Here's what's up: when I start my car in the morning and put the choke on, it'll run fine while it's just idling. If i try to drive the car with the choke on while the engine is still cold, the car will bog and sputter above 1500 rpm. If I take the choke off then it's fine. The choke won't do this once the car is warmed up. So I'm a bit rich - is this bad? Is it worth re-jetting the primaries or not?

A buddy of mine who has an 8 sec. 2400lb camaro has all the experience and spare goodies lying around to hook me up with a FREE 100/120 shot setup. He'll run it on a carb plate or drill the manifold and get it all dialed in, although I don't like his idea of putting the trigger under the gas pedal. I've got a '67 vette 327 w/ edelbrock rpm heads, performer rpm intake, holley 650dp, msd dizzy and box (which he wants to interface with the nos system) - he says with alot of confidence that I could run a small shot like this "all day long." Is this true? I mean, I won't run it day and night but occasionally. Should I take the opportunity? Thanks

I had my Z shipped from L.A. to Sacramento last year, it cost me $350 and I think the company was Roadway shipping. Thought I'd tell you even though it sounds like you're going to drive it home. Good luck!

Creepy. I'll bet that car will be the type that likes to fall off jackstands.

Smash is the right word. You could use L26 or L28 rods/crank to turn you L24 into an L26, or you could destroke an L28 into an oversquare L26 with L24 rods/crank...or buy a maxima deisel crank to go bigger stroke on the L28.

Poor Lancer EvoVII - Wicked drifting with an a twisted end!
Heavy Z replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
The guy in the Lotus was a shitty driver, if he knew that car well the evo wouldn't have it so easy. I've seen the elise raced by a very competant driver and was amazed by what that little 1700 lb car could do. -
Hahaha, nice find Mudge!
-
Mudge you've got a good point, mine was a slightly different angle. What I'm getting at is that one out of every six people busted for drugs is black(few), but three out of every four drug offenders sent to jail is black(many). Doesn't that seem unusual? You spoke of economic disadvantage, which certainly is part of this considering legal fees. However the incarceration rate indicates too wide a margin to just be economic, as there are plenty of poor white, hispanic, or other folks out there getting cought doing drugs too.
-
Let's see, 1. America's #1 growth industry = the prison system ($31 million/day) 2. Prison population = 75% in on drug charges. 3. African americans make up only 17% of U.S. citzens arrested on drug charges, but they account for 74% of all drug convictions involving incarceration. 4. There isn't gonna be much rehab going on with 'big Willie' as a bunkmate. Possibly it's time to re-evaluate our motivations regarding the 'race' war on drugs...

Yep, I walked around one of these for a while last year at a Hayward show. I love all his older cars but IMO the car body has too much ducting/slits/trim for my tastes. The interior closed the deal for me, Carol Shelby went crazy with his signature (on seats, dash, steering wheel, door panels, console, etc.). BTW, I'd love to have one of those ford cobra kits for my Z

As pete said, go to the respective categories here and use the search function - hours of fun, almost any question you can think of has been asked and probably answered. Good luck!

Congrats Pellius, you've saved yourself a lot of time on that one! Now drive it and smile, knowing you've done well in picking your toyz... -
ATF Fluid Level for 15 Deg. Tilted T5's
Heavy Z replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Yep, that's how it's done. Also, do yourself a favor and run a good quality ATF like Amsoil or redline - you'll shift smoother and lessen your chances of failure. -
Finally have some pics of my Z!!
Heavy Z replied to Heavy Z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Thanks, everyone! Some feedback for those who posted: Pete: Much appreciated, man. Coming from a guy with your credentials it means alot to me. I used to have a really low spoiler up front and then one day I realized I don't live on a track but in a town, so rather than scraping all over the place I went with a spoiler with enough clearance so there is no need to fear curbs, speed bumps, etc. Denny 411: "All business" is the look I'm going for. My Blazer has a cowl hood so I wanted to go different on the Z. Peej410: Thanks for the praise on the scoop, it took a while to find one that looked right on the Z. The car IS going to be black as soon as I can find a decent/affordable body man that I trust in the Sacramento area. JBSRace1: Look up top where it says "album" then click on "user's personal galleries." Dan Juday: Thanks, Dan - I didn't know there was a nor-cal event next month, could you please tell me where / when it is? Demidion: Thanks, man - I recognize that car in your avatar, it was for sale on ebay last year and I remember drooling over the body kit it's got - very mad max bro!! The scoop on my Z is from a '69 comet grabber and it follows the contours of the Z hood very well. Thanks again for the encouragement, it makes me want to get this thing painted (not that four colors is bad ). If anyone knows a good/affordable body man in Sacramento, please let me know. -
Check out my album (up top) - I just got a digital camera so more to come. I'll post more pics of the engine, interior, exhaust work later. The Blazer in the background has got a 383 that pulled a high 14 last summer at the local speedway (with the 36's).

I went on a drive with my uncle to check out a van he wants to buy and on my our back into town today I noticed a red corvette in my rear view mirror making it's way up through highway traffic. I backed off a bit to give me a little room in front, and he gets up beside me and looks over with a smile. I point forward and he goes for the shifter, and from here I start pulling away from him...damn traffic came up quick though and I had to brake before it got too embarassing. His lane was moving better and he came by with a smile and a thumbs up - nice plate, too. I can't remember it exactly, but it was something to the effect that his car was wicked fast. My first vette and definitely more fun than racing mustangs, which need no downshift to walk them.

More Foolishness From Street Racing......Video Inside!
Heavy Z replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
After slowing down the footage a few times, it looks to me like the driver reached into the back seat for his video camera when he realized the limo he was passing belonged to Eric Estrada. This gentleman was driving way to fast to be trying to film his favorite celebrity and paid the price when "Ponch", aggrivated by the flagrent disregard for California highway code - fires at least two 12 guage slugs into the Acura (note the muzzle flash as the car passes the limo). I think there is more to this story but there is nothing more I can make up at this hour..... -
Mike, I've appreciated all your help with my Z and just wanted to say your garage ROCKS!!!
-
Yep, I run AVS tires and agree, this car is an AMAZING hybrid and much praise to the builder. This car is an extra 1,000 pounds over a stock bugeye, but with all those goodies it must be worth it.

Converting From Muncie to T5...What can I still use?
Heavy Z replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Greimann I'm not 100% if you mentioned it earlier but I remember you had some problems with the swivel-banjo fittings leaking on your McLeod hyd T/O and you replaced them with copper fittings. If you mentioned it cool, if not then TBroz you'll want to do that if you go the McLeod route(if the factory hasn't fixed the prob yet). -
Try here: How you tell if it's a 327 These posts should help you out.

Holley doublepumper - what do these symptoms mean?
Heavy Z replied to Heavy Z's topic in Fuel Delivery
Thank all of you for your help, both for the direction as well as the peace of mind. I'm pulling the carb this weekend to get this problem handled... -
Yes it'll work...do a search here and in drivetrain for WC T5 and you'll find the info you want. TBroZ was asking similar questions recently so you can also check out his posts. Good luck
