  1. Since you have to remove your timing plate to mount the sensor I made up blank indicator plates to mount on the left side. $15.00 if you buy a kit.

They're a real pain to make and there's a bit of hand (hammer) work in them so they're not show quality.

  2.

Do you have a good parts stash at your place? i need a couple little things

    Thanks,

    Adam

I wish! I ended up buying all kinds of little stuff on ebay.

wish i trusted my Z for 4 hours of driving - live in south GA, basically 15-20 min north of jax. Love to see a Z with rr. You said you were using IGuidance? is it worth the money?

Iguidance works ok but I'm not thrilled with it. I chose it because it plays nice with road runner. I've only used it a couple of times and that may be the problem!.

  3. I'm new to the Z world as I just purchased a 78 black pearl. Needs some rust fixed and a motor since the original dropped a valve on #5.

Planning on a 83 28et swap with EDIS and MS....

Good news is that I'm only 45mins away up in Gainesville! Perhaps I just found a new buddy !

Ur project looks sweet btw. love the touch screen. Makes the MS touch screen obsolete !

    Later,

    Hi Adam

    Welcome aboard.

There is a Z car club in Gainesville. We meet every month (usually) at either Blue Highway pizza or at Bill Coffey's garage. Check out this post

    This is a great time.

  4. That is a great deal. I wish it was available when I did mine. Can you post an installation photos or instructions? It might help some people visualize it on the car.

    Thanks.

I'm working on a PDF install sheet as we speak.

I'll update with some install pics soon.

  5. Well I think I finally worked out all the differences in the dampers and have settled on making the adapters fit two groove damper from the AC equipped 75 through 78 280. This is the damper

    c2678ac9.jpg

The outer groove takes the same size belt as the inner groove.

This is not the right damper

    I have 6 assemblies available.

    This is an assembly

    DSC_0001.jpg

It includes a longer crank bolt and the bolts to attach the sensor mounts.

The price is $175.00 plus shipping.

I also have 2 ford coil brackets that are available for $35.00 each. You have to buy an assembly to buy the bracket. I'm not offering them separately right now.

I'm only shipping to the US as I have to drive the stuff to the post office and stand in line to ship anywhere else. Sorry.

I had to bump the price a little but it's still a pretty good deal to get EDIS on your car quickly.

    Thanks

    Derek

  6. Before this gets sent to the tool shed for necroposting can't you just delete his (and mine for the matter) post. If it's sent to the tool shed then it closes the post.

This never mattered to me before but that mcmaster part number is exactly the vent I was looking for for my fuel system.

    Just a thought

  7. a 280z dash works better :D

i'm not sure if i'm going to bother going back to the car pc now that iphone's exist!

Looks good! The wider opening make life easier. I don't think I could getaway with ne center vent though!

What front end are you running?

Megasquirt, navigation and the lack of running more than one app at a time on the iphone keeps me using the carputer. But I really wish the iphone did all that!

    Derek

  8. That is VERY cool! If you were going to make and sell the adaptors to go from the stock to a BMW 5 series two input thing, I'd be all over that if it didn't cost too much! I was thinking of doing something similar with the vents but couldn't figure out an easy way to make up an adaptor......

    greg

    Hi Greg

No plans to make the adapters. I'll certainly release the 3D model if you know anyone that can machine it for you.

    Derek

  9. I still hate you

Thank you for hating me. I feel warm all over!

What is the software package you are using for that home screen? Is that something you custom wrote or something you found and modified?

It's called "Ride Runner" formally known as "Road Runner" until Warner bros came down on him!

    Or so the story goes.

Here is everything you need to know about carputers.

There is a whole lot of reading on there.

  10. If youre in an engineering program at a university theres a good chance they have solidworks, pro-e, or catia in the labs on campus. Also, if youre school is anything like mine they will let you use a student copy on your home computer as long as you stay connected to the internet to refresh the license every 30 minutes or so. Google sketch up works fine, but might as well use (learn) the real thing if you have access...

    Interesting idea though

    What he said!

  11. Start by downloading this

    http://sketchup.google.com/

And then send me your email and I'll send you a 3D model of the head and intake flanges from my manifold. By building it in 3D you will have worked out all the details before you ever begin to cut material. Less chance of building yourself in a corner as well.

I haven't played with sketchup too much but people are doing some pretty cool stuff with it.

Your drawing skills are about the same as mine. Crappy! That's what drove me to CAD 15 years ago!

  12. Did you end up sacrificing your glovebox for the atom?

And yeah, i've beeen looking at the reconditioned 90A Z alternators for 2-300$. I didn't know about the maxima thing, so i'll do some searching - you recomend it?

What are your plans for portable media? I bought a slim slot load DVD+-R that I'm going to try to fab into the dash somehow.

    Val

Right now I have it in one of these cases http://store.mo-co-so.com/4thgenminiitxcaseforcarputercarpc-p-178.html?zenid=apmj31qos98hg7l2mrcnf5e2q6

And it's behind the passengers seat. I had hoped to mount it under the passengers seat but it was too tight a fit.

I have no provisions for portable media. I have a wifi connection so I can update my music. I also have it set up with tight VNC so I can manage it from my office. Running itunes through the front end is clunky but it works ok. If I'm on the road I set up an ad hoc connection with my iphone and use the remote app to run itunes. Road Runner works really well with winamp but not with itunes music. I tried conversion programs but could never get the tags right. I'd like to integrate a cradle for the phone but I want something slick

I can't remember what alternator I used but it was from Autozone. It had a serpentine pulley on it. I had to make a spacer so that my stock pulley would go on. It may only be a 85 amp unit. It's been a while.
