  1. That story reminded me of Major Payne's first date. "I figure, if the army wanted me to have a wife, they'd have issued me one."
  2. I have another solution. You can just give your LS3 to me, you can have my LS1 with my custom ceramic coated headers.
  3. None of this is set in stone. Killing Pontiac and trading stock for debt is the proposed plan to avoid bankruptcy. However, they may still tank. This is the plan to get more government funds. The AP article I read said that if approved, this would leave an 89% controlling interest in the hands of the government and unions. So, start writing letters to your representatives about what cars you want to see!
  4. I have a set of power bear claw latches from the 2001 Trans Am donor car that I am thinking of retrofitting for the Z. I think I could just use this kit to adapt them and I'd be set. http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/hfm-bcinst-l_w.jpg The stock latches are old, hard to find, and expensive. I could have power locks for pretty cheap this way. A little cut and weld and I should be good to go. What do you guys think?
  5. That's too bad. It looks like a nice SUV!
  6. I will swap out the coil. I hope to do it by the weekend. If it doesn't solve the problem, I guess I'm buying a compression tester. They aren't that much. The motor only has 10,500 miles on it. I would hope it is all good. No $ for a rebuild. It really is running much better with the plugs and I have not been getting the other codes anymore, just #302. Thanks for the advice.
  7. Well, after the injectors did not really solve the problem, I started looking at other things. The car ran great before sitting, so I assumed it was fuel related. But, I figured I didn't change the plugs when I originally did the swap and so I bought new plugs and figured I'd try to get a read on what was happening off the old plugs. Here is what I found. Plug #6 fouled, Plug #5 cracked, and Plug #7 mismatch. I drove the car and the monster lives again. I still get at #302 code coming off WOT of even 1/2 throttle at times. The plug looked ok. Any ideas on that? also, anything about the other plugs that is not good? Finally, I am posting the picture of the rust that came out of the fuel rail. All those dots are rust flakes in the fuel in a bucket I used to catch the fuel.
  8. Machoir,

Any luck with your LS1 issues?

  9. #6 was fouled, #5 cracked
  10. The car had been sitting for several months. Fuel filter was changed and tank was purged. However, I had problems after the filter
  11. I prefer a salted saline in a bottle like Ocean brand. Salt will kill most common nose bacteria and you get the pressure wash too. Gargling with warm salt water is a good early sore throat remedy as well.
  12. I don't. A couple of years ago I was behind these two idiots playing that game. Both were brand new cars. The guy if front locked them up 2 or 3 times, smoke everywhere. He was trying very hard to get hit. After watching that insanity, I gave them a wide berth. I usually just move it on over as soon as a can. It is not worth the headache.
  13. Mine are plugged too. At first I thought I wasn't cooling enough because the temp would creep up when on it hard. But, it never goes above 210. I even thought my fans were not working because they never came on (Stock Camaro Fans). I have an aluminum radiator and it was doing such a good job at cooling, I never reached normal operating temp and so the fans wouldn't come on. I have since learned that they do. I just have to drive hard long enough.
  14. I will try the MAF clean, although since I changed injectors I haven't had that lean code anymore. And yeah, forgot to mention that. I put some used but cleaned injectors in and it runs almost the same. I did get a PO302 code once again. But it throws the 300 random/multiple code without fail. Is it possible that I have a bad spark plug or coil? Coil would throw it's own code, I would think.
  15. I had my harness reworked by Speartech years ago. With the new injectors in, it is throwing PO141 (O2 Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2) and PO161 (O2 Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank2 Sensor 2) codes as well as a random misfire (PO300). Now, I was told that with the PCM tune you Speartech did, that I do not have to run O2 simulators. Why am I getting codes for the rear O2 sensors? Do I need O2, sims? The battery died completely once. Would that mess up the tune? Please help. Thanks.
  16. I just re-read the posts in the above mentioned thread. There are some awesome stories in there! Please enjoy! The smurf blue mustang, the island vw bug, and the exploding garage all had me laughing pretty hard!
  17. Here is a thread I started about my stupidity. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=96354
  18. Depends on the job. Even latex and nitrile make it a difficult in a blind spot. I prefer to wear them but sometimes yank them off for complex or small scale tasks, especially if I can't see. And, for those of you that don't wear for machismo, there is nothing more manly than a pair of elbow length leather welding gloves. I love those things. I have about 4 pair and I don't even weld that much! If I ever get into a fight, I want to be wearing a pair of red Lincoln's! JK, well, sort of kidding.
  19. You can keep the z seats. You will have room at that point of the tunnel for seats. Frankly, there are not too many other smaller options that work any better. I did go with Miata seats in mine but could have kept the others. You will have to do a new tunnel or the sledge hammer mod on the first third of the tunnel.
  20. For sure. But don't knock the poor suckers who had to hash it out by ourselves. Lonestar1 had the 1st LS1 conversion ever, as far as I know. Jeromio did it alone, then Phantom teamed up with JCI and they had a kit out in about a year. In the mean time, I had mine mounted and running and mas280 finished his. He has since done a few more swaps in Z's and RX7's and made some very fast cars.
  21. Vin. I do have a PCM reader, handheld. However, if your software gives a better read, I would appreciate it. My reader has been showing me the random misfire code (PO 300) and an occasional PO 302 code. Once it gave a PO 306, but I have not ever been able to replicate that. the other code is PO 174 for being too lean, left bank. Goober, I hope I don't have that problem, because I have driven the car like this for probably 2 hours trying to sort things out. I should have some injectors next week. I will try swapping them out for cylinder 2 and 6 and see how I do. I may just swap all of them. **EDIT** Aren't cylinders 2 and 6 on the right bank? Maybe I have a bad O2 sensor on the right and clogged injectors on the left. This is so confusing!
  22. I can't believe this is still out there. http://www.geocities.com/maichor75104/index.html You can find some pics of the C5 mounts, as well as my process for getting headers to work for them when no one made them. Street and Performance customized some block huggers for me. I streamlined everything from the pictures there and made an aluminum perch in place of the steel ones pictured there.
