The fastest RX-7 is ~1000hp. it runs the 1/4 in 7 seconds. In fact, some submarines run on rotaries (8 rotors) and Le Mans cars have run on 4-rotor engines in the past, what a sound!!! I agree, but from reading that first page my impression was that he had gone through at least three Mazda engines already. I'd call that a good college try. Obviously what he's trying to do is build his own ultimate car, just like everyone on hybridz. Despite their cachet, the rotories didn't deliver.

Mostly because you clearly intended to cause harm to the thief. Conversly, if you roll over someone in your Ford Extravagation while talking on your cell phone, nothing happens because you didn't mean to. I bet if you posted a sign saying "This car may be armed with dangerous booby-traps" you'd be okay. Or perhaps sharpen some of the metal back there in a subtle way so they could not prove intent...maybe I shouldn't continue this thought in a public forum

  4. L28s generally don't make too much power past 5500RPM. The engine internals are bullet proof, thus the high redline, but the stock head/cam can't flow enough air past a certain point. This is assuming you aren't just getting drag limited.

I'm also interested in this. I've noticed that driving an early Z above 85mph can be unnerving, especially with a crosswind. Any info on how lowering or body kits affect this? BTW, has anyone noticed that a raised pickup truck can be a greater aerodynamic "obstacle" than an 18-wheeler?
  6. quote: Originally posted by sector: From experience soak the film with windex, yes windex, and let it sit for awhile. then with a razor blade get one of the corners up and just pull it off. You need to do this for each layer, and it should come right up with no problem. Apparently the ammonia in the windex breaks down the bond. This works pretty well for tint that isn't too old. If the tint is so old it has changed color from gray to purple, good luck. This is the procedure I followed. 1. Spray the tint down with a mix of ammonia and water. Then cover the glass with a cut up trash bag, it should cling. If it is too thick use something else. This is to keep the solution from evaporating while it softens the tint. 2. Leave the car in the sun for about 1/2 hour. Did I mention it is best to do this on a hot day? 3. Now peel the trash bag off. If the tint is new, it may come right off with the bag. YAY, YOU'RE DONE! 4. Okay, didn't work huh? Now get out the razor blade. You can use a heat gun or hair drier to soften the adhesive/tint. It is best just to use this to get a peel going (you'll see what I mean.) You heard what happens if you use it too much If you are going defogger lines, try running the defogger (not while you're working *zap*) I've seen a friend remove tint at the side of a road in about 1/2 hour with windex and a razor. It had just been put in and the popo didn't like how dark it was. I have personally spent a full day removing tint from a rear window that had been baked on over many years. YMMV. Good luck.
  7. I just purchased a 71 w/N42 block and E88 heads. I think you're combo is a bit better than that. I haven't really gotten a feel for it yet, but it is definately faster than those Honda's. I'm expecting I'll see low-15s as-is and to move into the 14s as I get it tuned. I know this doesn't seem like much compared to these SBC guys, but Honda's that can pull that are rare.
