8th of the gauge or less. The engine doesn't rattle so I'm not concerned about actual pressure, just looking to get the factory gauge to appear correct and not as if I have a pressure problem. Could anyone tell me how their factory oil pressure gauge appears at idle with the engine fully warm? Does the gauge sit around 1/3 on the gauge face etc? Thanks in advance for the feedback...
  13. Thanks for all the feedback. Savage - I'm assuming you drive yours in the rain? I'll make a sheet metal deflector at some point but I want to fire this thing up soon and get it on the road. Just a little worried about hydrolock if I get stuck in a rain storm.
  14. This is my current air filter location. I want cold fresh air but afraid of water related issues when driving in the rain. Anyone got thoughts or experience they could share?
  15. I agree. Nice job with the fab work. I appreciate the photos - Helps me with my project and new ideas. I just need to lower my takt time, improve the rolling throughput yield and poka-yoke my project. Might be time for a DAMAIC approach.
  16. I was working on my fuel system tonight. Looks like the inlet side of my c5 filter is reversed from yours. Hum... Looks like I need to verify which routing is correct.
