  1. Actually wont 5.7 or 6.0 rods help clear up the Rod to stroke problem. 400 blocks are non existant around here. Especially on the cheap. This short block has gotta cost as much under a grand as possible. Im not full of cash right now. Just trying to peice this together as fast as I can one part at a time. Thanks for the input or suggestions so far.
  2. Thought I would addPAW will balance their super stock crank kits for an extra 120 dollars Im hoping that means they would do that on their stroker crank kits also.
  3. Your lucky if you can get a nitrous kit for 400 bucks and thats for a carb setup. 400 bucks is almost enought to get a complete stroker kit...659 at paw with forged pistons moly rings....
  4. Ok guys I will do it....you get to tell me how probably means putting it together myself so if anyone has any good rebuild books they would be willing to loan or anyone in ohio willing to help out that would be awesome. I want to build a reliable 383 short block to make around 400 hp if a little more is easily obtainable Ill take it but 400 is my goal. I was thinking about the 383 stroker rebuild kit from summit (anyone know of a cheaper source or better parts for the same price) Still looking for a good block that I wouldnt have to bore but thats not a big deal if I do. I was thinking about clearencing my own block for the stroker crank and rods is that a bad idea...Do I have to have the whole assembly balanced even if its going to be externally balanced. Thanks for any help. Sorry for the long post
  5. I was wondering if anyone knows about elgin crankshafts. Are they reputable. I was looking at the 5140 forged cranks. What is the going rate for one of these. Thanks
  6. Yes I think his did come with the fuel rails but the one I just picked up for 75 bucks did not
  7. nm I found it...same guy posted on thirdgen.org for 550. price isnt bad im gonna try to do it cheaper. I just bought my intake for 75 bucks with the tb attached. Still gotta get the rails and injectors though but im pretty confident I can get them cheap or even make my own rails.
  8. Do you have a link to that post. Im not a member there and cant find the post. Thanks
  9. sounds great except I have to keep the short block under a grand. I thought this might work.... guess not. Thanks for the help guys
  10. Hey mike what was the assembly cost of your bottom end.
  11. This guy said it cost him nearly 400 to get it balanced. Thats way outta my range. Is that true. Im trying to build the shortblock for under a grand
  12. 150 for 4.5 to 4.25 adaptors. Thats why I like these. My rear fenders are flaired so im sure they would fit. The fronts im more worried about. If I could get a custom adaptor thickness made what would I need to run stock springs. Or would coil overs do the trick and just use a 1 inch adaptor. I havnt done all the math on this so Im not really sure what i need. I may flare the front fenders as well. So no one really said if I could run a 295 on a 9 inch rim ive seen 265's on a 7.5 but they were 50 series and I want to run a 40 or 45 series
  13. Well it does have 5.7 rods but it is not internally balanced. Still a good deal. ITs gonna be 550 after shipping which for those heavy parts probably isnt that bad. Im thinking sell the pistons and balancer on ebay and get the ones I need.
  14. Yeah im tending to think they are pre 87. Thanks guys
  15. I forgot to add that this comes witn a new flexplate and a harmonic balancer
  16. Yeah I was there earlier unless im missing something It didnt say if there was a casting number to look for that would let me know if these heads where for a pre 87 small block or a later one. If anyone else knows let me know. Thanks denny
  17. Ok I have a Chance to get a 383 rotating assembly for 500 bucks only slightly used. Internally balanced scat 9000 crank eagle 5140 rods arp bolts and trw forged flattop pistons. The only deal is the pistons are 60 over. Is that a bad idea to put that in my block. The only block I could find is going to need bored .030 anyway? Is that a good deal. There are supposedly 3000 miles on assembly and from the pics It looks new. Thanks for any help
  18. I wonder what color scheme it woudl take to make the carbon fiber vents look good. I really like those I may try to create my own first but if not for 75 bucks thats a nice improvement. Also what hood is that those are on. It has a slight cowl. Is that the subtle z hood. Thanks
  19. First does anyone know where to get these exact wheels cheaper wider or in an 18 inch format in the same mustand lug pattern. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2410254017&category=6782 Also would like to know. Can you run a 295 tire on a 9 inch rim. Thanks for the help guys
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33617&item=2410112536 Thats where they are now. I was trying to answer a bidders question. I dont know how to determine if these are the post or pre 87 heads. IF anyone knows please please let me know Thanks Jared
  21. Is there any way that this could be modified to work on the back as well?
  22. Well I got a deal on a set of SR Torquer heads but Im now selling them and going to go a different route. Im not sure if these heads were the post or pre 1987 heads. My question is are the post 87 heads compatible with the pre 87 blocks and vica versa. What was the difference other than the centerbolt valve covers? Thanks for any help.
  23. OK maybe I was a little wrong I guestimated it ala map quest at one point and time. Of course when and if I ever get my z done that would be no problem
