  1. Something like this reminds me of what Tim described, should work fine:
  2. Thanks Nic, I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. I took my car to Berkley today and it was still acting up, I'm going to try my friend's 650 Demon this weekend to see if the probs carb or not. Good luck with your project, you've got a solid car to work with and your engine plans sound cool - different than the usual sbc!
  3. Well let's see...I was born in July of 1970 so I guess that puts me somewhere in the neighborhood of 33.3 years of age.
  4. Based on what I've read here on this site your 3.54 is the rear end you want for a turbo to help in building boost. A 3.54 will actually peel out easier than a 3.9 since it's gearing accelerates the wheel more(also from an old post). At 25 mph(2200 rpm) in my Z in 2nd gear, if I step on it my car won't start peeling out until I reach 35-37mph(3500 rpm). This is with 225/60/15 tires, 3.7 R200, and 1.94 2nd gear. DD2000 says I'm making 364tq at 3500, so in my case that's the limits of adhesion. Hope this helps.
  5. Still ANOTHER reason to drop a diesel into a Z.
  6. I remember posting that history site a few months back - Mr. CFB Lagoon still rocks IMO, I'm tempted to start dressing more like him myself. 8)
  7. Nice link man. Check this out, Russians sure take their drinking games seriously.... http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,7921747%255E1702,00.html
  8. I like your thinking in your second message Will, that reminds me of a post a few months back about the benefit of long rods as something often overlooked.
  9. My original post: Good points you've made in great detail, definitely in an engine stand rev-off you've got me convinced the 327 may be very potent. On the road however I'll still put my money on a 383 to out-run(and thus out-rev)a same-geared 327. I'm not so hot on the 383 idea anymore because my 327 already gives me enough traction problems/fun to keep me busy, then again maybe next summer I'll change motors and see what happens.
  10. Here's another Matrix spinoff called "The Meatrix" http://www.themeatrix.com/
  11. Thanks everyone, more pics should be up at ZPARTS.com by sometime around Nov 20th.
  12. Hi everybody, recently I drove my Z to Eric Neyerlin of ZPARTS. He took some fantastic photos from a variety of locations and has been kind enough to feature my Z on his site. If you're interested you can see an interactive preview by clicking below. The feature is in the top left corner. Once there, move the cursor over the pic to get descriptions of the scoop, mirrors, etc, soon there'll be another 15 or so to check out: http://zparts.com/home.html Here's an extra one of the new licence plate:
  13. Damn Nic, that really hurts. Considering the A-Team stunt you pulled I'd call you lucky for not winding up in an ICU or on a slab.
  14. That's EXACTLY the kind of logic I'm talking about. Sure you can make a fiero look like a lambo, but think about the statement one makes by turning an exotic into a marginally embarassing car. I'd like to see it just once.
  15. Yeah, you MUST use their (very expensive) oil. IMO the front end is more reminicent of a firebird or grand am than the usual ferrari.
  16. Heavy Z

    whoa.

What I want to know is why motorcycle insurance rates didn't go down in California after the helmet law was passed.
  17. There are a lot of fieros that has been turned into exotic cars, has anyone ever seen a Ferrari or Lambo that has been turned into a Fiero? Even if you still had the italian interior and drivetrain, you could always keep looking for a good Fiero V6 engine and interior to finish the job.
  18. Terrorism these days is defined as 'a hostile action by any group that doesn't have an air force.' Happy birthday, Tim.
  19. I got a ticket for tinted side windows when I lived down in Newport Beach and mine weren't even that dark.
  20. Menacingly beutiful, Tim you've built a very cool and unique ride - soon to be driving and enjoying all that work!! Lots of personal touches, I love the chrome/aluminum hood vents and the shaved marker lights too. Few Z cars get as lucky as yours!
  21. I used a universal mesh from a local auto parts store and cut it to fit:
  22. Huh, looks like a pack of hungry vultures sticking their heads deep inside a dead deer.
  23. Some people do, while untold amounts of money are spent convincing those that don't know better to keep on buying. If we really love this system then why not share it? Why look for places to exploit in ways we wouldn't tolerate ourselves? To sit and talk about how great our freedom is without wanting to pass it along is hypocritical, it'd be like talking up Hybrid Z's all day and then if someone from Bolivia posts you try to stop them from building one. Those of you that think wage increases elsewhere would cost us too much, consider the Disney plant in Haiti. They pay the workers seven cents to make shirt that sells for fifteen dollars. The workers have tried desperately to get this up to fourteen cents because they can't pay all their bills and get heavily in debt - like the old sharecropping days here. Disney laughed them out of their corporate headquarters saying the same crap - they can't afford it. Do you think some parent is really going to care if a Donald Duck shirt is $15 or $15.07, if they want it for their kid? Would you stop buying anything costing $15 for this small amount of an increase? Of course not, most Americans could care less about seven or even seventy cents if it meant a living wage.
  24. Thanks Speedracer for the reminder that race cars with race gearing are the exception. Had I been more specific in my original statement and emphasized certain things more, many of you wouldn't have needed to chime in. Thanks everyone for the input and help in clarifying this subject.
