  1. Jegs website says the Koni 8610 will ship August 6th. Dunno if that will actually happen though. I called a LOT of places trying to find illuminas just a couple weeks ago. I ended up picking up some of the VW bilsteins. Haven't got my car on the road yet so I can't vouch for their performance. I just got stock valved ones so we will see how they work. Plan on using 200F/225R for the moment, might change that after I get to drive it. Only other reasonable option I could find was some S13 coil overs, but figured all those were going to handle like garbage unless you paid for a really nice set. -Will
  2. Hahaha. First off I'm young and have a very high tolerance level. Second, I'm on the stock cam. Cams make these motors WAY louder. Also it doesn't appear your pipes actually come through the hood vents. My pipes came past the hood a 2-3 inches, which might have helped on the noise. Another thing, if you think those are loud, wait until you run straight longtube headers that dump below the floor. When I built my long tubes, the stacks didn't even come close to the noise level of the actual headers. I drove it around straight headers for 2 weeks and had to go back home to build exhaust. Between the noise and the fumes, I couldn't handle it lol. Power seems low to me, but maybe its not. Feel like a cammed 5.3 should be higher than that. Need to get some track times. And you desperately need to swap those 3.08s out for a real gear. I'm probably going to go 3.73 or 3.90 in mine. Car looks good though! Go drive it! -Will
  3. Just re-scanned through your swap thread, running the tubes from the bottom of the rear cradle to the front isn't a bad idea either(Someone posted the example in your thread). Other than having to unbolt them to remove the diff, would be easier and you could probably do it without putting a bend in it. Might take up some of the exhaust space though. -Will
  4. Went and put the diff up in the car. Plan is to run 1.25ODx.120 DOM(What I have laying around) with ~30-35 degree bend in it from the mustache bar mounting point to the spot the RT diff mount bolts too. Pretty much going to contour the floor of the car to clear the CV joints. Then crossover between the two tubes over and under the diff. Hopefully that will prevent the problem you are having. My brother has a JD2 bender that is pretty nice. Have the same bender up at school too, except theirs is a hydraulic ram powered by air...really makes bending easy. -Will
  5. I can vouch for RebekahsZ's car on slicks. First car I ever raced on slicks, had to let out in the middle of third gear, it started to feel like a hammock. Almost needed to change my boxers lol. Car looks great Josey. My plan for the 8.8 front mount is to: Run some dome tubing from the frame area where the mustache bar mounts to down to where the RT diff mount bolts to, then mount the 8.8 off of those tubes. Making a little cradle for it and preventing having a long lever determined to rip the thin Japanese sheet metal out. That's my rough plan anyways, haven't got down to the specifics yet. -Will
  6. That Datsun bed trailer is awesome. I will be fabbing up a hitch before to long to tow a small trailer with at most my motorcycle on it. -Will
  7. Track times on spray or GTFO!! That thing is gonna be wicked fast! I think you will go straight to single digits, no one likes the 10s anyways. -Will
  8. Great times! I told you turning up the two step was the way to go! I need to hurry up and finish my axle swap and make some money for more go fast parts, im getting left in the dust by everyone. Need to plan that 4 drag strips in 4 days sometime in June or July, the later you plan it the faster I should be. Gonna need to find me some nitrous so I can keep up with you lol. -Will
  9. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=lt1+vs+ls1 Pretty sure I would do a regular SBC with some vortec heads before an LT1 -Will
  10. Gonna happen sooner rather than later. Just finished my first and last final this morning, bout to head up to the machine shop here in a bit a get to work. It sure feels good to be done with this semester! -Will
  11. I doubt you will have traction issues, camber shouldn't be a problem. I'm betting around 400rwhp, I think it almost has to have a secret cam, or its just a freak LS2. That or my car weighs a lot more than I think it does. -Will
  12. Wooo!! Finally gonna see if that LS2 of yours is actually stock or not. Make sure and get some videos/pictures and post the graphs up for us. -Will
  13. Huh?? How in the world did they only have a womens team? Its 99% Mechanical Engineers, and if you hung out in the mechanical engineering building at my school...its not exactly overflowing with women lol. -Will
  14. http://students.sae.org/competitions/bajasae/results/2013_Tennessee_Scores1.xlsx If its the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga it looks like they did really well, 10th overall -Will
  15. And one of the other team members racing the suspension event. This video is much more entertaining than the events I ran. If there would have been an award for best parkour over the table top I think we might have won it. Unfortunately when you roll over they have to re-inspect the roll cage so we couldn't continue the suspension course. Even though our score was terrible, it sure is entertaining to watch! -Will
  16. I am running the exact setup as ktm posted above, except I ran the tubing through the driver's side core support hole. I didn't need to clearance the hole at all. I am running a cheap Spectre filter from oreillys instead of a K&N. -Will
  17. I used the stock F-body throttle cable, it fits right in the hole on the firewall. Think I attached the cable to the pedal with a hose clamp or some sort. Not the best way to do it and not near as clean as some setups, but if you have the stock cable it will work. Been running the setup for over a year now -Will
  18. I am a mechanical engineering student at the University of Arkansas where we do the Baja SAE program. For those that have never heard of it, pretty much you build an offroad buggy that's strapped with a wimpy 10hp briggs and straton engine. Anyways, this past week we went to the competition in Cookeville, TN. The car did really well in the acceleration test, 10th out of ~90 cars. Unfortunately almost no suspension tuning was done on the car because there was not enough time for testing. I raced the maneuverability event with all of about 10 minutes seat time before hand. I was the only one who has raced cars or AutoX'd before so I got picked for the cone racing event. I didn't realize how bad the suspension was for handling until I raced the event. Also didn't realize that the car was WAY too stiff until I watched the videos of my runs. Keep an eye out for the car going up on two wheels multiple times. Round 1 Round 2 Pretty sure my fastest time was the first run, although I am ashamed to say I think I hit 12 cones and missed 10 gates lol. The car just plowed the front end. Couldn't even turn around a hay bail. -Will
  19. Wow that tucks up much nicer than the LS1 pan. Looks like it barely hangs below the crossmember towards the back. Now that header is ready to take a smashing instead of the oil pan lol. You gonna do some racing this weekend? -Will
  20. My bad, reread my post and it sounded really harsh/negative. Wasn't meant to be. I knew you supported his diff swap, just seemed like you thought the R200 setup could be made to work, which it could, but not near as reliably as the setup he has now. Looking good Sunny, almost there. Time to take it to the track and give it a good test. Ready to see what your car can do when you can launch without breaking. -Will
  21. How many people have you seen run the R200 with a stout motor that had a stout clutch in front of it? There are many guys, probably a couple on the first page of the Gen3/4 forum alone that have gone much faster on stock halfshafts or a cheap CV setup. You wanna know what all those guys have in a common? A torque convertor. Many people run fbodys with the stock 10 bolt for a long time on sticky tires and a good amount of power, most of those guys being stalled auto cars. I put a stout clutch in and broke my 10 bolt the first time to the track with a stock LS1. Why stick with a differential you can't find parts for, has almost no aftermarket support, and feels like it weighs more than my motor does lol. The 8.8 has almost any gear you could want available for cheap, diffs are cheap, everything is cheap. The R200 is a stout diff though, but it isnt the problem. The problem is the stubs that spline into it. His setup pretty much eliminates every weak link other than maybe the outer 29 spline NA stub. On the ill-fitment note, he sheared the splines off, I would think improper length would be busting CV's not the stub axles. I seriously think it just comes down to the harshness of clutch cars. After all, SunnyZ's car runs in the top 20 timeslips posted on this forum, and I'm willing to bet 75% of those top 20 are probably auto cars or solid axle swapped, or both. And the rest probably have a stout IRS setup. You're almost there Josey, you can sleep when you dead. -Will
  22. Sure looks like a lot of slip yoke showing, mine is like Keith's was, almost too tight but I'd rather have it be almost too long than almost too short. I would probably send a picture to DSS and see what they say, would hate for you to trash a brand new driveshaft -Will
  23. Ya just looked at the map, Blytheville is actually not very far for you. Google says its a 5 and half hour drive for me if I got through LR, 6+ if I take the scenic route. Either way its way to far for me, even though it sounds awesome! And dang. I just looked up some google satellite images of the place they autocross at in Blytheville...wow. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Arkansas+Aeroplex,+Blytheville,+AR&ll=35.960483,-89.948716&spn=0.013165,0.01929&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Arkansas+Aeroplex,&hnear=0x8878acbdab56f1f3:0x95b9750987a10ac,Blytheville,+AR&cid=0,0,7580047152193038537&t=h&z=16 That is a huge spot! It's too bad they aren't going to do that again this year, I bet that is a blast! Maybe if I can fix my bike I will ride the scenic route out there, long shot but I might. On another note I need to get starter on my Lotus 7/Locost build already. -Will
