  1. OK... what i meant by regular 280 springs was drop springs designed for the 280, and not the 2+2, they'll still fit right?
  2. Thas exactly y i put my system back in, so that way i would have something to listen to while pushing or fixing my car on the side of the road. lol good luck. Ed 78 280z 2+2
  3. after many trials and tribulations i think i finally fixed it. NOT enough fuel. when wiring up my fuel pressure gauge, a friend and i were trying to get it to read pressure, while playing we got the idea to unhook the stock regulator and just use the $260. one from MSA after getn' the gauge to read and adjusting the psi to about 46-50PSI the car runs like a freakn' dream! thorttle is incredibly smooth, i think it's finally fixed. Thanks for all the guys that helped me
  4. ok finally got a fuel pressure gauge... well it will work for it... gonna hook it up tomorrow. Also the problem seems to go away when it's cold like 60's below. odd? Ed
  5. I was looking at putting some Mini-Cooper type S wheels on my car w/ some spacers, but they are 16's and will have a little gap from wheel-well to tire, What springs woulld provide an actually 1" drop at least? i have a 2+2 and and was wondering what regular 280 springs would do? Thanx in advanced
  6. Pump, tank, injectors, and filter were all replaced over the summer, just put in another new filter two days ago. NOw... when you run the car.. and you pull in and stop...it won't start till the engine is completly cold.
  7. I'd be gaining the a new computer, new electronics, newer injector style, and i think a 6spd. I'm not looking for more power, just an easier electronic system to diagnose the L-Jetronic designed by Bosch has finally croaked on my car. I don't want the turbos because i already have enough tickets w/ an N/A motor. Plus just slightly easier to tune w/ out them. Just my .02 I'm not looking for the wheelie popn' 280. Ed
  8. oh yes... and in response to Eric-Z i'm not lookn' for a wheelie popn' 280 anymore because i have another project car for that, i'd rather put the time into it than my 280. Putn' the 280 back to a street car
  9. Nice to see you are all openminded people. Yeah i prolly squeezed too much to get all the juice outta my L-Jetronic, sorry that offends you as to raise a BS flag on me... and yes i am currently looking into a new enginemanagment system. Just waitn' for emails back... currently i'm looking at the system Holley makes. Thanx for the info on the tranny though.. the 6spd was a real selling point for the swap. oh well
  10. It has two different reactions i guess you would say... when the tank is low... it will die w/ barely any throttle it'll go to 2 then everything will turn off it seems then come back to life about 800 rpm. with a full tank... you have full throttle.. but it acts like there is a rev limiter at 4k. I've just about given up at this point any and all ideas are welcome.
  11. I'm sure somebody has thought about putn'a twin turbo in a Z but what about an N/A? still put out decent power right? are the engines very reliable w/ out the turbos to plague them? Just wondering. Don't know much about the motor at all.
  12. two thumbs up scottie.. your car looks great.. love the wheels
  13. well i just about took apart the whole dash.. took out the heater/ A/C air tubes and lots of wires and that relay is not on my 78 280z 2+2.. so if somebody wants to buy it let me know. Must be for 77's. Ed
  14. ok so i'm sure your tired of reading these posts.. but i'm tired of wondering if i'll get home everday. was looking over thigns again today and found that the seal on my air regulater pretty much deteriorated you could pull the two pieces apart... i used some gasket sealer and put the two back together... but would this be a problem contributing to my car running bad? according to the manual it looks like it justs help it run smooth at idle in the cold.. am i right?
  15. i'll check again... but that tank was cut open refinished and put back together in san antonio by a profesional company.
  16. ok thanx... i guess your right. Must be an optical illusion. and no i have not actually held a 240sx caliper.. that is y i ask. Thank you for you help. Ed.
  17. nope i had to make my own and a custom counsel as well
  18. Is it possible this could all be caused my a dirty fuel filter? just a thought Ed
  19. finished the lights.. but found some more engine problems... i'll try and get some pics monday. (damn work, neverending)
  20. i just spent two days running new wires to my lights 12 10 and 8 gauge wires, also replaced fusible links w/ regular 4block fuse holder. Lights are 100 percent better. Also on my 280, on the highbeam switch... the lead wire got so hot.. it started melting the solder and was touching the ground wire... had to seperate those 2. Hope that helps. Ed (preparing for HID's)
  21. go to www.pelicanparts.com and go to the express parts. they have "lash pads". I got them for my 280 there. i think they were like .70 each or something i forget. they are a great company.. so don't worry about getn' conned. Ed
  22. well i'll check them again but the afm is only about 2 months old, and the fuel pressure regulator is about 2 weeks old. but i'll check again. Ed
  23. my point exactly i think that money could be better spent doing something else.
  24. I knew you guys would want to see i'll post some pics tomorrow. it's dark so i have to wait till daylight to do that. Also about 1/2 done w/ rewiring the lights.
