  1. That will be a BIG plus. Thanks for the response! Dennis
  2. I'm sure that part of the message slowdown is due to just getting used to the change of format. However, regardless of what some have said, I think many of us find the new format less user friendly - especially the lack of message rollover popup that used to lure us into message threads as we scrolled the unread new messages. That may account for some moving on, not reading, and not posting. I speak only for myself, but I feel it's a shared opinion. Dennis
  3. I just replaced the 4 speed in my '71 Z with a 5 speed and will be using the later style shift lever rubber boot that is held in place on the transmission tunnel by a metal frame as used on later style Zs. I need the metal frame. If you have one, PM with price and shipping to SoCal 92264. Dennis
  4. It changed your gender?!?!?!?! Powerful program. Dennis
  5. I wonder how it looks with a good coat of wax?
  6. If the lady in your life is trying on new clothes and asks if a particular pair of pants makes her butt look big, don't answer. Dennis
  7. My wife, the psychologist, gave me a tip many years ago that goes nicely with what Nizm0Zed added above. Her insight: We all live in our own reality. That little bit of information has helped me understand why I don't understand the strange things people do and say. Dennis
  8. Next, I suppose you're going to tell me there's no Santa Claus and that the Easter Bunny died. Dennis
  9. I've made several purchases from him over the years - he seems to have a lot of the unusual and hard to find items. Always good prices & service. Dennis
  10. Hate to break in on the Stream of Consciousness discussion you're having with yourself, but I always find unguarded wireless networks interesting. We have our choice of two or three neighbor's networks if our own happens to be running slow. Hopefully, oours is adequately protected, but you never know. Dennis
  11. That's the nail biting part of the process. I started by saving as many pictures as I could find of Zs with flares to use for reference. The next step was to figure out which ones went on the front and which on the rear - no LF or RR markings to guide you on which go where. After that it was a matter of drilling holes on the attachment areas of the flares and then sliding them around on the wheel openings until they looked like the pictures. Use the mount holes in the flares as a template for marking the fenders for drilling. You can use the bumper indents in the fenders as a general guide as well as the seam between the front fender and the front valance. The horizontal line along the top of the rocker panels is also a good reference point. Tape them in place when you think you have the right location and stand back for a "long" view before drilling. This is what worked for me and may differ from the method used by others. Dennis
  12. No harm done. Glad to hear and see that your project turned out so well. The flares add a nice look to a great Z. Dennis
  13. I had it done when a golf ball fell from the sky and left its dimpled impression in the hood of my 944 many years ago. Amazing results. I wish the local tech was still in business. Dennis
  14. Actually, I can take a joke and always try to give one back. We're all just a bunch of merry pranksters with no ill intentions. Sorry if it didn't come across that way. Dennis
  15. Yup, just like the majority of flares that are sold - totally cosmetic. Just like the Nissan display Z I saw on the Ginza in Tokyo in 1971. Incidentally, "Rice" is the seed of a monocot plant Oryza sativa. As a cereal grain, it is the most important staple food for a large part of the world's human population. Now, if you're talking "wannabe", those of us who drive a 240 tend to believe that any Z with a model number bigger than 240 is a wannabe. Fortunately, it's a live and let live world. Dennis
  16. It was a little difficult for me to drill my perfect front fenders last month when I installed the front flares. The rears are next when the weather is a bit better. I'm not cutting the fenders, however, just adding the flares over the edge of the factory wheel well openings. Looks good and makes me happy. As others have said, it's just a car. I've owned it for 39 good years and it's time to dress it up. Dennis
  17. Move north and you can hone your skills on snow & ice. Z donuts on an iced parking lot are amazing....if I remember my youthful days correctly. It's the unintended donuts that tend to make your hair stand on end. Dennis
  18. Why do highway signs say, "Next Exit 3/4 Miles"? No instrument on the dash measures in quarter miles - only tenths and whole miles. Why don't they just move the sign a little closer or a little farther from the exit so it can say .7 or .8 miles? Dennis
  19. Nice product demo - no doubt about what you get for a buck. Might be a touch too long, however. Dennis
  20. Fitting my size 10 butt into a size 8 seat got me motivated to lose a few kilos. too.
  21. I'm currently working on mounting brackets for adapting Z seat rails to a set of BMW Recaro seats for my '71. Because of the seat bottom side bolsters, you can't be too wide to fit into them comfortably - otherwise, great seats. Seat width and mounting brackets always seem to be the big problems with alternative seats. Let us know what you end up installing. Dennis

    Avatar 3D?

Amazing movie! Check out the four fingered aliens and the five fingered Avatars - interesting attention to detail that most viewers won't notice. I saw it once and will see it again - don't wait for it to come out on DVD. Dennis
  23. Based on the question before I saw the pictures I would have said silver. After seeing the pictures my vote changes to gold - nice look. Dennis
  24. If you decide to put it up for a vote, add me to the "Yes on flares" side. A g-nose without flares is like a hotdog without a bun - it's good, but could be better. I'll put my soapbox away now and return to reading. Dennis
